  1. I had jawline botox done at Wells Clinic with Allergan's brand - it was 188,000, I believe for the whole bottle (50 units) and overall satisfied 'though I don't usually see huge results with this (I do it for the teeth grinding).
Need to get the "11's" taken care of as well though and just enquired at Gowoonsaesang and they're quoting 200,000 for just that area (which should be less than 10 units) and that's for Korean brand botox. Seems quite pricey. Were they having an event for 30,000?

  2. @KCouture - Kudos on finding that, it sounds like the perfect alternative. Especially since I've been researching about fat grafting on the Korean forums and have read up on quite a few horror stories as well as advice on how it can lump and sag. The consensus seems to be that fillers are just more reliable?

But I've never heard of this QQ filler - is this a Korean one only? Also, could you let us know the price and which doctor you went to? I'm in Seoul now and thinking of booking an appointment there in a little bit. I can tell them you sent me that way so you could get some referral cred

  3. Hey guys, I'm back in Korea and planning on getting a fat graft (and maybe a few other things) soon. Just read through half this thread and taking a break to post my goals and see who's around and maybe getting the same thing(s)...

    My main goals are:
    - Forehead: Currently it's small and bony with that annoying ridge so want to fill it in for overall smoothness and to shape my eyebrow line without getting that super babydoll look that's popular here
    - Nasolabial area: It's quite sunken at the moment
    - Jawline: Just want to refine a bit, had botox for masseter muscle before (I'm a teeth grinder) and it made no real difference since my face shape is already quite oval but I'd like to tighten up/lift the skin here, possibly considering Acculift

I've also wanted breast augmentation for a long time and if it's possible, I may try to combine fat graft to forehead with a graft to the breasts as well.

Am taking the next week to pound pavement and talk to a bunch of clinics. From what I've read so far, I'll be consulting with:
    - Regen (seems most popular here)
    - Faceline (like the variety of forehead augmentation options)
    - Item (their 'after' photos look more natural than others)

Alright, off to read the rest of this thread! Will keep this updated  Hit me up if you're around!

  4. Anyone planning to be in Korea in October/November? I'll be getting a fat graft and although I have family there, I'd really prefer to get my own place for the duration of the stay since I've seen pictures and I don't want to be parading around all black-and-blue in front of my fam (especially since they're against the whole idea and vocal about it).
My dates are fairly flexible and I'm thinking of doing an Airbnb so I can cook and make coffee and stuff. Anyone up to share if our dates align (and we get on)? I speak fluent Korean as well and haven't decided on a clinic yet so maybe we could even combine and get a better deal.

  5. Hey flintstones fan

Yea, it's day 3 (I think) and I'm really pleased with it. I've had no bruising, no pain since the surgery - the worst that's happened is some recent itchiness. I think it's a really non-invasive surgery - he just stitched the "line" into my eyelid.

I got it done at Banobagi with Dr. Choi but I also consulted at:

Opera (I liked them, the consultant was great - I only went with Banobagi 'cause I couldn't find anything online about the doctor at Opera...and this is a small thing, but he poked my lids a little too hard when we were discussing lines and a little part of me thought maybe that would translate over into the surgery room)

The Line (really busy, bit disorganized - head doctor saw me because I threatened to leave, he was nice and honest, actually recommended I don't do anything at all). This was probably the best price - a little over $800 for both eyes - but yea, I didn't feel that comfortable here. And there was a lot of waiting).

ASPS (only spoke to the consultant since all the doctors were busy and wouldn't be free for another 30 -45 min, even though I had an appointment - was not impressed by this. Consultant also tried to insist I should have both eyes done - which I made clear I didn't want - and also insisted on anesthesia, which I also didn't want).

Wanted to check out Teuim but my god, that surgeon is busy

Good luck and I'm sure it'll turn out beautifully! I'm really, really happy I pulled the trigger and finally got mine done

  6. So I had my double eyelid surgery this morning and I just want to give some overview on what I learned/experienced through this. Hope it helps someone!

What I did: I did double embedding non-incision double eyelid surgery (maemol). I have thin-ish eyelid skin (more medium thickness, really) and I already had a double eyelid but the line wasn't clear. My main reason for doing this was to secure it so I could "open" my eyes easily, without having to use my forehead muscles (that causes wrinkles, yo).

The procedure: I was super nervous and scared, I barely even slept last night, but it was seriously not that bad. I only did partial anesthesia, which I was terrified of because...well, needles! In my eyelid! But it was just a few painful pinpricks that lasted under a minute.

I didn't feel any pain during the actual procedure, which lasted maybe 15-20 minutes tops. The most uncomfortable thing about the whole experience was the super bright lighting aimed directly into my face (necessary, but doesn't feel fantastic) and the unsettling feeling of having my eyelid tugged and pulled on.

Doc was great, had perfect bedside manner, told me briefly what he was doing, when pain or discomfort would start/stop, and made small talk to de-tense me. Was really helpful overall.

