  1. Hi Hora. I am looking into it now with a friend from Korea helping me. I think I will be hopefully be able to bring some sort of civil case against them after contacting the embassy. They are putting me in touch with the right people.

  2. No bone was required because the gap wasn't big enough. I think you should be ok. Do you have a scan so I can see by any chance? I feel like its broadened again yes, its at least better than what it was.

In terms of going back to Korea I deliberated on it for a while, and there was only 2 clinics I somewhat trusted because I had visited them prior to my first surgery. I had to relearn to trust and I won't deny I was a difficult and scared patient.

  3. For transparency, the contract they sent me is below in full. I have only excluded amounts.

Note also underlined that this contract is purely just to absolve them of all blame and protect themselves, there's nothing altruistic or kind about the gesture, which would have motivated me more if I'm honest to stop the reviews and think they had changed

They are exactly the same as they have always been. The same self preservationists. They only care about me simply because I am costing them money and damaging their ability to market internationally, that's all.

So after a couple of weeks, GNG basically prepared a contract and sent me an offer, which I flat out refused (see above) a couple of reasons.

Like I said above, I'm a principled person, but being blunt and honest with you,..if an offer was huge enough I would have considered it, but not at the expense of my pride.

The reasons I felt the offer was an insult?

    (1) The compensation was not enough in my mind to justify taking it down and then it not being valuable to others

    (2) The compensation didnt factor in the emotional cost, the revision costs, the physical costs, the whole package.

    (3) The contract isnt an apology. The contract if you read it below essentially puts the blame all on me, and aims to absolve the hospital of everything. How can this be a kind gesture as they said?

    3ee3e3.jpg

    (4) The contract has horrible stipulations inside it, if breached saying I will be arrested and brough to Korea etc and pay 10x the amount I received. How can this be considered a kind gesture as they said?

    (5) The contract requires me to travel all the way to Korea, take valuable time off work and face them and relive horrible memories of that place I really didnt want to.

  5. I want to preface these messages I attach with something for the sake of transparency and 100% honesty.

This was a conversation I also had with my parents and it was very difficult because I am a pretty principled person If I'm wronged in life.

I always said: if I was compensated enough over the money that originally I paid, I would stop posting negative reviews online. I hope everyone can understand this side of things from me, as sometimes I feel guilty because I really want to help others,...but at the same time, I desperately needed the money should a refund materialize ( it didn't btw because this is a dishonest hospital as you will see in these messages )

  6. Hi iiiby.

The doctor used no bone graft and the traditional incision points for zygoma ( sideburn and through the mouth ) removed old fixations and used new ones I'm presuming. So it's just the same surgery but reversed if that helps.

I think the jaw implants were more difficult as I can understand how tricky it must be for a surgeon to place and then fixate at the same time. Luckily i designed the implants so they were a perfect fit in terms of on the bone.

I hope you manage to sort your situation out. If you ever need any advice feel free to ask. I just want to make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else and they make sensible choices. I can't tell you how angry I still am at GNG and the surgeons who put me through all this, when just listening to me would have solved all these issues.

  7. Part 1 Here - https://beautyhacker.com/forums/topic/1019591-gng-hospital-stay-away-at-all-costs-an-update-part1/

So following all of part 1 and post-surgery, I recently found out in September via a private source that GNG Hospital decided to leak all of my private information to people online, with the attempt to get my reviews taken down.

    leaked.jpg

The documents above that were emailed by GNG Hospital contain all my private information such as emails, my full name signatures, addresses, basically everything I can be identified with.

    Screenshot-2019-11-01-at-17.43.31.jpg

I won't reveal which admin who sent me this me above just for privacy issues, but they were gracious and kind enough to notify me of what happened. (Thank you Purseblog/forum and the person for being so open with me about this, and protecting patients first and foremost)

Quite frankly I am shocked and stunned by such a blatant disregard for privacy and confidentiality from this clinic. I'm also extremely upset and feel violated and continually tortured by GNG Hospital not only physically, but just as much mentally.

Not only is this illegal under European law with regards to patient confidentiality rules, but it's also illegal as far as I know in South Korea. I would appreciate more advice on this for anyone more familiar with this happening to them, as I don't think clinics should be able to get away with leaking people's extremely private information to whoever they feel like.

Just when I think they can't stoop any lower given what I have gone through. They lower the bar even more.

And after that, it decided to get even worse because I was angry and decided to email them asking what the hell they are trying to do.

I'll go into that in detail when I can pull the messages from my phone later on. I'm am so upset still about this

  8. I hope this is ok, but I am posting this in a new thread so it doesn't get buried here, but I have also updated my old thread with the same post as below.

Right, so where do I start…huff

Before I go into anything, I just want to thank everyone on here who gave me support and motivation when going through this with GNG Hospital a few months back.

