  1. All the best to you! Do share with us your recovery process! I am worried about the recovery process for thigh lipo.

  2. Hi Babyrose12! Thanks so much! Previously, i had fraxel dual, subcision and dot peeling done for facial scars. Now im looking into getting subcision, dot peeling, black heads removal via gentle laser. Also getting mole removal as well. I am template to get cool sculpting on my arms.

  3. Been too busy with life that i've been away from the forum for awhile. Anyway, previously, i had a full facial fat graft, undereye bag repositioning and non-incision double eyelid surgery done.

Following up with my earlier post, i am going back to korea on Feb7(I will stay till Feb13) for consultation on 2nd fat graft on my forehead and lipo on my tights. I'm planning to do operation on May or Oct when I'm there for holiday instead of business travel. Also, i am going to derm to get some procedures done. So if anyone is interested in meeting up, please PM me, for privacy reason, i will not pose my kakao ID here.

Sharing some insights, if you are confident and know clearly what you want to achieve, you do not need to hire a translator. You can save the cash for good food after the surgery. Earlier today I've made appointment with 2 hospitals and a derm. Just be patient with speaking with the phone operator & expect a few calls to finalize things.

  4. Your nose looks perfect now. I am really happy for you.

  5. Yeah, baby face is the in-thing in Asia.

Oh dear! Yeah I have read a total of two horror stories that people went blind after getting fat inject around their eyes. Scary.

May I know more about skin trouble your forum friend is facing? Coz I had two really really big acnes and serious clogged pores on my upper cheeks. But is all okay now after some intensive home treatment with appropriate skin care products. my skin is kinda sensitive now, turns red easily, but it may be due to frexel treatments i did?

  6. Hihi!

Yeah, from scientific point of view it seems logical that people with high metabolism rate has will have lower retention rate. Though I have not read anything about this from creditable source.

FYI. Guess I have very screwed up metabolism rate, coz i under gone a few periods of crazy diet and exercise regime. You can categorize me as having lower than average metabolism weight.

To take metabolism into account (just in case, but i was told not to gain weight as my face may become too fat), I stopped my exercise regime (normally it is a 5km jog and some weights conditioning) one mth before surgery and up till early May (about 4mths).

My weight maintained after surgery but dropped in May. Kept to a healthy diet to maintain weight and make sure i get enough nutrients. Oh, i ate a lot of vit C too.

    Cheers,

  7. I know there are very little info on the forum on fat grafting and i get a few comments on that as well. so I will share my result and a little of my experience with everyone.

Feel free to forward me any questions!

I had fat graft, under eyebags fat repositioning done at Regen by Dr. Park Sung Wook. I hired Zoe as my translator and go head with her recommendation with Dr. Park. First by what i have observed, reviews (from friend and my friend's friend) and a little of my instinct. Dr. Park seems to know what i want and i have no trouble communicating with him about my needs, unlike other consultations that i have been to. (FYI, I visited two clinics with Zoe and 3 other clinics by myself)

I have some trouble estimating the retention rate, as it is really subjective and my eye are not trained to do so.

However, I am pretty sure fat grafting solves my problems of producing brow bones, sunken upper cheeks and temple. And it lighten my laugher lines, as mention still kinda visible.

My upper cheeks has the best retention rate is on my cheeks, still looking overly full after 1.5mth which got me really worried. By the 4mth my cheeks looks really natural in perosn and have a nice vol. Quite a few ppl says i have gotten prettier! Sadly, my cheeks may appear to be kinda chubby in photos, something that im not use to, as I previously have really skinny and long face.

    Before the procedure:
    - Set the expectation right
    - Communicate with ur doc.Make sure you surgeon is on the same page with you and you have no trouble communicating with him. (areas to inject, desired vol etc)
    - ask what happens if you did not achieve desired result
    - ask about recovery process for you

    After the procedure:
    - get plenty of rest! I live in stress free environment and got plenty of sleep (clearing my sleep debt too) for about 2mths. :P
    - eat lots of healthy food (esp fruits)

I will add if i could think of anything else, wrote the above off my mind and may miss out some points.

