yumigumi Posted February 15, 2019 Posted February 15, 2019 Did you have or need to get braces before getting it done. I don't wanna have to wait for months or even years with braces in order to get the surgery.
zaza13333 Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Apparently only Korea can do it whitout braces but it also depends how is your bite
eurasian_rapunzel Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 Hey yumigumi from my experience yes because they need to align your bite in order to determine what the correct ‘measurement’ of the realignment should be. I know in Korea ps clinics they don’t necessarily do it that way but I’d recommend going with the braces before hand because it has a functional benefit as well. I did 6 months in braces prior to surgery then another 4 months or so after. They’ll wire and band your braces for a couple of weeks after surgery which means you’ll be eating a liquid diet but that ensures your bite, and consequently your jaw, stays in place and doesn’t go out of whack.my experience was with an oral maxillofacial surgeon and orthodontist. The former are dentists with additional training in ps and cranial deformities so I felt they were much better qualified than a regular ps. I had a minor underbite causing my face to look long and creacentish and always thought it was my Chin but in reality it was my bite. I didn’t shave my Chin at all and now my face is heart shaped instead of Long with a cute small Chin
eurasian_rapunzel Posted February 23, 2019 Posted February 23, 2019 Ps I only had lower jaw surgery and my underbite wasn’t obvious from my teeth which looked straight - upon closer inspection you’d see my lower row of teeth actually reclined slightly to accommodate for the underbite.
kawhy Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Did you get yours done in Korea? I have minor underbite as well and looking to get it fixed. Any details about your experience would be helpful too please!
