  1. I'm 37 years old. I would still say proceed with caution for the epicantho and ask for measurements and lots of questions to clarify any doubts. I'm happy with the fat graft but the initial few weeks were horrendous, I looked very plastic.

Drop me an email and I'll send you photos.

  2. It is week 10 post op. I must say I'm a lot happier now. I was still quite depressed at week 6 and have had quite a few people from this forum sending me words of encouragement over email. I'm ever so thankful to everyone who had taken the time and effort to write because those emails boosted my morale and made me feel so much better.

Things really turned the corner for me at week 8. A lot of the initial swelling and redness subsided. I'm feeling less self conscious and don't feel the need to hide behind my sunglasses any more.

My eyes are looking more symmetrical now. I'm also losing the feline look(thank God!!) which i reckon is largely due to the swelling going away. Right eye epi slightly overdone making my right eye look a bit bigger but i think i can live with it. I also think with the redness from the epicantho subsiding, my eyes do not look like they're that close together anymore.

My nose is also smaller and straighter though still a tad crooked on close inspection..again I can live with it as I would say I'm 75-80% satisfied with everything now and given more time(as it's only week 10), i'm hoping things will get even better. I really don't fancy going through more surgeries and am not chasing for perfection...who has a perfectly symmetrical face and features anyway?

The consultant from View called me today just to make sure I'm okay and requested that I send her some recent photos because I kakao'ed her at week 6 with my concerns. I felt so touched because, bearing in mind that I live in the UK, being thousands of miles away the clinic could've just taken my money and forget about my existence. She was also very reassuring when I kakao'ed her a month ago and gave me her word, saying that if i'm still unhappy half a year down the road, their medical team will definitely help me.

Again, I'm happy to answer any questions and share photos

  3. My heart goes out to you  and I really pray that the clinic will take responsibility.

I totally agree that NICE means nothing when it comes to PS because we're not looking for life partners! The doctors and staff at the clinic (View, in case anyone is wondering) I went to are NICE too but my eyes turned out bad.

Meanwhile, as hard as it is..try not to regret because it'll only make you feel worse  *hugs*

  4. So I thought I'll try to write a post every 4-6 weeks just to give anyone reading this thread a better idea of my recovery process.

It is 4 weeks 3 days post op today. I am trying my hardest not to feel sad about the way my eyes turned out. I measured crudely with a ruler and it looks like my lids are about 7-8mm-ish, from eyelashes to incision when eyes are closed, and 2.5mm-ish when eyes are open. Too high for the shape and size of my eyes...i don't know and too late too over analyse now

At the moment, I think look a bit sleepy(almost like I can't lift my lids fully) and my eyes seem small and upward slanting especially in the morning when I'm most swollen. It gets better in the afternoon when swelling subsides. I can also feel that my left eyelid is slightly more swollen than the right eyelid.

The redness at and around the epicantho incision sites is slowly subsiding. The clinic did not give me any cream or ointment for the epicantho. They only prescribed an antibiotic ointment to apply on incision sites for a week after surgery. My inner corner were getting quite red and itchy after I left Seoul so I started using Avene Cicalfate - a repair cream recommended by a surgeon on Realself for eyelid surgery, and that seem to help with the itch and redness. There is a small raised bump at my lower right eyelid where the doctor did the epi, I'm hoping it will flatten over time. If it doesn't, I'm wondering if steroid injection will help further down the road? Anyone experienced the same?

As for my nose, it is still very slightly crooked. I asked the consultant over Kakao and sent her a photo. According to her, she asked Dr Kim and he said the asymmetrical swelling can cause the nose to look crooked so I should wait a few more months. Again, anyone had a similar experience? If so, did your nose look straighter after swelling subsided?

On an ending note, I've read somewhere before that the pain associated with plastic surgery really is not so much physical but psychological..oh how true!

  5. Hi there.. I got my eyes done at View clinic as well and they turned out awful! despite having higher creases (too high for the shape and size of my eyes), ptosis correction and epicantho..my eyes look more tired, puffy, smaller and slightly slanted. Botched big time.I really hate what the epicantho has done to me. The doctor doesn't have a very good aesthetic sense. During the final follow up appointment he had the nerve to say 'your eyes are now bigger and brighter'.

