Hi Wishingstar,

I had open rhino about 2.5 weeks ago. The scar on the columella is barely visible. I have to really look closely in the mirror to see it. Otherwise, it is very faint and I am sure it will not be noticeable as time passed but not sure about completely invisible.

I've read online about using a scar minimizing gel called Kelo Cote. I've just start using it so I can't say whether it is effective or not yet. You may want to look it up.

Anyone has surgery experience with Banobagi for rhino, chin implant, acculift, or fat graft? Would love to get some information as I will be in Korea soon.

She is guaranteed to expect more visible sagging than she currently has as she gets older. And while I can understand her idea of beauty, i personally do not find that appealing. Its one of the reasons why you will never see a doll faced model on the haute couture runway, be it in Asia or in the West.

I find that when you compare eastern and western standards of beauty, its almost like an extreme juxtaposition. Asians typically have stronger exterior structures (cheekbones, jawbone) but flatter internal structures (mid cheek nose, eye and eye socket elevation) while caucasians have weaker exterior structures but higher internal structures. Notice how the asians are always looking to erase any form of exterior definition in their procedures until they have no definition left, whilst the caucasians are always concerned with getting those higher angelina jolie cheekbones for definition?

I think to meet a desirable form of beauty is to find a balance in between. You are right in saying that a narrow face is not necessarily more beautiful. It is in fact all about symmetry, balance and definition. I have a taiwanese friend who has very strong bone structure with wider cheekbones. However, she has minimal facial fat which doesn't make her face look heavy, a common problem for asian people who have wider cheekbones. She also has close to perfect symmetry and features that balance one another. On paper she does not meet the standard korean version of beauty with her wider bone structure and all. But in person no one can deny how absolutely beautiful she is. I think to really select the right procedure for yourself, you really need to have a good grasp of aesthetics and find out what will work for your facial structure.

You mentioned wanting a cheekbone reduction right? The thing you have to know is and im sure u have realized this by now, any kind of reduction procedure will 100% cause sagging. Any surgeon who says otherwise is a liar. Because logically speaking, once the structure holding your fat, skin tissue and soft tissue is no longer in place, gravity will take it downwards. Now the degree to which this occurs depends how much bone has been manipulated. Hence why if you do not have extruding cheekbones, you are not a good candidate for the procedure. Same goes with the jaw reduction procedure. I simply take it as a process. I never assume i can get it right after the first time and am always prepared for alternatives to achieving my look. For example, when i realized the side effects of the jaw reduction, i went and got myself a concentric malar lift to reverse all the sagging. When i realized my issue wasn't with my cheekbones but my facial fat and soft tissue i went and got lipo and acculift to obtain the narrow face with the high defined cheekbones. Its all about selecting the right procedure, and the right method and the right surgeon.

I have visited all 3 clinics, and finally had surgery with TL PS.
I had enough research before I go to Korea to pick those three clinics, so I didn't really care any clinic among them. I was pretty sure they are all good.
Only thing that I wanted to know was the people who will work for ME as well as the clinic. I feel the most comfortable with TL PS so I made my mind with them. They are friendly and helpful, and I liked the doctor's attitude.

I also was afraid of jaw surgery so much, That's why I had chin Implant instead 2 years ago. But now I think that To get V line face as you think in your mind?? Get jaw reduction. other surgeries or treatment will also can help to get V line face, but definitely jaw reduction gave me the effect as I expect!
(I'm sure It's different by cases, It is only my own opinion;P)
I wouldn't lie, It was PAINFUL. and very uncomfortable!
but the pain only last 2 days, after that, It wasnt that bad. Still uncomfortable because of the stitches in my mouth tho
Only after 2 more days, I will remove all the stitches and flying back home!!

Today is day 7 after the surgery, and my mom removed her stitches on her hip
she had fat graft, and she looks sooooo young, and seems like most of swelling has gone.
but I still have stitches in my mouth, and my face is still swollen..
I will need to be patient more..

Yeah that's Dr Mendelson's site. I've never asked him something specific as what other surgeon can perform the chin augmentation in the states as i've been fortunate enough to live in the same city as him. I do know that from time to time surgeons from overseas would fly in to learn his technique. After the first operation i had with him there was a south american surgeon who observed during my post op check up and he currently has 2 visiting korean surgeons who have come to learn from him too. But unfortunately i never bothered to ask their names as they weren't operating on me lol.

Not sure how long he procedure takes for the chin because i did it in conjuncture with the concentric malar lift and i was completely knocked out (general anesthesia) for over 4 hours. I do know that its not as fast as when using a ready made implant tho because hydroxy requires first fixing he granules with your own blood into a putty form, then it is artfully molded onto your bone into the desired shape. It later fuses with your bone over a period of time. That's probably why it feels so natural.

