  1. That’s very strange, I didn’t pay for any CT scan. I didn’t ask for them because I wasn’t sure what to expect at each one and if they did suggest a CT scan at the next one our plan was to deny it based on health reasons.
I think it’s just the difficulty of communicating online. It’s a complete 180 when you’re actually here. Though every clinic has a different feel to them, they essentially follow the same flow of events. My surgeon has been practing for 20+ years and didn’t use a CT scan for a very complicated rhinoplasty/functionality surgery. If you’re trying to avoid takkng multiple scans in a day I would just ask for a copy and say it’s for insurance purposes.

  2. I totally understand and share your sentiment with multiple CT scans in one day. I just came back from Korea and out of my 5 consultations only 2 took CT scans. When you are here you can express your concerns with the clinic during your consultation. Online communication is tough because a lot of clinics have outsourced jobs to keep up with the demand and time difference. The consultant you’re speaking with may not directly work at the clinic, but more as a translator for multiple clinics so you may not get the most accurate answer.

    Good luck!

  3. I agree with kkpoebee. Koreans and Americans still have the same concerns when it comes to their noses: deviation, bulbous/blunt tip, hump removal, etc. The surgeons perform much more frequently than surgeons in the states, in my personal opinion I believe you’re giving yourself the best chance by getting rhinoplasty done in Korea.

I’m from America and had rhinoplasty and fat graphing done on January 20th (16 days post op) and I’m already extremely happy with how my nose looks. I had a caudal septal deviation (notoriously difficult issue to fix) and I couldn’t find a doctor I was comfortable with in the states so I traveled to South Korea.

  4. I just came back from Korea, I arrived January 16th, consulted on the 17th and 18th and had surgery on the 20th. I consulted with 5 clinics and all chief surgeons had availability 0-2 days (one clinic wanted to do surgery later that day). I wouldn’t get caught up in the low vs peak season, they will get you in!

  5. Thanks for sharing your story! I hope you have a speedy recovery!

It is funny how preferences change once you go in person. I’m consulting with 7 clinics when I travel in January and all three of those clinics are on my list.

Brian and Henry from April 31 are awesome and super responsive, they are definitely the best in communication by far!

View is very nice as well.

You’re spot on about GNG, you do have to bug them to get a response. They’re more responsive through email vs Kakao.

If you don’t mind sharing, I would love if you could PM me for the prices quoted for rhinoplasty. It would be awesome to get an idea of skill level/operating years vs individual nose case for what they ideally charge (price is not everything, having one successful surgery is the main goal but just to get an idea to avoid being overcharged).

  6. Just think of it as simple math, more money in vs. out.

You know your situation and factors better than anyone else.

For example, I don’t have many expenses. My job allows me to pick up overtime. This allowed me to save up quick.

If your job doesn’t allow you the opportunity to pick up more hours, look into a side hustle. Waitressing, bartending, dog walking, tutoring, etc.

If that’s not an option look at your total expenses, see what’s necessary and what you can forego and set aside money each paycheck towards your goal of surgery.

    Good luck!

  7. I’m happy to see your updates and that you’re doing well! Such a beautiful result!

Did you ever get a chance to reach out to Delta about the passenger sitting next to you? It still makes me upset!

I am booked for South Korea in January and I have my consultation with View (and 5 others). Thanks again for your glowing review and advice!

  8. Hey Tristan loved reading your thread, you definitely put a lot of time into the research and staying patient! I’m happy to hear you had a great experience!

Did you travel far to go to Seoul for rhinoplasty? I am traveling from Boston for the high skill in South Korea. I’m not a fan of doctors here for rhinoplasty.

I have been researching on and off for two years and I’m finally booked to go in January, I’m also consulting with 6 clinics before I do surgery. Wonjin, April 31, GNG, Topclass, View and hopefully Braun Clinic. My host is also going to take me to local clinics that don’t have an online service set up for English folks.

When you visited your respective clinics, were there a mix of tourists and locals? Or mainly one or the other?

I was recommended Wonjin and Braun by locals. A lot of locals also say there’s just too many clinics to compare, they hear and see great things about rhinoplasty in general in the city.

  9. Woah woah...that is not ok! Absolutely they would have moved you! Even if the flight was full, we play human Tetris to keep you away from further harassment and it’s also a security threat on the plane. They would have put him next to larger men and keep an eye on him. We also contact forces on the ground to deal with his actions as we have jurisdiction in the air. Please immediately reach out to Delta and tell them what you told me (flight number, your seat number, etc.) and they should be able to help you out. That’s not ok! I’m sorry you had to deal with that piece of crap.

  10. That is insane considering it’s a concentrated area!

That’s a great suggestion, because if they aren’t what other substandards are they practicing?

It’s funny you say that, I searched them on Facebook and found their email and they got back to immediately. I booked a consultation there as they were fantastic during the online consultation! I love that have surgeons that specialize in different areas and it’s a much smaller clinic in a very conservative building. I also booked with View as well as they are great as well!

Thanks again for your helpful suggestions!

  11. It definitely is the norm for many traveling for surgery! I was considering flying first in November to scope out local places I wouldn’t be able to discovery in my surgery timeframe for January but November/December is busy for airlines. I’ve been in contact with locals on AirBnB to see if they can recommend local clinics. The answer I get mostly is there’s way too many clinics anywhere you go unfortunately.

Thank you for the tips! Are you having surgery done soon?

I liked MVP, April 31 has been difficult to get in touch with. The number listed for Kakao and WhatsApp are invalid when I try to reach out and their online chat on the website does not generate a response.

  12. Glad to hear of another American traveling to Korea for surgery!

Did you take Delta/Korean Air from Atlanta to Seoul?

That definitely makes sense to do rhino to help with overall facial symmetry. I’m happy for you that your surgeries went well and you connected with great surgeons! It’s definitley rolling the dice and taking the risk regardless of where you go.

I look forward to hearing about your recovery and final results!

  13. Hey thank you for sharing your experience, you look great! Where did you travel from to get surgery? Did you have consultations the same timeframe you had surgery? (Only visited Seoul once for instance)

I'll be traveling from Boston but I'm a flight attendant so I can travel there easily and cheaply so I'm wondering

It's definitely daunting to find the right surgeon. I'm also trying to find a rhinoplasty specialist at where the locals go and avoiding huge touristy clinics.

I've had online consultations with MVP, Dream, and Wonjin. Dream said I didn't need rhinoplasty as it wouldn't make a difference and I felt they were a bit rude. I really like the other two clinics but I'm glad you opened my eyes to View!

  14. If you haven't read K Corture's guide about plastic surgery in South Korea, I would highly suggest it. Find a specialist vs a jack of all trades with no speciality. Use your best judgement for clinics with a great marketing team vs actual accredited surgeons. Do your research on the surgeons within your radar (awards, were they voted by their peers to head medical boards, etc.). I've found better information on these boards and couch surfing forums (ask the locals) vs searching on google and I've been researching this for awhile. I find recommendations to be pretty consistent (Dream and MVP for rhinoplasty for example) and I've also been told to avoid some of the big clinics that focus on their marketing (if you do your research you'll know which ones come up).
