  1. Oops looks like I mixed them up in my previous post then, haha.
Strip is FUT and strand is FUE but those prices I gave were for FUT method.
And I guess that means FUE will be more expensive than that, ouch.

Another person did hair transplant recently at Mega and here's what she paid:
    Mega - (FUT?) 1700 graft at 2.8mil
She didn't actually tell me whether she did FUE or FUT but putting the price in perspective with the previous ones, I assume it's FUT:
    Mega - FUT 1000 graft for 2.5mil
    Maxwell - FUT 3200 graft for 4.5mil

For your question regarding the prices, I think Mega's would be quite standard considering the two prices given. The person who paid 2.5mil told me hers was a low price but after seeing the second person price (and I don't think she did anything special bargaining), I think that's just what the clinic made her think, haha. Maxwell's price is probably standard KOREAN price, because they only use Korean in the first place.

For your other questions, I seriously have no idea. You should ask the doctors during your consultations and they would probably be able to give a more accurate answer. However, like what the doctor said in the video, you could use FUT strip taking hair from the back of your head to fill in the front of your hairline and then use FUE strand taking body hair to replace the FUT donor site. I think that would produce a better result though I'm worried that it will cost double since its double the work.

Have you decided when you're going to Korea?

  2. I'm planning to look into hair transplant surgery as well.

First thing I would like to point out is the so called "professional" names of the types of hair transplant.
Strip hair transplant - FUE (Follicle Unit Extraction)
Strand hair transplant - FUT (Follicle Unit Transplantation)

FUT is more expensive than FUE because it is more tedious to extract the hairs by strands.

I will most likely be going with FUT because as you said, I don't want scarring. Females would be fine because they can cover it easily with long hair but as a male, that's very difficult. Another pro with FUT is that they can use almost any hair for the implant, meaning if your body hair is thick enough, you can use it instead of using hair on your head! This is important to me as I think removing head hair to add head hair is a bit dumb.

For now, I have 2 clinics in mind, Mega and Maxwell. I heard about from people who have done hair transplant surgery at those clinics respectively. Here are the prices I heard they paid:
    Mega - FUT 1000 strands for 2.5mil
Maxwell - FUT 3200 strands for 4.5 mil

As you can see, Maxwell is cheaper and is also one of the more renowned clinics for hair related surgery. They are specialists who only do hair so they would definitely do a good job. The only problem is THEY ONLY DEAL IN KOREAN. If you don't speak/understand Korean, it will be very difficult to go with them. I am desperately learning Korean now so I can try and consult with them when I go to Korea.

  3. Does anyone know how the surgery seasons are in Korea?
I know that the school holidays are busy seasons because more students will visit the clinics.
I heard that October which is when I intend to go is a low traffic season but I have no idea why.
I hope to go on a low season so I have more room to bargain since I am on a tight budget.
Does anyone know why October is a low season? I need some convincing, haha.

  4. Ooh, that is a good price imo. Less than 3 mil KRW for each surgery is a very good price.
Only problem is that I'm not sure how good SM is at facial contouring.
I would trust them to do my eyes and nose since I've seen the result for that but facial contouring is a whole different thing. Will consult with them though, thanks.

  5. I think something that people need to note for facial contouring is that the type of surgery and extent does factor into the costs.

For example, quick zygoma and 3d zygoma are different and are/should be priced differently. Clinics may advertise a very cheap price for zygoma to attract customers but you need to take note that this low price is usually the price for quick zygoma which only reduces the side cheekbones and not the front cheekbones. So the important thing is to not be fooled by the price and go to the clinic with that price in mind if you want to do 3d zygoma and also not be fooled into paying the price for 3d zygoma if you are doing only quick zygoma.

  6. Well, first of all I should probably clarify that I'm male. XD
But from that picture alone, I agree with you that the photo on the right does look much better. I'll probably get the doctors/consultants to do a photoshop projection of what I'll look like for each kind of zygoma and decide from there.

EDIT: Where did you get that image from though? It seems like it could come from somewhere with more educational details.

  7. From what I've heard, foreigners will never get the exact listed price on the ads but you can certainly use them as a bargaining chip. Show the ad and show them that you know the price and how low they can actually go. You will probably get a lower price than someone who doesn't have the ad though you won't get what locals get.

