  1. Hey! PM me your email address, I'll be able to share my photos with you.
I'd asked for very natural tapered, tapered fold, but I think the difference still feels dramatic. :P
I went to Dr. Hwang at ID. My experience there was nothing like the horror stories posted here--when I went through the consultation process I thought ID was pretty organized and efficient.
It's been a while, but I remember I was put under sedation for my surgery, which is AWESOME because I'd be terrified to be awake while people are cutting my eyelids up and being told "blink. okay, open your eyes. close your eyes." Etc.

If you go through some of my old posts, you should be able to find full reviews on my consultations and my whole experience at ID.

    Good luck!

  2. Hey guys, I just wanted to give you guys an update on my double eyelid experience.

I had non-incisional with ptosis correction and medial epi done back in December of 2014 with Dr. Hwang and since it's been over seven months, I thought I'd drop in and share my experience.

Firstly, anyone who says you won't scar is lying to you. You're cutting your skin and stitching it back together. Of course you'll scar. How quickly those scars fade will depend on how quickly you heal and how neatly your skin is stitched up.

Secondly, you'll be noticeably swollen, even after two weeks. That can't be helped. Healing will again depend on your body--but hopefully your surgeon tried to do minimum trauma to your eyes.

When I first had ptosis, I felt a tightness around my eyes, but these days, I don't really feel anything unless I'm consciously thinking about it as I move my eyes as far as possible.

The fold decreased a lot since December and is looking a lot more natural. I started with uneven eyes where my left eye is higher than my right one, but I think Dr. Hwang did a good job evening them out.

When I close my eyes, you can't really tell I got anything done--but again, it was nonincisional so I guess that was to be expected.

What's changed after surgery: I feel more confident about my appearance. Which is funny since most of my nonasian friends can't tell I had anything done. I had to relearn how to draw my eyeliner since I'm no longer a monolid. Also, since my skin doesn't fold over my lashline, my eye lashes look sooo much longer.

Overall, I'm really happy with the results. I wish I'd done this back in 2012 instead of my failed rhino. haha.

One other thing, changing your eyes will greatly impact your appearance, but not as much as the ps makeover photos you see at clinics. If you only get your eyes done, don't expect dramatic changes. It's going to be your face (the one you've seen since forever) with different eyes. It's weird. DES makes a huge difference, but at the same time, it doesn't.

If you're considering DES, I think it's totally worth it if you have a good surgeon. I'm very happy with my results  Good luck ladies!

  3. WOW. That's pretty scary.

And 1/3 of the cost goes to pay brokers... O.O I'm telling you guys, don't tell other people where you're going to consult. If you do share, don't tell anyone your real name or actual consultation dates.

  4. I'm at two months. By the time it's like noon, my eyes look fine. But in the mornings, they're definitely puffier. And when I'm about to sleep is when they look their best.

I hate having these meaty eyelids.. D: But if I sleep with my head elevated it hurts my back. I did it for one night--the night after my surgery and then decided getting sleep was worth the extra swelling :/

  5. I totally sleep on my back, never on my side or stomach but every morning looks like I went back in time by a month.

When did your eyelid become totally flat, no longer wormy from whatever it is that makes it's swollen? I can tell even at night the swelling is not fully dissolved.

  6. Omg I'm exactly the same! None of my old eyeliner drawing techniques work...
My roommate said that I look way better in the evening. Sincere the mornings my eyes are still very swollen.

But actually, looking at my eyes now, at 11pm, I'm so pleased with my eyes. I think dr. Hwang did an amazing job making my eyes look even. Unless you look at me straight on and suuuuper closely, you can't tell that one eye is smaller than the other.

Also, since the tops of my eyes are aligned, I guess all I really need to do is line my lower lash line a little thicker if I want my eyes to look perfectly even.

Then again, I don't feel like I have to do makeup on my eyes to look cute anymore. I just do my foundation stuff and brows. Later, I plan to curl my lashes and do a little bit of mascara. In the states, the no-makeup makeup look is all the rage so, it's okay that I suck at doing my eyeliner. No eyeliner is perfectly trendy.

Hey, wanna trade photos? Pm me your kakao

  7. I don't think I want to do everything all over again. But every morning I wake up and my eyes are swollen. It usually takes a few hours for the swelling to come down so my uneven eyes looks even more mismatched.

I think it's still too early for either of us to even think about revisions... Overall are you happy with your eyes? I did nonincisional ptosis correction as well so my eyes look super alert. Hahaha

@akurairain--oh heeeeellll no I'm not risking revision. I'm really happy with the way my eyes look at nights, but yeah. The mornings, I look like I have one giant eye and one small one. And since I don't know how to do my eye makeup with double eyelids, I can't even use make up to even it out.