Feel free to ask any questions.

  8. Hihi,

I had my procedure done at Regen, as I feel very comfortable with the Dr and consultant. Also, i kinda know two ladies who had fat graft done at Regen, one with okay result another with good result.

Both of them including me looks natural after around 3-4mth. if you ask me, it is quite a long time to recover for such a (relative) petite surgery.

Any questions, do forward it to me.

    Cheers!

  9. If you see my posts which i put up last yr, i underwent full facial (defined as more than 3 areas) fat grafting in seoul on 2012 dec.

I had fat graft on my forehead, temples, upper cheeks and laugh lines.

now it is almost 6mth after my surgery, the result on my cheeks and temple are pretty good. very even and not overly full. For the forehead, the fat graft removed the appearance of protruding brow bones. But by the 5th mth the dent across my forehead reappears slightly. Therefore, it is not as full as i would like it to be. My laugh lines are lighten, but it is still slightly noticeable, which is reasonable as i have slight protruding upper jaw.

Besides my forehead, i am very happy with my result. No regrets at all and feel i should have undergo this procedure long ago. Fats at right part of my face makes one looks younger and more awake. Friends whom i met 2mths after surgeries do not notice abt my PS. Some just commented I look different (but cant tell what changes) or simply fresher. Only one or two experts in PS guessed i did something to my cheeks.

take note that your face will be supper puffy 1 mth after surgery. After 2.5mth there wont be much changes. From what i learnt, after 6mth, there wont be much changes (unless you age of coz).

The retention rate for me is around 60%-70% assuming my puffiness from surgery only lasted two weeks long.

  10. Gosh, i always wanted to get lasik done in korea, but i afraid that what if something went wrong after surgery when im back in my home country? Anyway, may i know which clinic/hospital did your friend's gf go to get lasik done? (:

  11. I myself have not ungo fat graft, yet! I will get it end of the month and surely i will post up my review.

    However, from my research,
    - ID does quite good fat graft on my friend's forehead, but she requires a 2nd touch up
    - I heard reviews that Regen does quite good fat grafting
    - Dr. Park from http://jwps.kr/en/ showed me a example that his fat graft last for at least 5-7 years. but it is only one example and he says he is very careful in injection etc so i will only suffer bruising for 3 days....
    - Grand have a few good examples of producing very natural results, but i saw the pictures and feel the change is too subtle and all the fat might be gone in 4 mths!

For me i only go to large hospital for surgery. As i believe that for a surgeon to be hired by huge name, it means they are very good at their job coz the market is so competitive. Since they do not own the business, they do not worry so much about sales etc and focus on performing good surgery, building up his reputation in the industry. Also, being a foreigner, it is hard to sleeve out those small specialize clinics with talented doctors.

  12. OMG, i have the same problem with my mum too! However, i am currently staying in seoul for work and i am going to go ahead with PS. As you know, i may need to come back for touch up my facial fat graft and my mum isnt very supportive of that.

  13. I am refer to Dr. Park from Dr. Park Plastic Surgery. He is featured on MBC. http://jwps.kr/en/ It is relatively a small clinic.

I did not choose to do operation with him though.

Sadly, no one can be sure how long fat graft will last.

  14. Yes! Totally agree. I decided to took a leap of faith and praying that at least around 50% of the fat injected will stay permanent for the first fat graft. lets keep our fingers crossed!

  15. Yes dear! But I have almost 3weeks before my surgery date! Haha that is nice! I am planning to do shopping the day before surgery! :P heal well, hope to see your update soon! (:

  16. Hope u recover well! same here, i cant believe i have book a surgery date. hope i wont regrat!

  17. Thanks marrir! You have been activity sharing your extensive knowledge! (: Hope you would con't doing just that! (:

I would like to add on a few points!