  8. Ahh, I see, that's pretty educational. The good news is that's probably what I want to do for the mandible, my jaw isn't really square. I really just want what you mentioned, a triangle portion cut out. So that's a good thing to know for negotiation so I don't get tricked into paying the price for a full square jaw surgery.

The zygoma is something I will need to consider though, whether quick zygoma or 3D zygoma will be necessary. People have told me that my zygoma don't protrude that much so quick zygoma could probably work but I feel slightly otherwise. That's something I have to consider then... ~o~

EDIT: Do you know what's a reasonable/advertised price for 3D zygoma then?

  9. In my opinion, Girin's prices aren't low, they are just about average or even slightly higher than average. The thing is, for some clinics such as Braun and Opera, they have posted ads on Babitalk offering Zygoma for 2.5mil and Mandible for 2.5-3.5mil. Of course I don't expect to get that price but I don't expect to pay way over it either. Setting a budget of 8 mil for those is already considerably higher than the advertised price and adding 2 mil for the eye surgery is exactly 10 mil. That's my rationale for the price. I am fine with not doing the nose job because my nose isn't too bad and I can always get it done later since it is fairly minor compared to facial contouring.

Of course, I am still not sure if this is realistic so I would appreciate your further comments after reading my thoughts. ;)

  10. Hi, you see very knowledgeable on prices so I'm hoping you can help me out a little. ><
I'm planning to do Zygoma + Mandible + Ptosis w/ Double Eyelid with a total budget of W10mil if I do my surgeries in October as my current plans. Preferably 9 to 9.5 mil so I can do a slight nose adjustment as well. (I don't need much for nose really.)

Can you recommend me some clinics which will be within my budget?
Currently, I'm looking at Opera and Braun based on their Babitalk ads though they will probably quote higher for foreigners.

Or should I just scrap the idea and push it back further to save more money?

    Thanks!

  11. You'd have to tell us the specific surgeries you are doing for those prices in order for us to judge it but that's probably the foreigner price. Also Wonjin has a bad reputation so please stay away for your own safety.

  12. Which clinics do you recommend for decent prices then? :graucho:

  13. Well, I'm actually not looking for any particular look, not specifically trying to look like that guy in the photo. At this point I'm ready to settle for anything that is generally considered attractive that I can get. :P

Its funny you mention that I have an underbite because at least from the alignment of my teeth, I don't have one. XD But thanks on your input for my protruding mouth, 2 jaw surgery is a little too expensive for me but I will consider braces or chin augmentation. ;)

In fact, chin surgery sounds about right because the guy in that picture did go for it and he came out looking great:

Just for reference, he had 3 surgeries: forehead, eyelid and chin surgery.

  14. Hi purseforum,

I saw another forum thread "AUS Male..." so I figured I should try posting on my case as well and hope to to get some responses and opinions on it.

Right now I'm considering facial countouring surgery, mainly zygoma reduction for my and v-line surgery.

I've already decided to get eyelid surgery so please don't mind me using my amateur paint skills to cut my eyes out of the pictures. :P

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

I'm pretty much set on the v-line surgery as I dislike my protruding jawline as seen in the side profile picture.

So my main question is this: Should I go for the Zygoma Reduction surgery?

Some guys can pull off cheekbones, some guys can't. I'm having difficulty deciding whether I can. Not going for it will make it much easier for me financially, as well as allow me to go for the surgery trip sooner as I need lesser time to save the money.

For example, some examples of people who pull off cheekbones are Hyun Bin, as well as this other person who posted a blogpost of his plastic surgery, Daryl Yow. (pictured below)

SOOO... PLEASE HELP ME, THANKS! :graucho:

  15. Hi KCouture, was wondering if you could answer a few questions for me.
    1) Sometimes I see "mini vline" surgery, is it different from standard vline or just another word?
    2) How much will recovery/staying in Korea while recovering cost?
    3) Which clinics have in-house translators? I've mostly settled on Regen but I'll still just go around other clinics to browse and for bargaining power, e.g. I can say that another clinic I went to charges less for the same surgery.

    Thanks!

  16. Now those two I bolded I am interested in.
I trust Regen because a blogger from my country, Singapore did her surgery there and posted up her experience.
If possible could you help me take a screenshot of the advertisement so I can refer to it and use it for bargaining in the future? :P