I still am going through the side effects of it all, but It really did help to have people on my side when the hospital was trying to convince me that everything was in my mind. It seems to be a common trick that’s employed these days.

I have done my best below to section everything just to make it easy to understand. It just helps me also in making it chronological and making sure I don’t miss out on any key information.

This is part one of two. Here I want to just focus on the road to fixing the damage GNG caused, my revision surgery and planning, and the results and recovery.

In part two I’ll discuss my recent issues with GNG leaking my private patient information online, seeking legal action, and the subsequence nightmare correspondence with them on WhatsApp over the few months. I will be 100% honest and won’t sugarcoat anything or be selective with what I show to benefit me. Because believe me I have been in so much anger over this.

    Recap

So let me quickly recap for anyone who is new to this thread:

The last time I was here,...I was a few months post-op from my surgery at GNG Hospital, and the hospital/surgeon had removed both of my jaw angles with me instructing the opposite, and I was left with nerve damage on the right side and soft tissue problems and clicking from the zygoma reduction. It was an awful recovery process because 2 weeks after surgery I knew something wasn’t right, especially in my jaw area.

I was depressed for months, but during that time I really tried my best to save as much money as I could, and get a small loan so I could try and fix the damage to the best of my ability. I tried to do a lot of planning and mentally tried to prepare myself for going through the whole recovery process and fear of waking up after major surgery again. I’m sure anyone who has had surgery knows what it's like being racked with nerves.

    Planning Revision Surgery

I knew for a fact going into any revision, that the only solution for me to correct what GNG Hospital did was going to be:

    (1) custom implants for the jaw area

    (2) a reversal of the zygoma reduction procedure to try and restore my natural arch.

There were really no other options and I was very fortunate to have a friend at the time who works in the medical field producing 3d printed medical materials. I can’t thank him enough for working with me to help design the implants and just being there to support me in general.

Here is a draft image in 3d software showing one of the implants and where it would be placed. I worked with my friend on and off over 2 months to finalize the implant.

Here are a few images showing the process:

Finding a Surgeon To Fix The Damage

I worked on the implants a couple of months prior to finding a surgeon who could help. Given my experience with GNG, I also knew I needed to be more pro-active and take responsibility myself for the things I could control, and the design of the implants was something I could contribute with and have that sense of ownership I guess.

I researched a lot of surgeons during this time, mainly surgeons who had experience in custom implants and restorative/reconstructive surgery. I would say mainly the U.S and Korea ( You can DM me for my considerations so I can avoid listing here )

I eventually decided to go back to Korea, and trust me, …given what had happened and the bad memories this was not an easy decision to make at all. I would be happy to disclose my surgeon's choice in messages but for now, given I’m still recovering, I think I would rather hold off just to make sure everything goes ok. I am still having some minor issues.

    Revision Surgery

I had revision surgery on 22 February this year in Seoul. So I am 8month post-op.

The surgery involved the (1) placement of the 2 angle implants. Note that this is a very complex procedure and requires a lot more dissection of tissues to fit the implant. I also had (2) a revision to the chin area to compliment the shape of the implant. GNG just shaved my chin and left it, and my jaw bulky and wide.

And finally (3) I had surgery at the same time to correct the zygoma reduction. This involved re-expanding the arch and new screws/brackets in place in the same area to help restore the lost width to my face. Please note: Zygoma surgery was something that GNG had pushed heavily on me during the consultation process. I had considered it prior but changed my mind once I was in Seoul so this was another thing I was angry at them for, blindly and carelessly pushing surgeries on me I didn’t need.

Here are some X-Rays and scans showing before revision surgery and after from a few different angles. It also shows the revision of the previous zygoma surgery and t-osteotomy.

Front view before and after (note restored width to face and cheeks and narrower chin)

Bottom view before and after (note restored zygomatic arch and arch of jawline)

GNG before (note wide bulky chin and jaw, and obliterated jaw angle)
    comparison6.jpg
Revision Surgery (Note narrower chin and restored jaw angle, less bulkiness)

I will likely follow up with more detailed actual images (with parts of my face covered) but for now just please respect the fact I want to try and stay as private as I can. I’m sorry.

    Costs/Results/ Am I Happy?

This is a hard question to ask,…because I am still living with some of the effects from the first surgery, and the mental burden of having to go through two major surgeries, coughing up blood, the nightmares, the swelling, the worrying. It can just become too much at times, and I’m trying to just get back to even with regards to my finances and the cost of this revision surgery, and focusing on my future and my work.

I think this surgery when I factor in all the travel costs, time off work, and surgery costs will have totaled about £21,000.

