Rhino and DES at View PS (April 2019)

Recommended Posts

Hi PS Enthusiasts!

I had my cast removed for my rhinoplasty a few days ago and wanted to share my journey on my primary rhinoplasty and Double Eyelids Surgery (DES) in Seoul in April 2019.

Disclaimer:
  • This is my 100% honest opinion about my journey on clinic selection, surgery and post-op treatment
  • Please don’t spread any negativity on this thread. I am not a promoter and paid my surgery by myself. The reason why I am writing this review is to help someone who is looking for information on similar procedures, clinics, etc. I was in the same position last year: doing research on multiple clinics, procedures and post-op treatments. I am also thankful for useful information that many girls on KakaoTalk and Purseforum shared. ;)
  • Please don’t ask for B&A pictures – I have decided to be fully anonymous. I have met with several girls from KakaoTalk so they at least know that I am real. ;)
I had never undergone any plastic surgery (not even botox and fillers). That’s why I am quite careful with my clinic and procedures selection – better doing it once but correctly. Luckily, I have a quite high bridge from nature, but my nose is bulbous, wide and deviated. I didn’t have a severe breathing problem, but I notice my breathing isn’t optimal. For eyes, I have full monolids with Mongolian folds (sleepy eyes).

My overall goal for plastic surgery is to optimize my feature, not to change it completely and definitely not to look like a “Gangnam Unnie” ;). I wanted a higher bridge for my nose and also that the surgeon fixes my deviated septum and reduce the bulbousness of my nose. For eyes, I wanted parallel and high-creased folds which are super hard to obtain with my monolids and Mongolian folded eyes.

Since I only have a strict 16-day holiday that can’t be extended, I have to select the clinic before leaving for Seoul. I had several online consultations ranging from a small/mid-sized clinics to large clinics. Several months before flying, I only had to choose between two clinics. Both of those clinics are large clinics with popular surgeons. The reasons why I chose large clinics instead of small/mid-sized clinics are that large clinics get used to accommodating international patients and that they have popular and better-skilled surgeons (that’s why investors invest in those clinics – surgeon skills, high turnover from patients, profitability). Well at least, that’s my common sense. ;)

Both clinics gave me a good first impression: their consultants explained each procedure in detail and gave me an idea what’s realistic. I was in contact with their consultants for several months and they were/are patiently answering my questions.

After doing all those research and endless discussion with Kakao girls, I decided to choose View and put deposit before leaving for Seoul to secure my surgery date and to be able to stay in their VIP (guesthouse) room. The main reason why I chose View is their consistent result (and of course accident-free). All the Kakao girls (that I know) who had surgeries at View are happy with their results. Some who demanded dramatic changes got what they wanted (and vice versa).

View has two specialists for the nose (both are ENT as well): Dr. Lee and Dr. Yun. Both surgeons have a different style for the nose (pls check their insta): Dr. Lee claims that he can do both natural and dramatic change. I chose Dr. Lee because simply I really like his aesthetics taste and the fact that he is an ENT too. Dr. Kim is the most senior eye surgeon, I picked him because of his experience in dealing with different eye shapes.

After putting my deposits, my consultant offered me to stay in their VIP room for several days. You are eligible to stay in the VIP room if your spending exceeds a certain threshold – pls ask your consultant more about this. I thought this was a “nice to get” thing in the beginning until I had my nose bled hard. It was Saturday midnight and I was so afraid and insecure whether I had to wait until Monday. Eventually, I decided to call the nurse – View has 24/7 nurse service in case of emergency. The nurse changed the cotton that was put under your nose after surgery and ensured me that everything was ok.

Ok, back to my arrival in Seoul. Since my consultant offered me a pick-up service at Incheon Airport, I didn’t have to deal with planning my arrival and transport. I had my appointment directly on my arrival date with Dr. Lee, Dr. Kim, and Dr. Yun. Initially, I wanted to get consultation for facial contouring (FC) with Dr. Yun and Dr. Lee and to come back several months later for FC surgery. View has 15 floors building and is packed with different departments, such as dermatology, dental, urology, etc. The lobby area is well-packed with patients, even during low season month like April with a good combination of local and foreigners. You will not probably get 2 hours consultation at View since the surgeons are quite busy (Which is a better sign ;) ). However, I prepared myself so well with questions and topics to discuss and I didn’t feel that they were rushed to finish the consultation. All the surgeons were realistic about what they can do. Dr. Lee rejected my request to get FC surgery after seeing my X-Ray. He suggested me to lose weight naturally through diets and healthy eating. If I fail with diets, he mentions that I can always go back for acculift. I pushed Dr.Lee a bit for FC surgery and he said the farthest he would do is chin implant. Because of this rejection, my consultant canceled my appointment with Dr. Yun for FC. My surgery was already scheduled before (2 days after consultation) because I was dead sure about my decision to go with View.