    - if the fat graft is done on a deeper level, there is lower chance of lumpiness
    - from my consultations and looking at a few real life examples, generally korean surgeons inject fat deep into the skin and thus it is quite smooth.
    - lumpiness usually happens around eyes where the skin are thinner
    - so to be safe, let your doctor knows that you are very very risk adverse and is willing to be under-filled(than over filled) and have 2nd fat graft. From my research, it is usually american doctors who tend to overfill (do not quote me on this)
    - Yes, areas with lots of movements usually have low survival rate of grafted fats, esp around nose and mouth area and fat grafting at the start nose bridge. Under-eye is the next lowest. Forehead and temple usually have better results, especially if you have high forehead to begin with and is using fat to fill up dent/unevenness.
    - the needles size used do matter as well. using more blunt needles actually lowers infection and less distractive to original tissues
    - The longevity of fat graft is widely varied from 25% to 70% within 2-5 years. It is generally reported to have lower retention rate in for surgery done westen countries than in Korea. However, i do doubt all the numbers provided by korean doctors as it lacks evidences and i see it as a form of marketing tactics. I saw one result whereby the results are still quite good after 7 years, but i think those are rare cases? coz the doc is so proud in showing me her pictures
    - Steam cell is believed to help fats get blood supply and thus leading to longer lasting results. Also, steam cell are the ones that give the rejuvenating effects
    - on steam cell fat grafting, i do not think there is much difference from the usual fat grafting method. As the fats extracted already have steamcell and it wil be injected onto our skin no matter what (unless they take it out, which is unlikely). so i think it is only a form of marketing tactics to make you believe that there is higher retention rate. (not sure about this, do correct me if i am wrong!!)
    - Fat grafting is more natural and less invasive than implants. however, it is harder to control the outcome. Doctors are really impt factor in this case
    - from my consultations, i was constantly told or indirectly told that it is a small surgery and not to worry.
    - also, do communicate what you want or not want to your surgeon again right before the surgery. i dont trust the notes when doctors take during the 1st consultation as it is very generic.

  18. Hmm, maybe you have to check with your bank. Just a suggestion. (:

From my experience, those global ATM machines at Citibank Seoul branches (not those small ATM found at subway stations) allow u to redraw up to 1million won per transactions and will not charge any transaction fee. Once i redrew 3million won in a day on 3 separate transactions at the same time and at the from the machine. FYI, there is a citibank branch with global ATM along gangnam main street and another being a distant away from Apgujeong station exit 2. (: I feel unsafe bring a large amount of cash around, so this really helped me.

    * disclaimer [coz i am not 100% sure of the rules in this forum]
I am not promoting Citibank, it is just my personal experience in Korea

  19. For those that worry about bring large amount of cash. I will suggest to check out banks in korea with global ATM, where u can redraw money without any extra charge and from my experience the exchange rate is slightly better than those money exchanger found back in my own country. from what i see around Seoul, Citibank is one of the most commonly found global banks in South Korea. But please do check the amount of money you could redraw a day or a month. Hope it helps! (:

  20. Hihi!

I am a silent reader of this trend and the previous tread that have been archived. So glad that there is this forum to share precious information on PS. Now that i have some knowledge on PS, i would like to contribute back!

Anyway, there are very little posts on fat grafting, maybe only until more recent posts. But it is still not comprehensive enough. Also, there are quite limited info and B&F on fat grafting online, especially for fat grafting done in Korea. Therefore, i am very hesitan to get fat grafting in Korea. But i decided to look a leap of faith and get facial fat grafting and other cosmetic procedures (wish me luck!! i really need them!)

I am in Seoul since late July and will be here till mid jan for work related assignment. So if anyone is interested to meet up with me let me know! We can spend New Year Eve together and i can bring you to nice cafes and shopping areas if i am free (i have flexible working hours!)

Anyway, later i will post the details of my consultations with 4 different clinics/hospitals and my take on them. I am very tired now from the drinking sessions from past two days, Koreans are really heavy drinkers. Yes i know i should stop drinking before surgery. ><lll (opps, sry to side track.)

I will also share my knowledge on all the procedures i am getting. Will try to keep u all posted on my post surgery results too! ^^ Hope everyone gets into the spirit of (accurate) information sharing!