Overall I would say I am reasonably happy with the revision surgery but I have a few minor issues. Those being:

    (1) slightly bone being removed than I would like in chin area, and

    (2) I have a muscle issue where the masseter (chewing) muscle lies above where the implant is. I’m not sure how to correct this but it doesn’t look very good atm. Here is a PDF outlining what I am talking about -

    https://www.dryaremchuk.com/blog/masseter-muscle-reattachment-after-mandibular-angle-surgery/
    comparison5.jpg

I asked the doctor prior to surgery about the PDF above (2) because this was the one major worry of mine going into surgery and I was assured 3 times it wouldn’t happen…but I have the exact issues pictured so I’m a little annoyed by that if I'm 100% being honest. I may try fillers in the area and see if that works before any more invasive surgery.

I’m happy to answer questions as much as I can or help anyone in the same situation. I’ll post the second part probably Friday if I have the time after work.

I'm sorry for being gone so long. I'm sure you can understand for anyone who has considered or who has gone through surgery. Thanks for all your patience and support. It has really meant a lot to me. GNG Hospital has never once apologized for any of this despite me having stacks of evidence proving exactly what I asked for and I will never forgive them for what they did to me I just cant... I'll be going more into detail regarding them and their practices in my next post to make sure no-one has to go through anything with that hospital.

  10. I have an update. I know I promised it a few months ago, but a lot had happened with me getting a revision and I wanted to collate everything.

Plus, I had been in touch with GNG behind the scenes and Korean lawyers in the hope that I could get compensated fully for all that happened. I'm going to get everything together ( images, emails, message threads, xrays, scans etc ) and try to put in logical order what happened .There's a lot of information and a lot that's happened. I'm debating putting it in a new post.

I should have it by Friday or Saturday. I'm sorry not to keep you posted It has been the hardest thing ever to have to deal with this.

  11. Regarding the images. I never intended to be mean spirited. I was really trying to educate people over short termism and I'm sorry it came across that way. I was trying to help people perhaps in the most blunt way possible so people don't get hurt.

I completely understand these models are very happy with their faces. Its my opinion. I'm questioning the aesthetic, not the person. I'm sure they are all lovely people.

Its short termism in the sense that, its simple physics you are going to age much quicker with a large portion of your jaw removed, this is precisely why I asked that my result was more subtle.

If you are young, for a few years you will be fine, but couple that with bone resorption later in life and descent of soft tissue, then in my opinion its not a good idea.

And yes I totally agree, beauty is subjective. Thats why I emailed GNG and said do you have experience with western faces and jawlines etc? And every step of the way they promised me they can tailor the design to my own face and will be very careful. In reality they should have turned me away and been upfront and honest with me. But money talks.

A few months later their FC surgeon leaves the hospital for "personal" reasons. I'm sorry but I find this a little suspect. In my opinion this doctor has been at the hand of multiple patients who have been hurt and disfigured, and with little consequence.

The regulations need to be much stricter in Korea and elsewhere too. There needs to be some consequence. I spent over 13k in surgery and travel costs, and I got in total a 12 min consultation, a result which is the total polar opposite of what I asked for, and GNG can just go on as normal? In the meantime, I'm left to foot the bill for an expensive and painful revision, months of time off work, and thats just to get back to square one.

I could have got some money back from this to keep my mouth shut, so at least appreciate I am here telling my story making sure others don't have to go through the same.

  12. Thanks Miloukee. xxx

No he wasn't detail oriented. he spent about 5-6 mins pre surgery whilst I nervously mentioned all the things to my translator. "make sure he keeps jaw angle" "only subtle" etc etc. They made me feel rushed.

But you are right. The true talent in a good surgeon is one who doesn't impart his own standards of beauty and LISTENS to his patients, and asks questions. The surgeon didn't ask me one question...not one.

I don't know about you. But If I am performing major life changing surgery on someones face. I would ask a ton of questions to make sure we are in agreement with every single detail. This just seems like arrogance in hindsight.

In email I was promised of this constantly because it was one of my main concerns, and they ignored all my printouts which was heartbreaking.

I feel your pain. Thats why I am probably going to go with Dr Lee from Face Dental. At the very least he listened to me and asked me questions and went into lots of detail, so I feel assured he cares somewhat. They were my first choice but I ended up changing my mind at the last minute because of GNG making claims they couldn't live up to.

My issue now is trust. In my own job, I get paid well but my motivation isn't solely money,..its to make sure I do a good job everyday so I am proud of myself and my work. I realised most of the plastic surgery industry is full of heartless surgeons who really don't care. Maybe the sheer volume of patients some have dehumanises their work I'm not sure. But if it was me I would take less patients and devote more time to my craft.

GNG Hospital didn't care. Instead of offering help they offerred me money to shut me up. So don't be a victim. Dont go there. Find a clinic or surgeon who you bond with, doesn't rush you or try to get money out of you or force you to pay. Be wise:smile:

I hope you find a solution too. Peace and love  xxx
