jamietan123 Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Hi guys , I was wondering if I were to carry cash to korea I have to declare my money if over 8 million won. But what will happen if I declare? Will I need to do a lot of paper work? Because my procedure is the next day and I’m afraid If I withdraw from atm it might not work. And I don’t own a credit card. So can someone please tell me if carrying 20k cash is illegal?
cambree Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 Hey I am not sure about the need to make a declaration if you bring in cash exceeding a certain amount but global ATMs do allow you to withdraw up to 3k SGD a day and if you have more than one bank account you can spread out the funds out so u max out the daily withdrawal limit at each bank. Also you can pay by debit card. If the clinic charges a 10% vat for the card component , you should be able to get this tax amount refunded at the airport if this is your first surgery (for this specific procedure) and not a revision
luzie Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 When you pass the airport staff the declaration form, they will usher you to a corner and ask you to show them the money. Just tell them it’s for surgery and they will ask you sign a form and you can go.
