Hi Vitalic!

How long after two-jaw surgery did Dr. Yoon say you can get your eyes done. I am really hoping to get under eye fat graft after my two-jaw during my stay in Korea.

Also, How are your facial nerves healing? Is more sensation returning more and more each day?

Two weeks post op two jaw update:
Feeling better every day. The swelling is going down very slowly at this point and I'm still very swelled up, in my eyes at least. People who know me say I don't look that swelled up.

Everything is going very well so far and these are the things that are still bothering me:
Low energy. This is getting better every day but I think I still only have about 50% of the energy I used to have. If I go out in the morning, I'm dead tired in the afternoon. I think having low energy also makes me moody. I'm usually always happy and optimistic, but I've felt irritable and annoyed quite often in the last two weeks.

Elastics in my mouth. Makes eating and talking annoying. Also changing them is a pain in the *** because my gums have overgrown the hooks and I literally have to tear my gums apart a bit every time I put the elastics on. It bleeds and hurts a lot. Ouch!

I'm still getting stuffy nose and have to use nasal drops to be able to comfortably breathe.

The biggest annoyance, though, is how slowly the swelling seems to be going down. I walk a lot and get the deswelling treatment at EverM everyday, but I'm getting pretty impatient.

In the end, though, I'm still always very happy I had the surgery. There have been so many improvements to my face just from two jaw and all these annoyances will be over eventually.

Hey guys, just a quick update on my Two Jaw surgery (for facial asymmetry and mandibular prognathism) experience at EverM. It's been 4 days since the surgery and I'm recovering great so far! ^^

A quick run through of what happened:

Day 1:
Went into the surgery at around 12pm and came out around 5pm. Felt pretty bad post GA nausea, cold, heat, sore throat, headache etc. Really wanted to drink water and sleep but this isn't allowed for 4 hours after the surgery. Kept falling asleep and waking up every hour until the next morning. Coughed up blood and phlegm, vomiting ... Pretty bad, but this was all expected.

The nurses speak very limited English, but it's enough to get understood and they are all very nice. Dr Yoon came in and informed me that the surgery went very well!

Day 2:
More of the same, but all the symptoms decreased. Day 1 and 2 were pretty terrible, but felt very happy when I looked in the mirror and saw my asymmetry and proganthism corrected! ^^ Correcting my prognathism also makes it look like I got a really nice nose job! Loving this

Day 3:
Felt much better. Only major problems are sore throat and stuffy nose. Nasal spray helps, but I'm limited to how much I can use. Disconnected from my IV fluid and feeling good enough to walk around the ward to reduce the swelling. There were three other patients also recovering from Two Jaw. From their name cards, I notice all three of them also had zygoma reduction and V-line surgeries.

Day 4:
Discharged from the clinic. Face very swollen, living on a liquid diet and a bit weary, but recovering quickly. The worst part is over!

Next appt with the doctor is in one week and I'll have my rubber bands on my teeth removed.

Overall, very happy with EverM so far! I've been very satisfied with Dr Yoon from the beginning and haven't been disappointed yet. These past few days have been very very difficult, but looking back, I would do the whole thing all over again in a heartbeat. Can't wait to see what my face will look like once the swelling goes down completely!

Went for consultations with ID, Grand, BK and EverM and just decided to go for two-jaw at EverM in a few days. I'll try to post updates unless I feel too terrible to write. The initial quoted price was 14 mil krw but I managed to bargain down a bit. Wish me luck! ^^

maybe someone will have better luck w/translating, but i see no degree earned for plastic surgery, but an impressive list of degrees, membership, and experience w/ maxillofacial/ oral- surgery/ reconstruction.

Yonsei University school of dentistry: graduate and post graduate degrees
Yonsie University dental clinic intern, resident,
and the rest lists his membership in various organizations.

There are other doctors, Dr. Suh, a lady doctor Im and others. The funny thing is most of them are graduates of Yonsei University, which is a top university in Korea (with Seoul University being the best...) it seems that there's some loyalty to their alma matar. Researching doctors at differernt clinics, I noticed a pattern where graduates of Seoul University group together and now I noticed that at Everm Yonsei graduates group together.

