  1. hey wishingStar, I saw in another post that you went with harvesting your own rib. I’m currently tossing up between using donated rib or my own - I was told that using donated would be much dearer in terms of cost, another dr told me it’d cost more to harvest my own, so I’ve been receiving conflicting information on which material to use (both doctors are board certified).

Did your surgeon dice your rib? Have you found any warping or resorption as yet?

Hope you’re recovery went well and you’re happy with the results!

  2. this is a so true, I hadn’t even considered allergies.

I agree, it would be much safer if the bridge could be augmented with ear cartilage. You’re also right in saying it can’t be used to augment the bridge as it is too soft. Unfortunately in most cases There is not enough ear cartilage to make a noticeable height difference too.

I had Radiesse filler in the bridge and tip of my nose,. I wanted to see what my nose would look like with filler first with the adjustments - without committing to a permanent nose job. I was ignorant and hadn’t researched enough on the longevity of the filler. It’s meant to only last for two years however I have been reading that Radiesse can calcify making it bond and become part of the nose structure. Radiesse unfortunately cannot be removed with an injection like a HA filler can. I’ll require surgical removal which can hopefully be performed by the dr in conjunction with rhinoplasty.

a change in bridge height of 1-2mm would not be worth it, you made the right decision.

  3. these two are my top pick as well. I don’t think you could go wrong with either. They’re just expensive compared to others as they specialise in noses.

  4.
I enquired with Docfinder too and they tend to only recommend those four clinics, I’ve read on some threads that they’re affiliated with those four.

An osteotomy requires shaving of the nasal bones (If I’m not mistaken). I think they recommended that to me too, but I did not want my bones shaved or an overly thin bridge.

When it comes to silicone vs cartliladge, I assume this is for the bridge. You’ll find that a lot of the clinics recommend silicone for primary rhinoplasty.

For me personally, I’ve been reading that silicone may require revision Long term. Which is why I’m opting for autogulous material. Although, for a small percentage of people out there they may not require revision. It’s definitely personal preference so please research and consult with different clinics

What results were you after? Ie natural, dolly?

  5. hey tvxqgirlq, and dearie,
Your post is helping me with my research. As soon as these travelling restrictions are easing I’m booking my flights to South Korea for my primary nose job. Similarly to you, I find doctors here in Australia not as skilful in asian noses IMO.

Was also looking into clinics in Vietnam as I saw a recommendation on another thread of a doctor specialising in rib rhino. seems risky though and I’d rather get it right the first time to avoid a revision.

I agree with tvxqgirlq, when it comes to maintenance or touch ups, these generally aren’t required unless the individual is unhappy with the result, or an implant is infected, deviated or protruding.

@tvxqgirlq, in terms of donated dermis or own rib, in your opinion which would be better to use? The thought of having another humans donated body part in my nose makes me uncomfortable but the latter to harvest ones own rib can be quite invasive. you’re super lucky to have a high bridge! I had filler in mine before and it’s widened my bridge so I’ll need to have the filler removed and an implant of some sort inserted.

  6. Yeah seems to be the case, I’ve been reading some threads on here, a lot of patients who have silicone may have a risk of immune reaction, infection etc and require revision. Some say it’s better to have your own implant (rib, septum or ear). Some have silicone and have no issues. I think it’s a personal decision.
But for me I’m looking for primary rib rhino too.
You can send an online Enquiry to Dr Jin and see what he says?

  7. How is rhinoplasty recovery with kiddies? I have a almost 6 month old and looking at getting rhino but He scratches and hits my face on the daily.
Hope you’re happy with the results x

  8. Hi maggiedee,

Dr Jin & Hanabi are my top two picks at the moment. Can I ask of the reasons you chose Dr Jin over Hanabi. Are you happy with the results now that it’s settled and has been more than a year.

@pulpy how did your revision go (sorry if you posted a review already and I haven’t come across it yet). Hope it went smoothly.

  9. I’m going book my flights to SK as soon as travelling restrictions are eased. Use this time to research your clinics!

  10. Sorry to hear about your experience with VIP.

I’m after a similar result (from the after pictures you posted).

I’m currently researching for my primary (with complications from previous use of calcium filler). Have read lots of reviews on Habani, Dr Jin and Cocoline (all ENT’s). Have you consulted with them? They’re my top 3 at the moment.

Have also emailed The Plus, yet to receive a reply from them.

  11. Hey singbubz,

I was quoted by Hanabi recently for rib rhino too. I was given the choice of silicone or rib, which I really appreciated. They are on my list of clinics but I would like to speak to first hand experience patients and Hear their reviews. I think through research I may proceed with rib as I would much prefer having my own material as an implant. Rib should only be performed in the hands of a skilled surgeon to avoid risks. I’m also considering Dr Jin who is wayyyy more expensive but highly skilled in rib.

Did you proceed to with any of those clinics or when are you looking to travel to SK?

  12. Hey Glitterocean,
How did you go? Did you proceed with rib grafting? I’m also consulting with a couple of SK clinics for primary, getting mixed methods Oslo silicone vs rib.

  13. Long time lurker, I’ve found so many helpful threads on here pertaining so surgery in SK. I’m finally biting the bullet to get rhinoplasty.

A couple of years ago (2.5 to be precise) I had filler injected into the tip and bridge of my nose, the doctor used Radiesse. The issue I’m faced with now is the fact that Radiesse calcifys (My fault for not researching this filler more) and that complications could arise following future rhinoplasty, since the filler is calcium based and to my understanding, forms part of the nose structure.

I’m hoping to seek advice from any one that has previously had Radiesse injected as part of a Non-surgical nose job, and had success having rhinoplasty after?

Are there any known surgeons that specialises in possibly removing this filler in South Korea or anywhere in the world for that matter.

    Thanking you in advance

  14. Hi Ive been researching and wanted your insights on which clinics you’d recommend for primary rhino. Could I possibly PM you or if you’re more comfortable chatting here? TIA
