  1. do you know a website listing all the board certified dermatologists in Seoul? Thanks for your advice

  2. Hey there, it's close to perfect but nothing is perfect, if I gave it a 10/10 I would most definitely be lying, plus because I have thick skin (my entire nose is naturally slightly on the bulbous side), I have yet to see my end result since it is still in the process of recovery. My 70% is still there btw  I hope this helps!

  3. Not necessarily, at the very beginning of my post op my bridge is very high since it was swollen and has yet to be reabsorbed by the body, I remember Dr. Kim told me that only 20-30% will be absorbed into the body the rest will be there. My bridge is now pretty stabilised I do not notice the bridge getting any lower (further reabsorption) now, and this is only 3 months post op. However, my tip has yet to completely de-swell. Hope this helps

  4. Hello everyone, I am here to talk about my personal experience in getting plastic surgery in Seoul. I will try my best to include all the detailed and relevant information about my procedure for those who are still lurking through online forum contemplating whether or not to embark on this life-changing journey.

Procedure: Rhinoplasty (tip-plasty, nose bridge augmentation, alar reduction for a single side of the nostril to balance out asymmetry)

Note: It is best to be accompanied by a friend or a family member pre & post-surgery for emotional support

I have spent the very first two days of arrival, researching on the possible clinics and their corresponding doctors for rhinoplasty, I finally came across two choices which is Dr Hong from GNG hospital and Dr Kim from April 31st. While researching on this topic, I found out Dr Kim is an actual board certified plastic surgeon that specialises in rhinoplasty, the board certified accreditation gave me a lot of confidence and reassurance to go ahead and have my procedure done by them instead of GNG. Moreover, Dr Kim is famous for creating a more defined, natural look instead of a more drastic change in the appearance of the nose which is precisely what I am looking for my final result.

    Consultation:

I went for 2 consultations, the first one was with GNG and the second was with April 31st.

April 31st: I was immediately greeted by Christy who is an English speaking consultant of April 31st (there is another girl that translates Mandarin to Korean for my Mandarin speakers out there), she spoke perfect and clear English which is essential when it comes to communicating with the medical staff there.

We went into the consultation room to discuss which facial feature I would like to enhance and operated on, which will be my nose. She then immediately arranged a CT/X-ray scan for my consultation with Dr Kim.

Dr Kim analyzed the structure of my nose and suggested what could be done to enhance the look of it, using his expertise in this subject he made knowledgeable and reasonable suggestions, when I told him that I want a high nose bridge and a pointy tip, he advised me only to raise the bridge only by 2-3mm not too high or else it will look unnatural. The same goes to the tip of my nose, since I have a bulbous nose, undergoing tip-plasty can raise my nose tip to create a sharper and a more defined look that mixes my face instead of shaving the side bones of my nostrils for a narrower look. Alar reduction was also suggested only on the left side of my nose to create an overall symmetrical look.

Note that I have opted to use all natural materials for this operation, namely my right ear cartilage for the tip-plasty, and a relatively new method using dermofat harvested from a small area right in the centre and above the buttocks (approximately 2 inches) for the bridge of my nose instead of using rib cartilage or medical grade silicone. I have also had PRP injection for my inflamed acne skin with hyperpigmentation.
This was my first time getting plastic surgery in Seoul, so naturally, I did have more questions for the procedure, I went for a second consultation to reiterate my concerns in which Dr Kim and Christy are very patient in explaining the proposed procedures for the operation.

Results: Dr. Kim has told me that I have thick skin. Therefore the swelling will take relatively longer than patients with thinner skin to subside, other than that my results are quite natural. I am still experiencing minor changes in my nose until this very day since it has only been two months post-op.

Post-op care had been quite decent. I received an anti-swelling IV, a session of deswelling red-laser treatment and one facial treatment.

    Ratings:

    Professionalism: 9/10
    Results: 8/10

Would I recommend this clinic to others? : Yes
