Hi all,

Update:

I wanted to share some things with you, I just finished my non incisional DES at dream.

Consultations:

I had consultations planned with Dream, MVP, Regen and Teuimps for more than a month. I booked consultations and a slot for surgery the day after if possible, 3 out of 4 were.

One day before the consultation MVP and Regen wanted to reschedule, which was a negative experience for me.

First consultation was very good with Dream, the facility looked good, not small but not huge either. Looked clean and the consultant I was speaking to for months was really nice and informative. They advised non incisional and ptosis correction. I mentioned that I dont want it unless it is really necessary.

After meeting the doctor, he asked me what I want and expect. He showed me the low to medium creases and the result of ptosis correction and without ptosis correction. I told them I want a natural look, low to medium crease. If possible and wont affect loosening of the folds a slight parralel crease.

I honestly felt that I like the way it looks without ptosis better so that is what we went for.

My feeling was such a positive one, that I cancelled the others especially with two wanting to reschedule and Teuimps was the last on my list, which I also cancelled.

After that they told me the price and I told them I know I am getting a foreigner price and Ive received quotations from 3 others and they were the most expensive. I told them that I dont mind paying more than a local but give me a fair price.

I got a substantial discount.

Surgery time:

If you can please bring someone to care for you or just make you feel better, do it, I did it by myself. The sedation hurts and its just a bit scary but manageable.

I am recovering now, looks really good and happy with everything but its just day one.

I hope everyone that is going will have a successful surgery and will be happy with the results.

Can you read Korean? This plastic surgery place does little to no ads it seems like... so the only things you can find are just reviews from people who actually got surgery or from people who are going in for consultations. You can go to naver and search for the clinic in Korean if you can read Korean. I’ve been at the clinic three times now (consultation, surgery, after-care/check-up) and I have only seen Korean patients, so I think they don’t promote to foreigners.

By the way, I had a question in a PM but I will also answer it here. The doc checks progress one week after surgery, one month after surgery, 3 months after surgery, and 6 months after surgery. So basically he wants to check his work often to make sure the eyes heal fine, but if you are a foreigner I’m sure just the one week check up is fine.

Also, Shinseung I think is really skilled as well since my friend and her sister had great results. I just didn’t go with them, but choosing the right doc is a very personal thing.

1. Shinseung
This place was a recommendation by a friend who got her non-incisional DES done here. She found this clinic through her sister who got revisional DES and was satisfied. My friend only got hers done like five months ago, but it already looks really nice and natural. There is only one doctor.
When I entered this clinic, I was a little shocked since the receptionist had like a facial injury or something so one of her eyes was like an inch lower than her other eye. Usually I don't judge, but since this is a plastic surgery clinic where I was going for my eyes, I couldn't help but judge. This already put me off a little. There was one other girl in the waiting area and she had a Hermes bag (so I was thinking she probably wouldn't go to any random clinic). Her face also looked like she got a lot of plastic surgery, if you know what I mean (in Korea, we call it 성괴).
I was seen by the doctor within 10 minutes of arriving, which was great. The only time I saw the 실장 was after the doctor consultation to discuss prices. The doctor recommended I only get non-incisional DES. He said epi was my choice, but that there were benefits and disadvantages to it. He is famous for revisional epi on Korean celebs as well, so I thought he knew what he was talking about. The only thing I was put off my was that he seemed tired? IDK.. he was just not that detailed about my face during the consultation. He just looked at it from across the table and just showed me the line he wanted to draw, but he seemed a little distracted. Here, you get general anesthesia for 5 min to get local anesthesia. Then you are woken up to continue the surgery. The surgery is supposed to take 30 min.
I got a good price due to my friend's recommendation.