Anyway, I think you're absolutely right about going to a dental clinic for 2-jaw surgery for maximum safety. but I think someone mentioned, you might be trading for safety and losing out an aesthetic touch that a good plastic surgeon might have. but then 2-jaw surgery was supposed to be a "corrective" surgery and not an aesthetic one. but in all honesty, most of us, including myself it is more for aethetic reason. there are just some things that regular facial contouring just can't do!

in any case, if i were interested in just doing 2-jaw and nothing else, everm would be on the top of my list. not only just for safety, and mpressive doctor's credentials but most importantly, his experience- the number of these kinds of surgeries he must have done. it's probably in the hundreds if not thousands. i'm thinking he's probably seen it all in term 2-jaw issues.

my only concern would be that there are other doctors there, who seem to have similar education as Dr. Yoon, but not the experience, which is what counts. so would be concerned about doctor swap.

I believe the other doctor is not a surgeon, but the man who deals with the wafer and less invasive dental procedures such as braces.

1 month post op (2 jaw,V line,cheekbone reduction)

*My face looks presentable now,i've been told by other forumers that are here now that the swelling isn't noticeable and that I look good.
*The only pain feel is me biting on my gums if i try to chew(which is pretty painful) and I have a slight headache,just slight, from the cheekbone reduction
*Had my 5th and final dentist appointment yesterday and was confronted with devastating news

---- I mentioned before that my gum chewing can cause an infection,so my doctor recommended that I stay here in Korea for another 2 weeks so that they an extract my two lower wisdom teeth,in order to resolve this supposed major issue.My response of course was HELL NOO.I kindly declined but he seemed worried about the issue.

----- BTW I left my last dental appointment almost in tears because it really hurt,my mouth was tender and my doc was just prying open my mouth and pushing and pulling it in all directions. They also wanted to shave down my wisdom teeth so I wouldn't bite my gums but I can't open my mouth wide enough yet so they couldn't do it.

---- So when I go back to the states I will be getting a second to opinion as to whether or not I need to extract my wisdom teeth.

---- The jaw exercises that I am doing is such a pain because it hurts when I put too much strain on my mouth but i'm told I have to do it,so i will

--- I'm not worried about a so called infection because I believe in mind over matter,I get that the doc has my best interest at heart and all but i believe my mouth will heal on its own in its own time without me rushing things.I also believe in natural remedies so what I will do is rub some Bentonite Clay every night on my gums for 2 weeks.What bentonite clay does is suck out toxins so my gums would be free of bacteria or viruses and it also helps the swelling go down.Its what people use for scorpion bites,eczema,acne,rosacea and all that

- I know i've been praising EVERM dental clinic since the beginning and i think they did a good job with my face(I mean I like what I see so far) but i feel like I should have been informed about the possibility of this issue beforehand,but then again I was told that what happened to me is rare and doesn't really happen to anyone else. It only happened because I did my extractions beforehand. I didn't have enough space in my mouth so my gums were squished together between my wisdom teeth so now there's extra skin hanging over both sides of my mouth and it is causing havoc.

---I'm just going to wait another 3 months and see if this issue will resolves itself.Like I said I believe in mind over matter so in my head my gums are already healed and I will do what I need to at home to rectify this minor faux pas because other than this little glitch, everything is all good.The swelling is going down and I can sleep on face(Hell yes)

--- I'm excited to say that I leave South Korea tomorrow morning,I mean I love the place but ive been feeling really nostalgic. I literally cannot wait to see my family and friends again.Feel like I haven't seen them in ages

--- I will not be posting on a weekly basis like I have been because i wrote about the most critical parts of the process already.I will most likely do another update like this a month from now because I have to get back to reality,my vacation is over.It was great,painful at times but it is finally over (The vacation I mean,not the recovery process)

Thank you. The surgeon did bone grafting for my jaw.

He cut off part of my mandibles and use it to advance my jaw, because I have receding chin.

So it's like sliding genioplasty with mandible reduction.

Can someone please tell me how long the swelling will last? I miss the ability to chew lolz.

Now I basically just survive on liquid diet.

Oh and yesterday, I bought some delicious strawberry from Namdaemun market and made strawberry milkshake! Yum!

I emailed the doctor and got a response as well. He seems very knowledgeable, so I'm going to have to research this. Maybe I spoke too soon, I emailed Golden Ratio and was told by the doctor that they don't use Osteo-trans because he doesn't believe they are strong enough! sigh He also told me that they he can do multiple procedure ( facial contouring, 2-jaw with face lifting) all in one shot. along with fixed prices, this would have cinched the deal for me, so I was hoping he used dissolvable screws, but now I have to research this.
If anyone finds more info about titanium vs. dissolvable screws like Osteo Trans, please share! I'm trying to find the time to research...

