  1. Yes they specialise in BA - i think it's basically the only thing they do

They have a few adverts on the side of buses lol also i know a couple of forumers that went there for their BA

must admit, i looked into FG BA - just didn't feel 100% comfortable with silicone

  2. i feel ya - i tried to blow the lid on this many mths ago...only started to get traction after i 'left' this forum.

unfortunately the ps industry gives a lot of $$$$ to the korean government thru taxes. this industry isn't regulated and the gov won't take down their cash cow.

there's no protection for the consumer - koreans can't even post a negative review about a clinic online...it's illegal.

the documents the clinics get u to sign just before surgery basically (amongst other things) say u won't sue for a botched surgery, even if it is their fault and u can't get monetary compensation

again - this industry isn't regulated and the gov isn't going to want their cash cow negatively affected. if u protest at a clinic, it's actually u that can and will be arrested, the clinic gets away with not even a slap on the wrist

sorry i will say more but this account has already been 'black listed' by the promoters on here - if u read my past posts i've been threatened and all sorts

can't keep a fighter down!!! bring it be-atches!!!! :bagslap:

  3. nicole is actually working at a clinic now...won't mention here tho

  5. Hi LVMom07

What horror stories have yu heard re fat grafting? And specifcally what type of fat grafting - there are several, but the most common are stem cells, PRP and 'normal'. I'm thinking of getting fat graft to my full face and thought I did my extensive research.

Not hatin' just making sure I cover all my areas as I believe the opposite to you - fg is safer than 'foreign' fillers.

N.B: the underlining assumption being that u go with a certified practitioner.

    Peace!

  6. Yes i'm pretty sure on this one as one of the forumers i met in Korea had her surgery done at smallface. when she went back home, she tried to email the dr to ask a few questions - she was told he left to 'study'. she then found out from another forumer that he left for another clinic or to start his own clinic...of course smallface wouldn't tell u where he went to or the name of the clinic so we don't know where he went. BTW she loves her results, very natural.

  7. there's talk re cinderella and they are still a decent clinic esp if u like the more dramatic eyes or nose, but they r a little bit more expensive....and they don't bargain down too much.

they say celebs had their ps done here, but i don't know many korean celebs that admit to even having ANY ps done, so u cannot trust these statements. besides i read that SNSD had their surgeries done at dream...but since then dream has split into two - before & after clinic and dream surgery....dream surgery is where the dr apparently went. again, this is all speculation and it's not like SNSD will ever confirm, so if u ask me, don't trust such statements. also this is slightly old info so who knows where the dr is now - turn over is sooo high in this industry!!!

  8. hiya - yes u can join cafes as a foreigner, but not all of them. trust me when i say there are LOTS of cafes on plastic surgery so u don't have to worry about not being able to join all of them....just keep on trying. naver can be tricky, esp if u don't read hangul

  9. just a quick note...i was active when marir was around and i can say that at least half of the info in her research is now a little old. i know the jaw specialist from view has since left and started his own clinic and the dr from smallface has also done the same. that's the only ones that i know of, but i'm sure there are plenty that have done the same

just wanted to give peeps the heads up that you're not looking for the clinic alone you're primarily looking for the dr...so just be a little smarter and know even some of the b&a pics that clinics posts are work from drs that have since left

    :balloon:

  10. Ok, so i'm not sure if the following list is going to help or scare some of you :search:

Believe me this is just the tip of the ice-berg. apologies if this is stuff u already know or clinics that have been talked about a lot

wonjin at one stage was very popular for the ulzzang look - in fact they held competitions or something back in the day - i don't think they're as popular now as they were about 1-2 yrs ago...pls don't quote me just have a look at this site: http://wonzzang.parkwonjin.co.kr/ i noticed this site hasn't been updated in some time

  11. I'll be there for 3 weeks in Nov...maybe 2 weeks - i;m deciding whether or not i visit friends in another asian city

going for fat grafting, so not 'hard-core' ps, but still doing my due diligence!! :graucho:

  12. hey cookie - here's a small cheat sheet...as u can see i was interested in eyes, but i guess you can replace the word "eyes" with "nose" or "chin" or whatever

naver actual annoyed the cr@p outta me bc it's not very easy to use - u basically need to signed up and get an account. then u need to build up a reputation. what this means is that (especially) with the plastic surgery forums, people make their posts kind of like "private" until u get ahigh enuf rep to view. it's like here at tpf u need to do a few posts and need to be a member for a certain number of days before u can PM....kind of like that. if u google "how to naver" it'll give u more info from ppl that r better experts. i only needed for a certain purpose so am def no expert

우와 넘 이뻐요 ^ ^ Wow your eyes look nice
눈 어디서 하신거에요? Where did you get surgery?
    ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Hahaha or LOL
병원정보 좀 알수 있을까요? Could you let me know which hospital you went to?
    감사합니다 ^^ Thank you
눈 진짜 자연스러워영 ㅋ Real natural eye
수술 정말 잘되셨네요~ 부럽고, 축하드려요~ Congratulations on the surgery. It

우와 눈 정말 잘 되신거 같아요 너무 이뿌용!! Wow I think your eyes are going really well!!

