V-line & Cheekbones/Zygoma reduction

Recommended Posts

Dear purse forumers,

first of all , i would like to apologize for my english, it is not my main language and hope i can be understood even with all my grammatical mistakes :P

I am considering doing v-line surgery and Zygoma reduction next month and was wondering about the risks of these surgeries?

-(V line plastic surgery refers to the plastic surgery of sharpening front jaw. If excessive procedure is performed, there could a lot of damages. If the cut bones from front jaw are collected, the soft tissues can create lump, which may cause very awkward shape :cray :nono: And there must be other things that I don't know and that I should know before undergoing these very serious procedures).

For those who underwent zygoma reduction, I was told this by a plastic surgeon who only performs facial bones surgery that i wasn't a good candidate and he was the only one who could tell me this through emails only and based on the photos i sent him!

Cheekbone reduction takes up the large portion of facial line plastic surgeries, and relatively, it is said that dissatisfaction rate is higher since there can be loss after operation.

Cases where cheekbone reduction does not help according to him:

1. In case the candidate has a large head

2. In case the relative ratio between head and lower jaw is not appropriate

3. In case the candidate has a long face

4. In case there is a high concern of cheek sagging

5. In case the candidate has a negative appearance regardless of cheekbone

6. In case the candidate wants to get operation for symmetry of face

7. In case the cheekbone stands out when smiling or seen from the side

I will consult other specialists to find out ( not marketing plastic surgeons specialists :P )

So my 1st question is did the surgeon tell you about the above cases during your consultation?
And what type of incision did the surgeon recommend you? incision from the inside of mouth or incision from head?
If any of you is having sagging issues at the moment, where was the incision made for your zygoma reduction?

Together with these procedures, I would like to do nose revision, DES and fat graft.

So besides from the nice photos mostly photoshoped from most of the clinics' websites, I was wondering if you mind sharing "real" photos from your recent surgeries with me? PM or kakao*? I understand that you may not want to post pictures here specifically so i look forward to hearing from you by all means

After all we are all on the same boat and we are all going through this phase: Research, info, facts, consultations and big day at our chosen clinic in the end for our surgery that we have been wanting for a long time!!! I'll be also happy to share my upcoming experience again with you guys and if i have the courage, I will make a little diary by video to share with you from consultations days at clinics to all the way back on my plane to Switzerland.

For those who went for V-line recently, do you mind sharing with us your recent experience?
1.Has your operation has been successful? Did you have any complications?
2. who performed it? Which clinic?
3.how did you choose your surgeon?
4. how long did the swelling last?
5. Do you feel any pain, migraines one year + post operation?
6. Can you open your mouth like before surgery?
7. Was there any infection?
8. What are the risks that the surgeon get to tell you about during your consultation with him and what are those that you found out by yourself and acknowledge already before coming? I guess that in a 15-min consultations with the surgeons, we have to do our homework first.
9. When can you say that you could go back to "normal" life? After 6 months or more?
10. Are you happy with your result and was it worth the all the pain?
:graucho:

I really want to thank you all for any input you could give me and from my side I ll continue research with my chat group on kakao and these amazing girls i met through this forum, so thankful to have them to exchange daily ;) and am so excited to meet them in March/April for our trip to Seoul.

Looking forward to hearing from you guys

Hi lollipop!

I'm afraid I can't help answer your questions as I haven't had my v-line surgery yet!

But I am going in May and am definitely also interested to hear others experiences:smile: Particularly when people were able to smile naturally again after the surgery:smile:

I haven't had a cheekbone reduction or V line, but I have done a good deal of research by both reading medical journals and consulting with various surgeons. Procedural wise I have had minor cheekbone shaving with a surgical file and a mandible reduction. So while my case differs to your questions, it is still partially relatable.

The points you mentioned for zygoma reduction, in particular point 4 6 and 7 was brought to mne attention during my consultation with Dr Kim at Dream. After checking out my CT scan he flat out refused to perform the surgery on me. I actually hassled him more than once and I still got rejected. Reason being I wasn't a candidate because I do not have protruding cheekbones. Rather I wanted to achieve symmetry but the issue is not as simple as both cheekbones having different dimensions, but my entire skull is actually asymmetrical. Treatment hence would be considered too drastic for minimum yield in results. One cheekbone of mine is also slightly more forward. So instead we chose to address the soft tissue problem I had by using acculift to remove volume in the mid cheek area. Less volume was removed on the left mid cheek while alot more was removed on the right mid cheek to even it out.

So again while mine was not V line, It was a component of it. I had mandible reduction at the Yanhee several years ago. The end result was visible sagging a year post op. In response I had to undergo a concentric malar lift with hydroxyappaptite granules to revert the sagging. In part I sagged because I was not the right candidate for the procedure. Additionally, the awful surgeons at the Yanhee resected too much bone from me. Recovery was also very tough. I recall have two tubes connected to external holes along the side of my jaw to drain the blood. I had problems getting up on my own. This part of my experience I believe would be highly unlikely to occur in Seoul as the medical standard is much higher and the technique has improved since I first had my jaw reduction.

Swelling wise it lasted just over 8 months I believe. I could open my mouth properly after 2 weeks. No migraines or anything. No infection luckily. However I must stress when these bone contouring procedures are involved, you have to be aware that the surgeon is dealing with alot of sensory and motor nerves. Temporary damage to these nerves are expected. However permanent damage, to the motor nerves especially is a big problem. As Dr Mendelson explained to me when cautioning me against bone contouring, permanent motor nerve damage will leave the patient in a stroke like form. I apologise as I don't mean to scare you but rather I feel it is best to consider any potential risk factor no matter how large or small.

As to your last question, I really wish I didn't do the mandible reduction. Back when I was younger I did not do any research and did not bother to understand the procedures i underwent. I had an issue with my jaw width, not my jaw shape. The mandible reduction turned my angular defined jaw line which i loved into a curved jaw, with the width still remaining. If I had simply had botox to shrink the width that would have been sufficient. Also, it is not advisable to remove part of the jaw muscle surgically as there are even more long term and short term risks involved with doing so.

Anyways I assume u have yet to have your x ray or 3d ct so don't jump to any conclusions on your condition yet. Also you should request a CD of your xray and ct to keep so you don't have to hop from clinic to clinic undergoing radiation over and over again. Usually clinics do complimentary cray and 3d cts if they feel you are serious abotu the procedure and only charge $10-20 for the CD.

Good luck xx

Lollipop go read my post of the closed thread from 2012 - the link will take you to the 478 pages - spend the time to read the gory facts. I was scared off on facial contouring but considering it again as the first 24-48 hours are the worst. Depending on clinic you have drains inside your mouth or behind your ear to remove any blood. The removal hurts but you have to suffer for the cause of beauty.