Surgery details:

For the nose, I chose to get Goretex instead of silicone because of its natural looking look and it has less chance of shifting. Dr. Lee made my bridge higher, fixed my deviated septum and my tip smaller. He didn’t agree with my suggestion to get alarplasty, if he increases the bridge a lot, my nose will look smaller even without alarplasty.

For eyes, as expected and predicted before, I got full incisional DES with ptosis and epicanthoplasty (inner corner).

Surgery day:

I had to fast +8 hours due to general anesthesia (GA). View recommended GA only if you get osteotomy for the nose. Nose procedures without osteotomy will be done through sleep sedation.

I filled out paperwork before surgery and got the chance to meet and consult with Dr. Kim and Dr. Lee before my surgery. Eye surgery was done under local anesthesia since I was instructed to open and close my eyes multiple times. After eyes surgery, I went directly under GA and felt no pain, even after surgery. After waking up from GA, I wasn’t allowed to drink for three hours and had to stay awake too. This was torture lol ;). After three hours passed, I was allowed to go directly to my room in the same building (definitely a convenient factor!). I threw up once after GA and drinking water. On that night, I felt no pain but I didn’t get the best quality of sleep.

Recovery:

I have no eating restriction, but I tried to eat healthy for the first 3 days of post-op surgery. I gave up for Korean bbq from the 4th days going forward lol ;). View has a standard deswelling treatment, light therapy. The nose packing was taken out on the 3rd day. I didn’t take fancy deswelling kits, in facts only Bromelain and Arnica I bought from my home country in Europe. On the 7th day, they took off my cast and I can finally see the shape of my nose. Even with swelling, I like the shape and height. I can’t wait until it completely deswells! Dr. Kim did a good job for my eyes too – it turns out to be so symmetrical and parallel.

I will definitely post updates on my progress!

XoXo,

Kittyrella

and ty for your post! I feel like I'm on the same boat as you. I'm doing so much research before and debating on if I should fly out just for a consultation and fly back a few months later for surgery or just do it all in one trip.

I had multiple surgeries done, so the combination of surgeries offer different price per person and doing multiple surgeries will give you discounts.
For the nose, I had already quite high bridge so I might have a different basis as the other person. I don't know how they determine the price. Pls ask your consultant .

i had the same debate! but it ended up working out since deciding to just spend an entire summer in Korea pretty much.... i cant imagine deciding to go with a certain doctor or clinic before meeting them though. just crossing my fingers that the surgery dates will be vacant enough for me to rsvp with the one i choose to go with!

I always say if you have the time to do face to face consultation first before making any PS decision I'd highly recommend doing that. However, some of us have a fixed job, are quite busy and are not able to take multiple holidays in a year. For those people, it might make sense to settle down before heading to Seoul.

completely agree. I have the freedom of time this year, hence being able to take so much time off for this.

  • 2 months later...
Hi guys,

As I promised to a few members here, I will update you on my 3-month post-op recovery. In the first 3 weeks post-op, smiling was tight – I can smile but I notice that my skin was stretched. I tried to live healthily and eat clean after coming back from Seoul. I started doing sport only after 1.5 months – I am too paranoid about my nose.

After 1.5 months the nose bridge started becoming more natural (lower but still high enough). I did notice a small difference in the tip – I think the tip requires more time to deswell than the bridge in general. The dissolvable threads used for Rhinoplasty came out together with gunks after 1.5 months. I only used normal cotton buds to clean my nose once in a while (not daily) and no saline solution because I basically didn’t know how it works with saline solution. I saw YouTube videos about it but I was too chicken to do it. Lol ^^

My eyes become less swollen time after time and stay symmetrical. I am super happy about how it turns out. The changes in my face are so obvious (that’s what I was aiming for) however, they blend nicely with the rest of my features. People do notice the changes, however, I only shared my PS journey with my family and close friends and avoid any discussion on this topic. Close friends, family, and bf do compliment me on how I look and also the positive changes from one month to another month.

View team follows up on my results once in a while. Therefore, I am also considering them for my planned procedures (acculift and chin implants).

Unfortunately, I got into an accident two weeks ago that caused scars all over my face ;(( . I told View’s English team about it. They created a chat on KakaoTalk for following up my scars recovery. The consultant contacted View’s dermatologist to check what procedures needed, etc. That’s definitely all-inclusive service that large clinics can provide and I am glad that I chose View. They have organized a personalized plan for a nose check-up, scars treatment, and consultation for other procedures I requested for.