  13. Naver is kind of like the korean version of google (kind of) - so there isn't just this one site with everyone's b&a pics posted. you need to be able to navigate the site, contact people and ask for their b&a pics....this is why it took an non-korean (such as myself) about 2 months to figure out how to navigate. a LOT of effort using google translate, copying & pasting text and trying to teach myself basic Korean to ask some simple questions.

BTW: I can now communicate using VERY basic hangul LOL

all the pics i got I then copied and pasted this into a word doc for future reference

i think a past forumer (who used to be active) Marir posted her naver research results on a post, but it'll be hard to find. i think she was last active around early this yr!! she was the one that basically inspired me to use naver

  14. Thanks ldpark for picking this up - true, my friend did pay $300 BUT it was about 3 years ago. so you're kind of right, locals probaly won't pay that now. i'm sure prices have gone up.

my friend did enquire some quotes for me for PRP fat grafting and she got quoted USD$1k for full face....so I'm hoping when i go there with her i'll pay that amount as well

  15. I think you're talking about Grand - i think they do this method

  16. thanks Shiny!! yeah i think you've got the right way of thinking, but it's not like the forumers are not smart, it's just that sometimes the translators are smarter!!

if ur going to be there for 3 mths, then i would try the universities. i'm going to use my korean friend

  17. TBH i think eyes is a relatively simple procedure (as long as you don't want the dramatic look) so Regen and Grand would be ok - I would consider JW as well, if you want to keep to big clinics.

In terms of after service, I must admit i didn't care about this - as long as the surgeon didn't mess my face up, i can buy my own drinks or wash my own hair. i always thought it's nice to have those things, but for me, skill of surgeon was paramount and after care service was the cherry on top - of course i only had eyes done. service would jump up on my priority list if i were to have any kind of facial surgery

at teiumps their service was pretty ordinary, there are plenty of clinics with better service BUT after the actual surgery i only went back once to have stitches removed and eyes cleaned, so u can see why service wasn't an issue for me...again, it'll be a different story if i had vline or 2-jaw

  18. i think technically any DR should be able to do conservative or dramatic, BUT i think the Drs at EverM just prefer conservative - i guess it comes with the territory of primarily being a maxillofacial specialist and not a plastic surgeon - if that makes sense :P obviously look around and do ur research. i;m sure we both have different views of what's beautiful and what's not

dramatic - possibly view, cinderella is an option or dream (N.B: i have never met with any of these clinics before so i'm not speaking from personally experience, just naver pics i've seen of their work - to me their 'after' pics are dramatic)

  19. FIRSTLY SORRY FOR LONG POST
ok this issue is close to my heart as I've tried warning people on this forum before about translators before - even posted a legitimate link to a Korean news channel's coverage of this very topic.

The increase are even up to double what you should be paying - i.e. fat grafting in korea for a Korean is actually about USD$1k. my model korean friend paid that much. we get quoted between $3-5k. I paid $2.2k for non-incis eye and my same korean friend paid $300 (that's not a typo - three hundred USD).

basically ALL the translators on this forum get commission - i've had offline arguments with some forumers that refuse to believe it. so i told myself...I try and try, but people won't listen - so tbh i gave up. I do my own thing and when I heard these forumers 'praising' these translators for all the help they give them i just think (depending on what surgeries ur having) for the extra USD$1-5k ur paying, they actually should be doing more.

i got a funny feeling people are just going to ask me for 'proof' - my question to you is, "what 'proof' would convince you?" the korean new channel actually posed as fake patients and got undercover footage of the process in action

what translators do is get your 'top 3' (or basically your top choices) - they PM you or get as much info as possible about you from the forum. they negotiate their commission prior to you even going for consult. they will say something like "Alex from NYC will be coming to you in around 1 or 2 Oct for a consult for vline - even if I don't come in with this person, this person is my client and i will expect commission of XXX %" that list of dates we post of when we're going to Korea - that tells them when you're going to consult - most ppl consult within 1-3 days of landing in Seoul. You ask question of other forumers, which tells me what surgery your after. you sometimes even post where ur saying i.e. i'll be staying at Highland Hotel bc it's closest to my top choices etc

they offer you free airport transfer - you think they're being nice when really an airport transfer is like USD$30 AND you don't have to tell a stranger where u are staying - this is traight from "travelling overseas alone 101". never let people you don't know where u are staying when travelling alone.