2. MVP
I went to this place only because of PurseForum. I was curious about how different the clinic would be if it was recommended by non-Koreans. First thing is that they use the entire building; it is a huge clinic with multiple doctors. The 실장 kept saying "we are not a factory like those OTHER clinics. Dr. Seo only does 4 surgeries a day." which all seemed kind of fishy, but who knows. I saw the 실장 first who discussed the surgery, then the doctor, then saw the 실장 again for prices.
I was recommended only non-incisional DES. I was told it would be general (for 5 min) + local anesthesia, and the non-incisional DES would only take 10(!) minutes. How can it be so quick? Apparently, it's because he is just that great of a doctor. Incisional DES would take 30 min. I know the secretary told me this to assure me that he was skilled, but it actually put me off of the clinic. Even the best surgeon, in my opinion, should be taking some time to check and re-check the lines before making changes to someone's face instead of doing it quickly. Also, the 10 min made me real skeptical that he was only doing 4 surgeries a day. I didn't care if he did more, but it just seemed suspicious to me and put me on guard.
Another annoying fact was that they kept us waiting for almost an hour to see the doc. We asked them what was taking so long and the secretary said "well patients normally wait 30-60 min to see the doctor." She said it like it was a given, so we just said we were going to leave. She then said the doctor was ready to see us in 5 min, so we just stayed. The doctor was nice enough tho. He seemed to really care about the best kind of eye shape for me.
We had to pay 10,000 won consultation fee, and we got an okay price for the non-incisional DES. This was the cheapest out of all the places we saw.

3. Ive
This place was recommended by a family member who is also a plastic surgeon. There is only one doctor here who is well known on Korean cafes for being very detailed. I saw the doctor first then saw the 실장 to discuss prices.
When I met the doctor, he spent about 3 minutes not speaking, just examining my face. He even brought out a ruler to measure! Finally, he asked what kind of eyes I wanted and he eventually recommended non-incisional DES. He also said epi would add an additional spark, but it was my choice if I wanted it or not.
Non-incisional DES (30 min) is only local anesthesia.
Non-incision DES with epi (60 min) is general for 5 min + local anesthesia then awake the rest of the time.
I really agreed with the Korean cafes that said he was 꼼꼼해. This doctor is also famous in Korea for eyes, and even Korean cafes said that he was double the price of other clinics, but worth it. They also said that he does not recommend unnecessary surgeries. However, for me, he was the only one that kind of recommended epi. He said it was my choice, but the fact that he recommended it in the first place made me all confused since the previous two places didn't mention it at all.
I eventually just canceled the rest of my appointments and just decided to go with this clinic. I had to pay 10,000 won consultation fee originally, but since I just made the appointment right then, I didn't have to pay it. This place ended up being only slightly more expensive than Shinseung, but that's because I got a fantastic deal through my uncle's referral.

I would have had difficulty choosing between Shinseung and MVP... I felt that both doctors were skilled, but missing that little spark/push I needed. When I consulted with Ive, I felt assured that he would spend his time with each cut and really give me the best shape.
I will say Shinseung and Ive seemed like they only had Korean patients. MVP seemed like they only had Chinese and foreigner patients since I didn't hear Korean from a single patient. Who knows, though.
The prices were MVP < Shinseung < Ive
I don't want to give the exact prices, but all prices I was quoted at all clinics were between $600 and $1500 (depending on with or without epi).

My biggest tip is to state a name for referral if you have one and if you know that person got a good deal. Don't name a referral if they paid more than you thought they should. The clinics will just try to match your price with the referral's price.
Another tip is to haggle them down and then at the end ask them how much further they would be willing to go down if you paid in cash. Only mention the cash price at the very end so that the price goes down further.

I ended up getting the surgery at Ive, so if anyone wants to know about the surgery itself and aftercare, I can do it.

I am looking for a very subtle and small crease/double eyelid. If I receive the advice to do DES/EPI/PTOSIS, I will definitely not do any procedure and just continue to enjoy my stay in Seoul

I have not heard of marble. Banobagi will be expensive and they have a lot of doctors so I would personally avoid as I am terrified of doctor swapping. The line is tlps. I have not heard of Marble. At MVP Dr Seo does natural eyes not doll eyes. Prices will be low from March through May , low season.

Did you get the recommendations from the doctor or just a message from the Consultants? Cause they usually just post prices for DES, EPI and Ptosis. However, this does not imply that they advice all three.

Really? It only lasts up to 2 years? I have seen examples where people got 10+ years. Some might say it could even be semi permanent but due to aging it is not the sutures that break but the skin that lowers or sags from aging etc.

Ok, so I have appointments for MVP, Dream and Teuimps. Regen said it is not possible to secure a spot without a deposit. After thanking them and saying goodbye, they(the consultant) came back and said that there would be a big chance that there is free spot available after the consultation and invited me to come in for a talk.

Those 4 will be my shortlist and I will decide after going on a consult with all of them.