  6. Thanks Nicole, that is reassuring to know. Did you experience any lumpiness or unevenness when the fats were reabsorbed?

  7. It is 3 weeks post op now. Most of the bruises faded by day 10-11 post op. I was still very puffy especially around the cheeks at that time, my face looked really big  My face has lost some of the volume since, thank God but I am definitely still swollen..I look I'm retaining water facially, especially around my eye area.

I can also feel a slight ridge under my left eye. But it has only been three weeks so i hope everything will even out over time.

Feeling really depressed about my eyes at the moment because I also did double eyelids incision method, ptosis correction and epicanthoplasty. My eyes look really weird, a bit too closed together (because of the epicantho) and coupled with the fat graft, the whole eye area is rather swollen, puffy and cat-like  I can only wait now, for everything to calm down and de-swell.

To be honest, i wished i hadn't done the fat graft.

For anyone considering fat grafting, especially for whole face..the downtime is definitely more than 2 weeks. I think it takes a couple of months before you loose that puffy look.

  8. It is still early days, only 2 weeks 3 days post op. Now i'm just praying it will heal and straighten more. Where did you have your rhino?

Haha, I do think you get used to looking at it. At the moment, i'm trying to stay positive. my nose is the least of my concerns to be honest..my eyes sigh..that's another story altogether  thank you for your words of encouragement, means a lot to me.

  9. Its only been 2 weeks and 3 days so my epi scar is still slightly red and 'raw'. Hopefully they'll heal well. You know what, I'm not even considering View for my revision. Why would I go back to the same doctor who botched my eyes?

There are a few forumers who had successful epi revision and I'm looking into those clinics. I'll wait 6 months to a year to let everything settle and heal.

  10. Hi there, I had my eyes, nose and fat grafting done at View Clinic in March and like you also really regret the epicantho. I look really strange now and try my best not to cry whenever i look in the mirror. Doctors shouldn't just recommend it thoughtlessly as not everyone is a suitable candidate.

I know Eve, Shinseung and Dr Ahn have been mentioned in this forum for epi reversal in Korea. I'm not sure about Japan though. I am still researching and will try and share what I can find.

Hang in there and best of luck with your revision.

  11. Hi Ayupop, please make sure whoever you're going to do your surgery with examines you properly, to ensure you're a suitable candidate for epicanthoplasty. This procedure can really change the way you look and not everyone has to have epi done to 'open up their eyes'. I had epi done and really regret it. It happened to quite a lot of forumers as well. So don't just naively take the doctor's word for it.

  12. No, my advice is never put a deposit without going for a consult at the clinic and meeting the doctors first. Not unless you're 200% sure about your decision.

I consulted at View Clinic on a wednesday and got surgery slots for friday. But then again I was there 2nd week of March. I'm not sure if June is a busy period? Have you shortlisted any clinics?

  13. Hey there, sorry for the late reply. Go to their online consult page and leave a message. They usually reply in a few days.

    Here's the link: http://en.e-dream.co.kr/consult/online

BTW, I did my primary rhino at View Clinic. It's 2 weeks and 2 days post op. Bridge is a tad high for my liking and my nose, upon close examination, looks very slightly crooked but was told the swelling can cause asymmetry at first. Also read some forumers' experience with initial crookedness but that sorted itself out when swelling subsides. Fingers crossed and I shall see what happens and update again.

Also did my eyes at View but am not happy with the result. I had incision and ptosis correction. I was also recommended epicantho but am obviously not a suitable candidate for it. I don't look Chinese anymore..my eyes look 'western' now but not in a good way  It was never my intention to look more 'western'..all i wanted was bigger, brighter looking set of peepers. Now trying my best to stay positive, not fall into depression and avoid looking into mirrors!

  14. Yes not everyone need epicantho...i didn't but was recommended it by my doctor and now deeply regret doing it because it makes me look 'western' in a strange way  I'm looking for a good revision doctor now.

  15. You should be very thankful because I really regret my epicantho. Not everyone is a suitable candidate and doctors shouldn't just recommend it as standard procedure. The epicantho has left me look 'western' but not in a good way and my eyes look slanted and too close together. I am 2 weeks 2 days post op and can't wait for the 6 months mark until i can do a reverse epicantho.

