  1. Based on friends reviews and online, I have heard coolsculpting isn’t the best for double chin unless you have quite a bit of fat. Just a more difficult area to grab and freeze with the machine.

A popular nonsurgical alternative is deoxycholic acid injections (Belkyra/Kybella). They use local anesthetic on the area then inject and swelling gradually subsides until the broken down fat is absorbed. I’ve had it and it works but it takes a lot of patience haha. I may just end up doing lipo/acculift....still weighing the pros and cons.

  2. Has anyone inquired about spinal anesthesia/spinal block en lieu of GA for calf resection with Dr Park?

I have had quite a few ruptured IVs and am used to being awake during surgeries so a spinal block would be significantly more attractive than GA or IV sedation. Also considering the distal location of calves I would imagine a spinal block sans sedation wouldn’t feel too traumatic as the puncture would be low on the spine.

  3. Hi Yuli,

Wow I think you are the only person I’ve seen on this thread (from the parts I’ve read) who is interested in going a second time to dr Park. Please keep us updated on your journey  and hope you are able to achieve the results you want

  4. I have considered Korean branded fillers before, since I have mainly used non-FDA approved in the past (but safe as they are used widely in other highly developed countries ex Canada, UK...) but ended up going with Restylane in Korea because I bargained for it to be included in my sx total cost. FDA approved is often “the safe bet”, but many brands choose not to apply for FDA approval because of many reasons unrelated to the quality and safety of their product.

I think the thing to do, is find the names of the brands, find as much info as you can online, and see what the comparable formulas are in other more widely known brands.
I’m assuming you want a temporary HA filler (wise decision vs less temporary like collagen)...some Korean brands are expected to last less than 6 months (btw this doesn’t mean the filler is cheaply made or bad) so maybe these are good to try out initially. And what I have done before when trying out new fillers, is first testing a small area with little ccs. If I don’t like the result, the clinic dissolves with hyaluronidase. I think asking the clinic if the filler can be safely dissolved is important as well...

  5. The idea behind this is that the muscle bulking from the masséter promotes bone growth and repair, especially in children with developing bones. Some children will develop a larger/thicker jaw because of how they chew/grind or their diet. This is also why primates with similar jaw bone and teeth structure are far less likely to develop malocclusion and teeth crowding, they follow a diet more in line with how their bite evolved and thus their jaw is strong/wide enough from continuous crunching and muscle growth that it fits with their adult sized teeth.

If using Botox to atrophy the muscle also leads to significant bone loss...I am not sure if we know. The masséter is a large strong muscle but it is not like, say the calf muscle where heavy weight is continuously applied. Maybe some Botox will not make a big difference or maybe it will atrophy your muscle to a similar size of other humans that have no problems, it’s hard to know as we all chew/bite differently and have a range of bone densities.

  6. I would consult with surgeon but imo I woulf avoid anything that could possibly lead to asymmetry in healing...my surgeon recommended me not to wear glasses for at least 3-6 months but I did a year just to be safe and I think it was worth it because my nose healed without any bumps, compared to some of my friends who developed a bump or flatter shape

  7. I walked around a lot 2 days after fc, mainly shopping (the one activity I rarely tire from) in myeongdong, dongdaemun, various areas of gangnam. Some days I walked over 12h and took advantage of the 24h shopping seoul has.

The odd person, usually another foreigner or old lady would look at me twice but generally locals there follow the “it is rude to stare and ask questions” rule. They would only ask politely if I mentioned it first. A couple people who I talked to knew immediately what I had done because it was that familiar to them (hotel staff, restaurant servers). And knew what foods and help I might need without me requesting, since I couldn’t really talk coherently (pumpkin porridge, ice etc lol). I went to Tokyo after and people seem to be less familiarized but are just as polite. Going back to the US afterwards and experiencing the stark contrast made me a little ashamed of how rude/nosy people can be lol.

Keep in mind you can’t put weight like sunglasses or glasses on your nose for a while after rhinoplasty, but you can tape them on your forehead (lol). So it may not be a concealment option unless you just have DES/fc.