Healing for chin area is pretty quick. 2 weeks and most swelling was gone

I've had a friend who used soft silicone (not ultra soft) for the chin area. She looks great. Only thing she complains about is that she can't rest on her chin as the implant makes the area delicate when pressure is exerted. This doesn't seem like an issue to me at all....i mean how often do we even do that? I just wouldn't recommend goretex or any type of hard implant.

Thanks for the reply. Does your friend has problem with the implant shifting? I don't normally rest on my chin either so that wouldn't be a problem.

Hydroxy seems to be the ideal material but it is pretty much permanent. I think if I were to get my chin augmentation with hydroxy then I would only trust a skilled surgeon. It seems like reversal or getting it removed will be very hard as it bonds to your bone.

I'm glad! That's great to hear. I guess the Power V lift takes some time to see the results. I've initially considered this but am having second thought now because it seems to take a while to recover and I only have 2 weeks off from work. Are you still wearing the head support?

It's a similar procedure as acculift but dr said the difference is they suck the fat out while acculift use the laser to melt the fat. And it is a combination of acculsculp +ultrasound treatment. Then you need to wear a head support for the whole month during the day whenever you can to mold the face. But I am not recommending it for now as 4 weeks post op my chin still droop and have fat or swell. I am not sure about final result yet. Right now I am a bit worried to tell the truth.

This is what I'm trying to do. I'm thinking to get chin augmentation to achieve a more v line shape. I don't want to get invasive surgery but maybe I should reconsider it....I would be extremely happy if fat graft can be use for chin but I heard the result doesn't last long...I don't want to always have to come back for touchup surgery either...sigh..

hydroxy granules is a very good material and feels 100% natural. As in, you don't feel a thing at all lol. If it was suitable for nose implants i would totally use it but sadly its not. For chin it can be done but the incision must be through underneath and not intra orally. After that kenacort is administered to prevent and remove any scarring. I can't tell you who else besides Dr Mendelson can perform it because this technique requires alot of skill and few surgeons are trained in it. While Dr Mendelson actually pioneered the use of coral for facial contouring. I think he actually recently gave a seminar about using hydroxy granules for the chin area. But you should note that Dr Mendelson is really expensive, in part because he is one of the most renowned surgeons in the world but also because surgeon in Australia is just very pricey even compared to the US.

Oh and PS i didn't realize this until i spoke to Dr Mendelson yesterday but it turns out that i did actually have paranasal surgery done lol. But it wasn't done using silicone but rather as part of the process for the concentric malar lift + hydroxyappatite. I always wondered why my creases had disappared after the surgery and i guess that explains it lol. But this should give you an example of how natural it is as often paranasal implants feel uncomfortable but yet i didn't even have any idea i had the procedure done all these years haha

Thanks for the plethora of information that you provide to the forum. I never heard of hydroxy granules until reading your posts in this forum partly due to the fact that it is not very common since you mentioned it requires a lot of skills. I'm interested in getting chin augmentation. I have decent symmetry but I feel that it is weak and short. I think it would most likely be understated especially after I get my rhino done. I feel that it will help balance out my face and create a sharper v line.

Does Dr. Mendelson recommend any other surgeon that can perform chin augmentation with hydroxy granules in the states? How long does the procedure takes? How long is the healing period? Also, do you mind sharing the cost of your chin augmentation with Dr. Mendelson? Is this Dr. Mendelson's website?

Today my colleague just ask me..."Hey, I heard you're taking a month off. Where are you going?"

I replied... "ummm...I'm going to visit my grandma in Indonesia".

And now I'm so worry if my eyes will look normal by the time I return back to work. If my colleague can tell, then she'll know I'm telling a lie. I don't mean to lie.....It will also be so awkard for me. But I can't said I'm going to Korea for PS.

The last time my eyes took me quite long to recover and look normal. I guess I've bad circulation in my body and weak body constituent. I need a longer period to recover.

What can we do to speed up the swollen look on eyes after surgery?

I'm just telling my boss and coworker that I'm going on vacation in Seoul. At the end of the day, it is our face and we have to look at it everyday. I was apprehensive about my colleagues' reaction too when I get back to work but I'm doing this for me not for them so don't worry too much!

Dr Park said its still swollen and will take about 3 weeks to settle down, i was advised to use the nose cast at night for two months. I hope my nose will look better soon...

The aculift works for me...no more turkey neck for me.
