sunnyme Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Hi For a person with HIV but in very good health, are there some clinics that accept to do plastic surgery? anybody with experience ? Or is there any clinic that does not ASK about this kind of health check information ?
zaza13333 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 They will know for sure it’s impossible for them not doing test about that I recommend your friend not hiding it It’s risky ☹️
karema Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 They might ask for sickness something like that before consultation or surgery. or they will ask for the letter from your friend about the health condition/ or doctors' letter of your family doctor. I think this would be case by case and why don't you ask the PS with the health condition examination result?
bonabona Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 You must inform this... Surgery involves making incision so therefore blood... Other people's safety is at risk
Livflorence Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 They will do blood test. I am sure they will able to find out. But it will be a good idea to declare. All the best!
jphuoc Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 Exactly. Be considerate of the healthcare providers taking care of you. Preprocedural blood tests do not include HIV screening...
Livflorence Posted January 29, 2019 Posted January 29, 2019 The blood test does include HIV checks. This is important as GA is involved. Some clinics doesn’t do the blood test if it’s sedation but hospital will do blood test be it GA or sedation and it includes checking of HIV as well.
honeymilktea Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 You have to disclose that you have HIV, if one of the healthcare praticioners were to be affected due to lack of disclosure there would be legal implications
Livflorence Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 She is right, disclose and embrace it! They will keep it confidential.
jphuoc Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 I practice anesthesia in the US, and HIV screening is not routine. The virus does not affect my anesthetic plan. 1
fortunecat Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Is it illegal in Korea not to disclose HIV status if one is seeking surgery procedures there?
Livflorence Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Maybe they are more careful in korea. Not too sure but was told it does include hence why
happymars Posted January 30, 2019 Posted January 30, 2019 Of course you will need to inform the hospital or clinic about this.
