Facial Contouring for American

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I’ve been highly considering going to South Korea for cosmetic surgery, specifically facial contouring. I just have one problem; I’m not sure what specifically I want done. As cheesy as it sounds, I just want to improve the general attractiveness of my face. I don’t have a square jaw, I don’t have overly protruding cheeks, etc. so I guess what I’m wondering is, does there need to be a specific flaw in your facial structure in order for facial contouring to have any affect? Or is it possible to make a seemingly average face more aesthetically pleasing?

And if so, what are the best clinics for foreigners? I’m a 21 year old Caucasian male (I’m not sure if that information makes a difference).

I would suggest to do your research first before taking any PS. FC shouldnt not be taken lightly. Also u need to consider that SK's standard of beauty is different from western. Asians prefer lower zygoma and no jaw at all to have that soft boyish look -- look at those Kpop artists.

Western beauty on the other hand, prefers high cheekbones and strong jaw ala Steve Rogers /Capt America.

So yeah take your time and good luck!

Thanks for the input! Do you know of any clinics in Korea (or anywhere) that have experience with westerners? There doesn’t appear to be many places in the USA that offer FC.

For the US there are actually a few famous specialists that offer it, you can check out the forums for facial femininzation elsewhere on google since they typically work with transgender people. Ive seen results and they look good, however prices are much higher compared to SK. However imo you only have one face, its worth it to go w a surgeon more familiar w your structure since asian and caucasian faces are very different anatomically.

Some doctors may be reluctant to do any bone contouring on you if you don't need it. Maybe try some less invasive treatments first? Facial bone surgery is very invasive and I wouldn't recommend doing it unless you've got a specific issue with your face shape. How about trying some things like facial contouring injections or something like acculifting first?

I appreciate the advice, but fillers and etc just don’t really change anything (in my opinion). In all the before and after pictures, the people looking exactly the same to me. Seems like a waste of money for something that has little affect, and is only temporary

Western aesthetics like big jaws, strong cheekbones...Korean doctors are experienced in jaw and cheekbone reduction. And you are not Asian, i don’t see the point of you going to Korea, especially when you have no idea what you want. how can you expect anyone to help you without pictures

I couldn’t imagine a bigger surgical mistake than a young 20s white male going to Korea for aesthetic surgery when he has no idea what he wants. Careful brother

I just mean that if you're gonna do full on FC, at least make sure you really need or want it :/ V line surgery is done for people who have square jaws and wide or long chins
The v line surgery reduces the shape and size of the mandible and makes the chin narrow and pointy.
If you don't have a square jaw or big cheek bones, facial contouring might not be necessary  that's all I mean haha

You may send your pictures to different clinics and ask their opinion. It's better to choose the clinic that has before/afters of Westerners. as facial contouring method is different. Some clinics even did the virtual plastic surgery for me, so I could get the idea of how it will look like.

I agree, fillers are not good for long term use- they also stretch the skin and sag eventually and it creates a vicious cycle of constantly needing more fillers to replace the space as it expands.

whether or not you need facial contouring depends on the proportions of your skull, for example the length of midface vs your lower third, the width of your temple compared to zygoma, how far apart your eyes are. Everyone's faces are different so whether or not you are suitable candidate depends on overall harmony. I personally hate when men get v-line, it looks awful in my opinion and makes their faces look too feminine.