  8. Before I had double eyelid surgery done back in December, my eyes were pretty uneven. My left eye was smaller but higher up than my right eye with the corner raised slightly higher.

Overall I'm really happy with my results--I had no incisional ptosis correction done with epi and my right eye fold was made a little higher so the height of my eye looks more even. But when I asked the doctor about possibly doing lateral canthoplasty in just one eye, he said no.

Does anyone have experience with uneven eyes? Overall I'm very pleased with my results but I still have more swelling in my right eye so sometimes you can tell it's still uneven.

I've heard people do double eyelid in just one eye--one of my old roommates actually did that--but is there anyone with uneven width, like me?

  9. So I ended up having only double eyelids done but my face/impression actually changed quite a lot. Even my friends were like woah.

However... Nothing else in my life has changed. Just my face. I think if you feel more confident you'd act more confident and people would react to you differently.. But in my case I broke out so bad during surgery that I'm now super self conscious about about my skin... It's started to come down and so has my swelling... So maybe in the future...?

  10. I used to take the antibacterial pills too! But I kept getting yeast infections. Terrible. Seriously, try hyaluronic acid. You find this ingredient in high end skin care products, but I've been taking supplements of this stuff and my skin is much much calmer.

  11. I have acne, hormonal and diet related and my dermatologist has recommended it to be in the past. But since I hear long term use of birth control pills can have long term effects on your reproductive health, I don't take them. Besides, if you're a guy I doubt it's hormonal acne.

I started to take Hyaluronic acid supplements and have seen pretty awesome results. There's different types. I take the natural, extracted from rooster's gobble kind.

It's not too expensive and may be worth a shot

  12. I didn't know they did restylane for nose. I thought that filler was too liquidy for bridge--no?

  13. Oh dude!! Let me know where you go for eyeliner tattoo. I just did DES back in December and I still can't figure out how to draw my eyeliner. D:

  14. [/QUOTE]
I sent you a kakao!

  15. Oh man. I'm right there with you! I was staying at Inn the City in Nonhyeon and right downstairs they had a Korean fried chicken place that was AMAZIIIING! Soda does not cut through the grease like a nice cold beer. Ahhh I miss Korea already!

  16. Oops, I meant to reply to your post not pikachu's...

Also, I went to ID asking for Dr. Hwang, and apparently there's two... I wasn't sure which one my friend had gone to so I asked which one is best... Which is when they spouted all the accolades of Dr. Hwang In Suk (idk why I find it hilarious that he has the same first name as Jo In Suk but.. Lols) so it would seem like they do have specialists. ID is definitely known for facial contouring but it seems like a lot of ppl go there.. The VJ girl on the Korean show "Aliens from Mars" (not sure what it's English title is) had her eye revision done at ID and broadcasted her experience on TV. So.. Idk. They must have some reputation, right?

  17. Hey there! So I came back from Korea in Decemebr and had my double eyelid surgery done at ID based on a friends recommendation and seeing the results of a few forumers back in 2012. I dropped out of Purseforum a few months after I did my rhino at JW so I didn't really read all the drama that was posted here... :/

I asked them about the doctor switching at ID and the other clinics I consulted and everyone from Dream to DARPS and ID said if they're doctor switching it would be near impossible to keep it underwraps since so many people would have to be complicit.

Anyway, I am very happy with my double eyelid results--I went to dr. Hwang In Suk. I got nonincisional with ptosis correction and epi. If you're curious, I'd be happy to share censored photos with you

I think Purseforum is a great resource in terms of learning about plastic surgery procedures and recovery experiences. But so many fake reviews (good and bad) are shared that I take a lot of the clinic reviews with a grain of salt...

    Anyhow good luck to you!!!

  18. LOL! You smelled bbq?!?!?!

OMG. I am so glad I was under sedation during my surgery. I guess you got partial incision then... right? Although, looking at your closed eyes photo it doesn't look like you had any exterior incisions. Just exterior stitches, which is what I had as well for nonincisional...

Now that I think about it, I had ptosis correction done without incision, but how is that possible?!!? Maybe the doctor excised fat through a tiny hole. LOLs

  19. I totally second this. All this business about "best surgeon in Korea" is misleading. Even the most acclaimed surgeon may not be able to help you achieve the results you want. Sure, you don't want to go to a doctor with a bad reputation, but after you pick out the places you want to consult, it's just a matter of which doctor you feel most comfortable with.

Btw Shirley, do you have eyeliner tattooed on?