On a side note, when I frown and look angry the creases pop into a double eyelid temporarily, I just want them to stay haha.

But I like the look my right eye, left on the picture so I am aiming for something like that.

If your mongolian fold is a bit more prominent then it means it's not going to look as cohesive as it could, and subsequently (if you're doing non incisional) it could unravel earlier due to tension against the fold. After epi, I still look like I have a bit of a fold (some clinics will recommend epi to me not knowing I already got it done lol.) This was an aesthetic decision I went over with the doctor, as I didn't want a very dramatic epicanthoplasty, so it's really up to you! Make sure to take the time to find someone skilled in epi because if not done correctly, it can throw off proportional balance and make you more prone to scarring ^.^ It will make your eyes appear closer together and thus, brighter–if opening up your inner corners would have been detrimental to your overall look then it would be very obvious ^^ Normally the difference is negligible if the epi is done well/in a subtle manner. If multiple surgeons recommend it then it's probably something to think about. best of luck to you!

By the way, this doesn't mean epi is always necessary. Not even Dr. Kwon (lmao) will recommend it 100% of the time ^^ Face to face consults will be best and if you can, try to bargain a tiny bit with the price lol.

Every doctor will have a different style. While it is actually true that doing des without epi will usually lead to tension in the crease later on, this doesn't mean everyone does it. Dr. Kwon for example, will push epi but his epi results can be very natural so even those who don't have a very deep mongolian fold may opt to do it. Other surgeons may not care as much! Make sure to consult with multiple clinics and if it's not on kakao, do clarify who it is that's speaking to you( this may not ALWAYS be necessary. Sometimes based on the specific info they provide it's pretty clear they're from the clinic lol.) They're usually very open about being from allaboutmei or something, you just want to ask because they're not directly affiliated with the clinic. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but it's just..a thing haha.
You would "benefit" from ptosis and epi in that you'd have brighter, clearer eyes which Korean clinics tend to favor. however, based on visual observation alone you can get by without it. I think your current eyes are very charismatic but I'd recommend consulting with several clinics and surgeons (especially irl because determining the presence of ptosis is not always accurate on camera) and collecting their responses. Thank you! Does that mean that doing just DES without EPI could cause the fold to loosen earlier?

EPI is not completely off the table but only if it is necessary or aids in minimizing the chance of fold failure.

I want a subtle natural crease preferably more medium than low but not too high, no big doll eyes.

The first prices that I received are 1.8 million KRW for DES and 1.3 for Epi (dream) and 1.3 million KRW for DES and 650.000 epi (mvp) and lastly 1.5 million DES and 1.4 million Epi (Teuimps)

Dr. Park from Dream and Dr. Seo from MVP. I am looking for an additional consult, Teuimps for example but they emphasize and glorify combining EPI with DES so much, I think they will definitely say yes do both.

This is my opinion: I honestly don't think you need double eye lid surgery at all. I think men look much better with monolids than hooded eyelids. However this is your face and if double eye lid surgery is what you want, then you should go for it. As for the procedures, I think you would be fine with just doing DES. Epi wouldn't be all that bad either since you do have mongolian fold, but it's not all that bad. Epi will just open up the inner part of your eyes and make it look a little wider and give you a "fresher" look. As for ptosis I say you DON'T get it. You do not need ptosis whatsoever in my opinion. Ptosis is only for if you have "sleepy" looking eyes which I don't think is the case. To sum it all up, Yes DES, Epi only if you want, No Ptosis. Either ways don't make a decision until you consult with the doctors himself or herself. Consultants are no good.

Yes, I only had a talk via Whatsapp with the Dream consultant. I have scheduled consultations with MVP, Dream and Regen in March.

I received the e-mail confirmation from dream but it is a g-mail address. I would have thought that they would send it via their own website e-mail. Maybe this is for the foreigners?

Hi all,

I have been researching and following for a while now regarding non incisional double eyelid surgery. I am a 30 year old male from Europe and I have been thinking about doing it for so long that I finally decided to go next month.

After reading all the comments and threads, I feel most comfortable at the moment with Dream and MVP. However, at first I just wanted to go for the non incisional DES but suddenly the consultant from Dream is trying to push DES, EPI and Ptosis correction and I might not be happy with the results if I only go for the DES, according to her.

What do you think? I have posted some pictures from their website, where patients only had the DES non incisional without the other two. Do you think I NEED it?
