Hi @tinzy, thanks for your review. You look very pretty . I will consider DA if I ever need another touch-up. Were you asleep for the eyelid part of your surgery too? How did Dr. Jang know if everything was going to be symmetrical?

 

I can't give an opinion on rhino, but as a Canadian who experienced a botched DES in Canada, I would definitely recommend going to Korea for plastic surgery.

It depends on the skill of the surgeon, whether you have skin removed, and the stitching technique. I have heard that Asians are more prone to hypertrophic scarring.

 

They have some good reviews on RealSelf but I know a member on here had a revision DES at Girin and ended up getting another revision at Teuim.

 

It would probably be awkward to let non-friends or family see you with stitches still in. Generally you can go out in public after they are out or wait till 2 weeks post-op.

Jessica - I'm not sure about sedation, but I would be uncomfortable with ketamine. Lidocaine seems like the standard for local anesthesia.

 

I have heard really bad reviews about Bando, like they did Dr. switching and had really bad tempers....

 

Yes, it is used as an anesthetic, drug, horse tranquilizer, etc. Different clinics will use different drugs. You will have to ask each of them individually. For me, I would strongly prefer my DES to be done under local anesthetic only. When I had my primary surgery done in Canada I was given oral sedative pills too.

 

I'm thinking of going in September as well, and that is a good point. I guess before or after is fine, but I expect that a lot of places won't be doing surgeries September 14-16.

 

Wow, I am avoiding Teuim because I've heard a lot about their anesthetic. Ketamine is known for producing trances and is used in veterinary medicine

I third this . I will need epi+revision on my left eye and epi+??? on my right. I was the one that previously wrote about regretting not getting an epi with my primary surgery.

I'm sort of in the same boat as you. My first surgery did not go well and I think it failed because I didn't get an epicanthoplasty. Our eyes are actually quite similar and I can see that you will need one as well. When do you plan on going to Korea?

 

Hi there . I was considering REAL as well. What previous work did you have done with Dr. Kim? From his website it seems that his specialty is the suture method. Is that true?

 

Oh ok, I'd be interested in knowing how that turns out for you! Maybe your epicanthal folds weren't that big .

 

If you have significant epicanthal folds, make sure you get a second opinion. Better to do epi if you are getting larger creases .

That's strange -- who would have thought acne could be connected to eyelid surgery? Did you have epicanthoplasty as well?

 

I corresponded with them by email too and they recommended "incisional method" revision. Not sure if that means full or partial but I take it to mean full . I am definitely going to go around for more opinions. Did you have fat removal and a full incision in your first surgery? Are you planning on consulting with other clinics?

My DES was only 7 weeks ago so apparently I need to wait at least 6 months...but I'm thinking maybe if I just do epi and medial correction, I can get it done sooner? I just need the money, lol. And I actually am so confused about clinics in Korea. There are too many choices! I've heard of a good doctor in the States; I think I want to go see him first.