Also my fc compression bands covered my ears making it hard to wear a face mask, I wore a wrap scarf instead.

  8. I have had rhino and v-line separately....imo I wouldn’t do them together if I was to do it again. Not to say everyone will have a bad experience, I hear some people were fine but if you are unlucky like me and end up having too much swelling the first part of recovery could be a bit traumatizing.

Rhino was a pretty quick procedure and healed relatively quick as well (7 days I was back to work after open rhino). Also can be done under just local or local + sedation.

When I had v line, I was given the option to leave after recovering from GA. Decided to stay as I was alone. My face swelled up to the point of having to remove the compression dressings and sinuses started acting up enough that I needed a breathing tube through my nose and phlem suctioned every hour or so or I legit couldn’t breathe (which has happened to quite a few ppl on here to varying degrees). Stayed in hospital an extra day. Whole time I was thinking: clinics are nuts to offer rhino + v line together...couldn’t imagine having a breathing tube put in my new nose with even more swelling and blood.

  9. Thanks for the update @earla , love hearing about how other people are recovering from v line. I had mine at TFD in January and seeing the swelling decrease on people’s pics makes me look forward to seeing my final results.

Had fat dissolving injections for my double chin (Kybella) a week ago hoping to improve that aspect. But a double chin is worth the asymmetry and long chin/square jaw correction of v line.

  10. I decided to start a thread on my PS journey since I have written a few mini reviews and would like to keep everything in one place, both for myself and to contribute to the forum. Most of my procedures are planned in Seoul, but I have also done a lot (of surgical and non-surgical) in N. America.

Sx in N America thus far:

    • rhinoplasty (open, bridge reduction, tip refinement & reduction. 6 month interior dissolvable sutures, 1 week dissolvable exterior sutures on columella)
    • lipo (lower back...obvious sacral scars with 1 week dissolvable sutures superficially and 6 mo dissolvable in deep layers of fascia)
    • lip lift (bullhorn, deep anchor to septum with 6 mo dissolvable sutures, superficially closed by surgical glue)

Also (a LOT of) non-surgical and med spa treatments. Which I will not include in this thread unless asked as it is focused on PS in Asia

    Sx in SK:

    • v-line (bone and soft tissue fc with square jaw bone reduction, asymmetry correction, chin reduction T-osteotomy using titanium plate, masseter muscle reduction using electrocoagulation and 80 units botox).

The v-line was au lieu of 2-jaw...although I needed the 2 jaw to fix my asymmetry and malocclusion, I was not willing to stay in hospital and take time off work for that long (1 month vs 10 days). Since then, I went through 20 trays of invisible aligners to space out my teeth crowding as much as possible. I doubt I could ever achieve proper occlusion with braces, retainers, etc (tried all of those), but at this point I would estimate 60-70% of my teeth touch together and they appear straight which is a big improvement. My cosmetic improvement ideal was to achieve a shorter mid face and more symmetrical, smaller lower face.

Next sx plans in Korea include:

    • fg to upper eyelids/under brows, and below lower lids
    • Breast fg and body lipo
    • Cheek fat removal...unsure which method yet
    • Veneers (18-20), and gum contour to attempt at fixing asymmetrical upper gum line, cross bite on one side, chipped/uneven teeth from years of malocclusion, and overall tooth colour as I have thin enamel and dentin shows through, making bleaching to the colour I want not possible.

    Future sx plans include:

    • Second round of breast fg, or small volume Motiva Ergonomix mini implants (Korea)
    • Calf reduction by resection (Korea or TW)
    • Possible brow bone reduction (US or TW)
    • Scar revision (Canada or Korea)

  11. Wow, that is a pretty big difference. Almost like her brow bone structure changed

  12. Ptosis correction is done frequently on caucasian eyes as well as upper bleph. It still has a high chance of revision but eye sx of any patient has that probability.

I think if you want to do it in Korea, it may be wise to go to a lot of in-person consults at many clinics to see what the surgeons there say. Another thing that may give you that look is a brow lift, if you are like me and your brows are low and influence the eye drooping. Though this is a longer recovery and larger scalp scar.