  16. Hi everyone,

So it is 2 weeks and 2 days since my surgeries at View. I just want to write about my experience and results just to give back to this forum.

Dr. Kim Taek Kyun did my nose. I like the shape but it looks very slightly crooked on very close examination and shows up more in photos than in person. But i'm told it is the swelling that's causing the asymmetry and that it will straighten once swelling goes away. Some members on this forum experienced the same before....so fingers crossed, we shall see. He also did my fat grafting, forehead, temples, and mid face. I had a lot of bruising and swelling which has now mostly subsided though my cheeks still look puffy and chipmunk-ish..hopefully that will go away with time,

Dr. Kim Jeong Min did my eyes. He recommended incisional double eyelids(to get rid of some excess skin), ptosis and epicanthoplasty. My eyelids are a bit too high and I DEEPLY REGRET the epicantho and I caution anyone of Asian/Chinese descent who's considering it to think twice and then think twice again. I don't think I was a suitable candidate for epicantho to start with, but was naive as the couple of clinics I consulted with both recommended it to 'make my eyes look bigger'. Also, doctors shouldn't just dish out epicantho as standard protocol... when i received replies from my email consults, every single one recommended it thoughtlessly.

The eye procedures made me look more 'western' but not in a good way, there is no facial harmony and I look quite strange. My eyes are more slanted and closer together because I had my nose bridge raised as well. I remember asking him during consult if epicantho will cause my eyes to look too close together as I was having my nose done too, and he assured me it will not. The 'western' look is not what I wanted to achieve, i feel like i've lost my identity. I still want to look Chinese. It really saddens me that I don't recognise the face I see in the mirror  But i've made my bed so have to lie in it.

In photos, i look better but in person, i think i look strange

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying View is a bad clinic. Everyone in the clinic has been really nice..even the doctors. I guess I was just unlucky.

And oh by the way, I've put two and two together and figured out that forumer "BeautifulJA" is actually a consultant at the clinic. Her written english is exactly the same as her spoken english and JA is her initials. And look at her past posts, all glowing reports of View.

I'm happy to answer any questions as I really want to help and prevent anyone from making the same mistake as me. My email address is [email protected]

  17. I'm looking a tad less like the bride of chucky today. It is day 3 post op. I think my swelling and bruising has stopped and maybe even subsided a bit? thank God..because yesterday I can hardly open my eyes. My under eye area is still puffy and I still look like an overfed chipmunk with black eyes, mind you..but I feel better and brave enough, with a cap and mask, to venture to Garosugil for a bit of shopping, lunch and coffee. Just made sure I avoid eye contact with cashiers as i don't want to freak anyone out :P

In the morning, I went back to the clinic for a follow up, got those horrible packing out of my nose. I can breathe! And also taste my food! Hallelujah! The nurse cleaned the stitches on my eyelids and cleaned my nose. Doctor reassured me the swelling and bruising is normal and all is OK. Really hope I'll look normal-ish enough when i see my kids and husband in 10 days and to go back to work in 2 weeks.

They gave me a de-swelling treatment, hair wash and more pumpkin juice ..feeling a zillion times better. Amazing what a hair wash can do for your spirits! I've been offered another de-swelling treatment tomorrow. I can't see my nose becausthe splint is still on. It'll be taken off in 4 days so I can get to see what my nose look like then and report back.

  18. Just had mine done on friday at View, eyes, nose and fat graft (forehead, temples, under eye and mid face). It is day 3 post op. I know I will swell but I wasn't expecting to swell and bruise this much. I look sooo hideous now, so swollen and bruised I can hardly open my eyes:sad: Taking comfort in some of your reviews here that swelling is normal and trying my very darnest to stay positive. Dr Kim gave me slightly more fat as i wouldn't be able to come back for a top up so am wondering if that the reason for the overzealous swelling and bruising?. I don't know if I would de-swell enough in 2 weeks to go back to work

Anyone had similar post op experience of fat grafting the under eye area and ended up all swollen and bruised like someone swung a hockey stick in your face? I have a follow up at the clinic tomorrow..fingers crossed.

  19. Just had my done on friday at View as well, eyes, nose and fat graft.