After the surgery, they put a small piece of gauze over the eyelid and I left - felt no pain, just relief and elation at finally having had this done! Oh, there's a bit of...not discomfort, per se - more a feeling of something different. I'm more used to having my left eye open wider/more easily than my right one so it felt a lil weird to feel the right one as open. Not sure if that makes sense...

    What I learned/my 2 cents:

Don't do more than you need. I mentioned earlier that BK recommended I do ptosis. Another place also recommended I do epi. I really didn't need either. Sure, you might get a bit of a discount by doing it all at once, but IMHO, it might be better to do just what you really need and then see if you really need anything else - you might not.

Go with a doctor you feel comfortable with. I had Lasik done like a decade ago and it was the most frightening experience - not just 'cause you're wide awake and unable to blink throughout the entire procedure, but mostly because the doctor was a real jerk and he chose to snap at me every time I winced/involuntarily moved. Bedside manner really matters, especially when you're lying on an operation table alone and scared. Go with a doctor who's willing to listen to your concerns, answers your questions without rushing you and makes you feel comfortable.

Partial incisions seems to be out. I thought I'd need a partial incision and asked about this at 2 places and they both said they don't really recommend this anymore. Especially if you're young, don't have too much eyelid fat or saggy skin on your lids, they both said the preferred method is a more secure form of non-incision (like securing it twice or thrice). I also asked one of the consultants which surgery she got - her eyes didn't look natural - and she said partial incision and that she got it awhile back and wouldn't recommend it.

Do your due diligence. If you're here, you're probably doing that anyway, but yea...all these clinics are pretty close to each other (by foot, subway or cab) so always get a second (and third and fourth) opinion.

Don't be scared. Honestly, this surgery was way less painful and intensive than having my wisdom teeth removed. They gave me Tylenol as a painkiller. It's really not that bad.

Last note on prices - Banobagi was one of the more expensive places I went to. I know I could've gotten this done for a lot cheaper, especially since double eyelid surgeons are a dime a dozen in Seoul and I speak fluent Korean. But hey, you're only going to do it once (hopefully) so might as well as get it done where you want to/feel most comfortable.

I'll try to post pics later once I figure out how to do it so y'all can see how an eye looks after surgery (I know I was super curious about this)

  7. No, I didn't! I met Dr Park. He was nice, very young, but I felt more comfortable at Banobagi

Wish I knew, I kinda want to post one too - I remember I searched the internet for what eyes look like right afterwards and well, I didn't expect this (it's really not that bad!)

  8. Just an update on my double eyelid search: I went to Opera for a consultation on Tuesday and skipped Teuim and Bando Eyes since I already liked Banobagi and Opera and that was enough choices already.

Note: Teuim seems really busy and there is only one doctor there so if you run late to appointments, it's hard to reschedule.

About Opera: I liked the place. It's smaller than the other plastic surgery "mega malls" I visited (i.e. BK) and I really like that's it's super conveniently located. The consultant I saw before meeting the doctor was also friendly and just "got it" - like, she understood well what my main priorities were when it came to the surgery and unlike so many other consultants, she didn't try to upsell me on a bunch of different procedures.

By the way, this is a common theme I've noticed with these plastic surgery clinics - it's the consultants or managers that often recommend more than you need. Perhaps they get paid in commissions. At ASPS, for example, the consultant insisted I needed to get both my eyes done and that I should go for full anesthesia, even though I told her that scared me. Pretty much every doctor I've consulted told me getting just my one, problem eye done was fine and that partial anesthesia would suffice.

Overall, Opera was good - the consultant actually took the time to explain the surgery in detail: how many points they were going to make, the sort of line I could expect, the anesthesia procedure, etc., which was not the case at other clinics.

They also quoted the most affordable price - 400,000 KRW for one eye, non-incision.

That being said, I actually decided to go with Banobagi. I was trying all day today to decide between the two and ultimately, it was just a Google/Naver search that decided it - the doctor I met with at Banobagi has far more press than the one I met with at Opera. Maybe that shouldn't be a real factor, but I feel better going with someone who seems to have more experience.

This is something I was looking for since as "easy" as double eyelid surgery is supposed to be, a few of the doctors I met with just looked really young and I'd prefer someone who's been in the game for awhile, if you know what I mean.

My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow! So nervous and a little excited. Will report back on how it went. Wish me luck!

  9. I totally skipped Bando today - which is fine 'cause I might just go with banobagi anyway.

But correction on the price I got from The Line - it's $800-ish for both eyes, non-incisional. So far the best price and the head doctor seemed honest/not money-motivated (he actually recommended I don't do anything to my eyes at all) but I preferred the atmosphere at banobagi overall.

  10. Banobagi was efficient...and they had the best coffee in the waiting room out of all the ones I visited that day (weird, but small things, right?)

3 -4 mil? For what? I guess there really is "foreigner pricing" although I'm surprised it'd make that big of a difference...