i know, i know - i've been in the same boat as all of you and paid $2.2k for my non-incis eyes so i do understand that this is a scary journey to go it on your own. and tbh you may have no option but to go with a translator - i do understand. just be informed is all i'm saying. i'm not trying to tear down this process (i'm just one person, without a lot of resources). i actually think, to an extent, we need to keep these translators around, but sometimes they just take u for a ride. getting $1k commission is (relatively) reasonable, but some of these people should be ashamed

you think ur doing well by asking for a quote before you even decide ur top choices, little do you know that they then increase the prices when you get there OR the translator already contacted the clinic before you did OR the person you were PMing is actually either a translator or a person working at a particular clinic

this issue does get me hot & bothered, so apologies if i sound upset (I guess it's bc i am) - but mostly at the end of the day, what can u do? u kind of can't do this without a translator

So what are my suggestions to help you (these are not fool-proof ways of avoiding paying more, just ideas to hopefully assist....also maybe this will start a decent open conversation about this topic - rather than ppl just tearing me down and asking for 'proof' even tho I have tried to post 'proof' before):
    1. never tell anyone where u are staying - this isn't just regarding this issue, but just good practice - just say ur staying near Sinsa Station or Myeongdong station.

    2. try looking for translators outside of this forum (this isn't fool-proof as these translator are smart, i'll give them that!!) - try universities. university students studying english offer free translation services (for tourist traditionally and not medical tourists) or get creative make 'friends' with koreans from random website for 'language exchange' - that's what i've done. even if they can't act as translators they certainly can help looking at websites for you or get quotes (which floors me sometimes, bc I'll ALWAYS get quote more as a foreigner) - i always offer to pay or take them out for dinner, shopping (buy cosmetics if they're female) or drinks...it is also a genuinely good way to make friends. again, i wouldn't tell them where i'm staying or anything - friendship only builds up after i met them f2f

    3. government also offer some translators, but these guys are expensive bc they are totally legitimate i.e. these are the guys that translate official documents etc - they may be expensive per hour, but if you can save money from surgery then u could be better off

    4. use naver - this is where the 'real' information is at. yes, i don't know korean either but google translate is great. took a good 2 mths or so to figure out how to use naver, but once u get the hang of it - the information is priceless. i have a pretty good book of b&a pics from naver - from actual patients and not pics from websites...of all sorts of surgeries

    5. if ur going to the big clinics then ur basically going to pay a lot more - with or without a translator, why? bc they can and bc we pay. nothing wrong with that if u feel comfortable with ur choice

please add to this list is u have good advice to share

PLEASE i'm not taking anyone down. i've had ps before, and i'm going back for seconds in nov (for fat grafting) so i know exactly how you all feel. i just want to keep u all informed and empower each of u to make a more informed choice  no hate

and thanks fo rreading to this point (if u got this far) :lolots:

  20. Shiny, couldn't agree with you more.

Firstly let me say that I'm a bit anti-big clinics...just my opinion - big factories that punch you in & out. if anything goes wrong, you have more chances with fixing the error with prayers than with going back to the clinic.

However, I have seen 1 x Grand nose IRL and it was nice, I must admit. But I also admit that it was only one real life example so that shouldn't be 'proof' that they're a good clinic. Grand is a decent option for nose & eyes (again, IMO), but I totally agree I wouldn't go there for jaw or vline

If you want jaw or vline i would trust EverM - they're conservative tho, so if you want a 'dramatic' look (i.e. dolly look) then they aren't the place to go. However the Drs there are actual proper maxillofacial surgeons. Once of the Drs does quite a bit of charity/volunteer work to help those that suffer facial deformities either from birth or car accidents etc totally legit, but conservative.

do your own research and either qualify or dis-prove any of my statements above...never just trust people over the net

  21. agreed - a little bit of common sense goes a long way

i stayed at airbnb (studio apartment) and was completely fine. in fact the owner made me some pumpkin soup bc i looked like a hot mess after surgery so i guess she felt sorry for me lol

on the other hand a forumer i know had about USD$1k stolen - i had a good experience and her experience wasn't very good

also, I've known people that have had things stolen from a 'proper' hotel

i guess i'm just saying that u can never tell - keep vigilant, use common sense and never keep money in your hotel room/airbnb flat

    STAY SAFE