Golden Ratio recently update their website with new fixed prices (now lists prices for all procedures including eyes/ nose...) and thought I would share. i've been researching other clinics but seem to keep coming back to golden ratio and everm. First, i thought golden ratio didn't do lifting, but looking at their price, i noticed they do face lifting!! This clinic is definitely on my short list. I wanted to share some observations with you about this clinic that are different ( in a good way from other clinics that i researched on the web. This is for people who are interested in getting a natural subtle results, not a dramatic makeover.

1. They publicly post all of their FIXED prices of their procedures on their website with certification to prove it. They seem to take pride in this, and that means no haggling or fear of being overcharged for customers, especially us- non korean natives.

2. If you look at their homepage where clinics show case their best work, golden ratio has a VIDEO ( not photoshopped pictures) of average looking people with natural looking results. They don't look like knock-outs or a "cinderella- makeover". they look just like themselves but better. I really respect this because it communicates the doctors approach to surgery and he is not selling unrealistic expectations.

3. If you look at their before and after page, the lighting for both the before and after photos is the same. The photos do not look touched up, and their faces are not photo-shopped to look smaller and their skin isn't air-brushed unlike other clinics.

I think we've all seen our share of all those amazing before and after photos on other websites, especially the big clinics where everyone looks like a supermodel in their after pics. and their faces are shrunken w/ photoshop and their skin look flawless. This turned me off because it is so deceptive just to draw people in, setting people up for impossible expectations and disappointment when their own afters don't look as good.

4. It states on their website that the doctor will turn people down for any facial contouring procedures that he thinks are unnecessary base on the 3Dscan and his professional expertise/ philosophy ( natural, balanced look). This is very reassuring because some of the clinics seem to turn out extreme looking people that look fake.

5. The doctor has excellent credentials ( I posted a webclip of his credentials on another post under the Post Prices Thread). He is certified, has an MD and phD in his field, is/was a professor of plastic surgery at Seoul University and got his experience working at some big clinics before branching out on his own.

6. He's the only doctor at his clinic, so no fear of doctor switching...

To me, alll the above to be are signs of an honest clinics, or at least a clinic that is making a huge attempt at being honest to their customers. This is refreshing and reassuring. This clinic is on top of my short list.

Anyway below is the my rough translation of the pricing page for goldenratio ( i apologize in advance if there are any mistakes because my korean isn't very good..)

But I am a little concerned by their prices which is ironic. The prices seem too good to be true! Sometimes cheaper is not always better. I hope his prices aren't low because he is desperate for clients since he has a bad reputation or maybe because he just opened his clinic which is why the costs are lower....but this is just a guess though.

I plan to go to seoul this summer for cosmetic work, but the clinic I want to go to seems to not have any english translators (I'm from America).

What should I do? Should I higher a translator? If so, what is the best way to go about with this. Also, does anyone know the average price to higher a translator and where to find one in seoul.

I read on a plastic surgery site called "realself.com" that a doctor reported that one of his patents in the past had alloderm put in the lips and it harden over time therefore he does not recommend it....it would suck if it hardened under our eyes!...alloderm is a cadaver's dead tissue..eww lol

i believe its muscle ..like red meat tissue, but I could be wrong, cause on bk's site, they had the option: autologous fat grafting love band, filler, and autologous tissue love band created by one of their doctors..... so thats strange... google said autologous means transfer of tissue from one area to another. I only saw it on their site and not on any other english translated sites

Hello Paxsky:]

I feel that if ur gums do not show, it is a good thing, but the doctor may need to mess with ur upper and lower teeth attached the jaw. In other words, to achieve a smaller face, I'm guessing the doctor will need to push ur jaw with chin back substantially. Since the lower teeth is obviously attached to ur lower jaw, it would move back a lot too along with the moving back of the chin and lower jaw, so the doctor will need to move those lower teeth as well as well as moving the upper jaw into a position that they would align cause if he didn't u would look like a piranha lol. The moving of the teeth is called ASO (anterior segmental osteotomy)....which is very much commonly done with two-jaw or is part of that surgery.