Mine is really affordable, but it's also a small surgery (just non-incisicion, "aka 'maemol' on one eye) so the price seems right. I also speak fluent Korean so that can help.

  11. I consulted at BK awhile back and the doc told me I'd need to do partial or non-incision (don't remember) as well as ptosis levator muscle surgery - and I'd need to do both eyes even though my left one is perfectly fine as is.

So glad I didn't get it done there. Had consultations today at:
    Banobagi
    The Line
    ASPS

And they all told me I can do just one eye and do non-incisional. So yay!
From the experience today, I like Banobagi the best - they've got their sh*t together and the doc was friendly, helpful and didn't seem like he was in a mad rush. They also quotes the best price - around $500 for one eye.

ASPS was okay but their docs were all busy so they asked me to wait another 30-40 minutes to consult with a doc - I left. That's not cool, I had an appt.

The Line was similar - it took me about an hour or waiting time to speak to both the doc and the manager. And they said it'd be around $600 - $800 for just one eye.

Opera's easy to reach, just call their number (02-564-4300). Even if you don't speak Korean, they'll prob be able to make an appt for you.

Yea, I'm staying with family but staying in the gangnam/sinsa area would be great - all the clinics are so close to each other. Plus, there's good shopping there.

Tmrw, I'm going to see Opera, Bando and Teuim (Teuim's the only one that charges a consultation fee) and then decide by Wednesday where I'll do it...might get fat injection in my face as well and try to get a better price - has anyone done this?

Are you in Korea, btw? Why are you waiting 'til next week for the consults?

  12. I do know Korean, but I can't really figure out the internet here. That sounds weird, but you know, on English forums and stuff, I have enough understanding of how things work to be able to spot promotional posters and stuff but on Naver, I can't really tell whether any of the recommendations are for real or they're being paid to endorse a particular clinic.

As for promotions, I totally go for those when it's like a laser anti-aging thing but NOT for surgery. There are places that are having special events for double eyelid surgery but I'd rather pay extra to have surgery done by someone I trust and is damn good at it than someone who's giving out coupons and doing hundreds a day, you know?

I think the only benefit to speaking Korean - and having a haggling expert for a mom - is that I'll probably get quoted decent prices. But who knows? We'll see - I'll post up prices and such after my consults on Monday and Tuesday.

  13. Hey  When are you getting it done? What kind (semi, incisional, etc)?
I booked a few consultations next Monday and Tuesday at:
    The Line
    Teuim
Banobagi (Dr Joung doesn't work here anymore?)
    Opera
    ASPS

I also called Bando Eye but I found their receptionist really unfriendly - maybe she was just having a bad day but I'm really looking for a place I feel comfortable and "safe" even if it's just for eyelid surgery, which supposedly is like getting a cavity fixed here. So might not even bother going there.

I have to leave Korea by mid-May so planning on picking a place this week and getting it done ASAP so I have enough time to recover and stuff.

    Where are you staying?

  14. Hi tchu, I'm actually in Korea now and looking to get partial incision done in a week or so - you have a few of the clinics I was looking at...did you make your decision yet?

I'm also leaning toward ASPS but the ghost doctors thing is unsettling, I'm going to double and triple check with them about that, thanks for the info!

And let me know if you decided who to go with (and why). Oh, and heads up - I'm going to reach out on kakao

  15. Hi everyone, I've been lurking on and off on this forum for awhile and finally decided to sign up and get this done. I already have double eyelids but it's not clear on my right eye and it's been annoying me for years. To make it as "clear" as my left eye, I need to use fake lashes (which I do just on this eye) and it's a daily bother.

So I've told myself I'd get this taken care of for years...but chickened out every time.

Anyway, I'm back in Korea now and I really, really want to get it done this time. I actually consulted with BK last year while I was here, on a family friend's recommendation (hers came out beautifully, really natural) but Dr Kim looked mostly uninterested.

It was also super busy in the clinic, didn't feel comfortable enough and I felt like he didn't really answer my questions - he kept saying I had ptosis and I needed to have a levator muscle adjustment and I just don't feel like that's the case (my eye opens fine, it's just the skin is thicker).

I don't totally remember, but I think he quoted me around $2,000 USD (it was in KRW, but easier this way).

So I've been perusing all the threads on this forum as well as Naver (I'm fluent in Korea but more comfortable in English) and I've narrowed my choices down to:

The Line (I can't find much info here on this place but they come up on Naver as a good place - anyone have experience here?)

    Banobagi

Bando Eye (seems mostly for correction - are they also good for first-time surgery?)

    Teuim

    ASPS

Would really appreciate any and all advice on these clinics. I'm going to call them all up tomorrow and schedule consultations - I'll post more info and such as I go forward. Seriously looking forward to getting this done this time (finally!) but scared as h*ll as well

Thanks for all the info and hope someone has experience with the above clinics!
