  1. Funny thing. I consulted with Hershe as well for fat grafting, and came away entirely unimpressed with the experience.

I wrote about my consults in a previous post, and won't recapitulate it, but suffice to say, there is very little real science in their marketing spiel regarding fat grafting.
There is no such thing as "donor" stem cells. In the context of plastic surgery and fat grafting, you either receive your own (autologous) stem cells harvested along with fat from another area of your body and re-transplanted, or you're not receiving stem cells, period.

Transplantation of non-self stem cells for therapeutic purposes is currently limited to the treatment of diseases like multiple myeloma and certain leukemias, aplastic anemia, among other serious life threatening conditions, and carries risks like rejection of the donor cells (GVHD), susceptibility to infection, acute rejection, etc.

I wish they would stop misinforming patients.

  2. I don't engage in trivial internet squabbling, but I also see people come to this forum everyday, asking about which surgeon is best or what procedure they should get, only to be innundated by a slew of at best misleading or at worst downright false information. OP may be a smart girl, but I hate to see others being mislead by those who have no idea what they are talking about. There is too of much of that already on this forum.

I know and work with many oral maxillofacial surgeons. I've seen double jaw surgery performed in the operating theatre. So, yes, I do know what I'm talking about...professionally.

  3. I'm not "worked up" about it hun. I'm pointing out that you have no idea what you're talking about. And yes, preach Pakune.

  4. My thoughts exactly.
This is the type of frankly uninformed information that vulnerable, suggestible individuals who solicit opinions (and they are exactly that) from unqualified internet strangers oftentimes receive.

OP, consult an actual plastic surgeon if you want an accurate assessment.

  5. Sorry you're living this nightmare @p.joann14.

I was one of the people who got swept up in the hype of positive GNG reviews on PF back in 2017 and ended up choosing them for my PS procedures. I will not go so far as to say that I had a horrible experience, it was not an overall positive one either. I will affirm though that customer service was definitely a weak point for them, and there were issues with transparency and accountability which I see echoed in accounts by numerous other patients on this forum.

  6. I was not impressed with the consultant's lack of knowledge about fat grafting, and worse yet, the surgeon providing me with misinformation about the procedure.
They told me that they used "Donor" stem cells in their stem cell fat grafting procedure, which is technically impossible. Simply a marketing ploy by them to differentiate themselves from the competition.

  7. Hold up. I'm not understanding your rationale. What exactly do you mean about a v-line "biasing" your double jaw surgery results? Do you prefer doing and recovering from 2 separate osteotomy surgeries? I know I wouldn't.

  8. What they don't tell you is that the process of freezing living cells is quite an involved one. You need to do it carefully in order to mitigate the cell death that occurs both when dropping the temperature of the sample and again when thawing the sample out. Survival will depend greatly on the protocol for freezing and dethawing, so we aren't able to say with any certainty how many cells from a frozen sample survive, except that it will be nowhere near that of a fresh sample.

  9. Lots of misinformation about "stem cell" fat grafts out there. Basically, stem cells naturally exist within fat. A stem cell fat graft just concentrates and increases the amount of stem cells within a given volume of autologous fat graft (and no, donor stem cells are not a thing, as they would be rejected by your immune system). The claim of stem cells (as well as PRP fat grafts) is a higher survival rate of fat cells and thus more retained volume.

The link to Regen's stem cell harvesting procedure showing harvesting from the hip previously posted is not for fat grafting.

  10. Nope, they didn't include it. I asked for and was quoted extra for the inter-brow botox. I had the same line of thought as you in that I felt fat survival would be enhanced with less movement post-graft.

Hard to say if the jaw botox injected by GNG made a noticeable difference at the time, as my masseters are not super hypertrophic. I had them injected last summer as well with 75 units Botox (name brand, not the Korean stuff) at another international clinic, and the doctor doing the injecting commented that she felt I didn't really even need it for aesthetics (though it does double duty for me to counter my bruxing).

Good point, this was my 1st time getting inter-brow botox, and it may well be that they fell short of the threshold dose required. I carefully monitored and documented my muscle activity with pictures and did not see ANY change in the extent to which I could furrow my brows. My brow muscle game is next level though, Emilia Clarke strong, so there's that.

  11. I should add, HOWEVER, that I will NOT be going back to GNG for future fat grafts or any other out of pocket procedures.

They way they chose to deal with the apparent lack of efficacy of my forehead botox treatment (there was absolutely no change in the magnitude of my 11s weeks and months out) was to offer a redo "IF I come back to Korea within a 1 YEAR PERIOD ", knowing full well that it was unlikely for me to return, instead of offering a refund or no time limit redo.

There are too many other good clinics in Seoul to be bothered with one that doesn't put their patient's results and satisfaction first.

  12. Okay, so this is a very overdue update. It's been over 2 years since my fat graft and I've been satisfied with the results.

If you've read my original post, you'll see that the process and recovery were not without incident, but overall at this stage I am happy and have no plans to do a follow up graft. True...I don't have the super plump visage and protuberant forehead that is often desired, but I am a pragmatist and not a perfectionist. My undereye area and nasolabial folds are much improved, and I see improvement in the contour of my forehead and brow area.

The numbness in my thighs at the donor site is gone now (peripheral sensory nerves heal well). I never did go back and take GNG up on their offer to have botox to my "11s" within a year as I have been way too busy, but hope they will honour their promise to redo it the next time I'm in Seoul, as it never worked the first time. No idea if that will happen as their consultant turnaround has been pretty high.

  13. Not a chance. You will look like a blowfish the first week at least. At 1 month you will still NOT look normal to friends and family, but someone unfamiliar may not look twice.

  14. He is a surgeon, just not a certified plastic surgeon.

  15. Did Fresh tell you that you'll need at least 2x fat transplantation procedures at $5000 a pop, for a total of at least $10000 in order to achieve good retention volume for fat graft breast augmentation? Because they mentioned this to me.

Fat grafting large volumes is still quite a tricky thing, even for the most skilled of plastic surgeons. The best results I've seen for breast fat grafting come from surgeons based in the US.
