Hi guys. I had another PF account before but I decided to make a new one. I was kinda embarrassed by my weird ramblings in past threads I have made lol. So I'm starting fresh. I pretty much just arrived in Korea and started my consulting yesterday. Some of you may know me in the kakao chats as Potato. So please don't even try to call me a shill or anything like that or I'll B mad lol.
So anyway, yes, yesterday on my clinic consult day, I decided on a clinic and have surgery booked for this Monday ^_^ I plan to keep this thread as a record of my experience and... feelings I feel during the process haha.

Some background info (Skip this to get straight into my PS experience if you want hahaha I haven't done my PS yet but I have booked my surgery)
I've always planned to share my experience with you guys. I'm so glad I can do that now. Jeez I'm almost getting emotional lol. I've been dreaming about this for years now. I came to Korea with the intention of getting rhino and FC done and maybe some smaller things like botox and fillers too. I've always wanted to have rhino done especially. Since I was 12 years old. I was like nope I'm fixing this thing when I turn 18. Well I'm 20 now. Close enough haha. It took me literally forever to save enough money because I started my job as an intern earning much less than minimum wage. But I'm kinda glad it took me that long, because I did a ton of research. Talked to heaps of you guys. Read tonnes of reviews, stalked the b/a sections of clinic websites. I learned the Korean and English words for specific surgeries too. Which I recommend doing before your consult. It helped me a lot to understand exactly what the doctors wanted to do to my face. I consulted with a lot of clinics over kakao too. When I first started looking into surgery in Korea, I only really found info on the big, big clinics that all the foreigners go to. If I had the money then, I probably would have gone to them because that's all I knew. But eventually I was introduced to smaller clinics more catered to locals. I then decided I wanted to go to a smaller clinic. While I have a different facial structure to Korean people, there ARE Korean people with similar concerns to mine, too. Now I know that people have had great experiences at places like ID hospital, GNG, Jewelry etc but I really wanted a more personal feeling from the clinic, if that makes sense. I didn't want to be seen as just another foreginer. So I set out to find a medium or small clinic for my surgeries.

Wannabe PS consult

I came to Wannabe first after the airport and I sort of thought I would end up choosing them. I even booked my Airbnb across the road. I had a good experience in the consultation but I felt that the doctor had a much different vision than me. Dr Cha was very kind and knowledgeable but we didn't really agree with what I wanted to do for my face. I'm not very concerned about looking natural, honestly. I don't mind a dramatic result. I think Wannabe is definitely worth a consult if you're looking for a natural looking nose and a very skilled and experienced rhino doctor. Quotes are very fair too ^^ but, eventually I did not choose to go with Wannabe as I really wanted to do FC and a more dramatic nose

Consult experience:
I was greeted by Alexis the English consultant. She was very sweet and easy to talk to and offered my husband and I some coffee when we arrived. I filled out a form and then went in to have a CT scan done. I spoke with Alexis in the consult room about which procedures I would like to do. Then Dr Cha came in and had a look at me. He was quite shocked when I said I wanted to do FC. He was really nice and complimented my facial ratio a lot (made me feel good about myself for a sec hahaha)
But this meant he did not want to touch my facial bones. Also I think he's a very talented rhino surgeon but his suggestions were a little too conservative for me. But I appreciate his desire to keep his noses looking natural and not overdone and to also preserve the ethnicity of the patient  I did enjoy my consult even though I did not choose them in the end

To be continued. I'll post my Uvom consult review next ^^

Uvom consultation
I came to Uvom next after Wannabe. Then I filled out a form first with my details and also ticked on the form which parts of my face/body I wanted to address. Then I was taken to a room to have photos taken of my face at various angles. Then finally a CT scan. I came into the consult room with Eunice and Stephanie where I was asked in more detail about the surgeries I was interested in. Eunice was very detailed in her explanation and knew a lot about the surgical techniques the doctor can use to achieve my desired result. Both Eunice and Stephanie had very kind demeanors and I felt at ease with them in the room. I was nervous as hell but they had really soothing voices lol.

Then Dr Lee came in once I had discussed all my concerns and came to review what Eunice had recorded down and looked at my scans and photos. I was relieved that he understood what I wanted and agreed with my concerns. I had a very particular vision for my nose and I was really impressed that he was able to give me a detailed plan of how he'd perform it. I felt more convinced that he was able to give me the result I was hoping for. I found Dr Lee to be a pleasant man with a gentle demeanor. He did seem very busy though. I felt like he had another surgery soon xD haha, which I understand because he's the director. But he did NOT hurry me along at all or cut me off or anything like that. He made an effort to explain the procedures clearly and also gave me opportunity to voice my opinions and concerns about his propositions.

The consult was VERY thorough and in-depth. I was very happy with the way the consult went. I'm super friggin picky about my nose so I'm glad we discussed every little detail of the procedure. That's exactly what I want in a consult. I decided to book my surgery then and there. I decided that didn't want to consult with other clinics the next day.

Also you guys weren't kidding lol. It really does take three hours. Definitely plan your consults so that you have at least 3 hours for uvom haha

Procedures I'm getting
~ Nose~
My nose was my biggest insecurity for years and years. It's the part of my face I'm the most insecure about. So naturally it means it's the part that I'm the pickiest about. I had very specific goal in my mind. I had photoshopped some pics of myself and I showed Dr Lee for reference xD lol. He and Eunice said that while I described the difference as "subtle", it was quite a dramatic difference in the eyes of a surgeon. I appreciated their honesty haha. But Dr Lee didn't say it was impossible! And he explained to me how we can achieve my goals.

Facial contouring
Like Dr Cha and Alexis of Wannabe, Dr Lee and Eunice did not think I needed any mandible reduction. They said I can achieve my desired result through a T ostetomy on my chin to make it less long and also with facial lipo. They explained that it's the fat around my jaw and cheeks that gives my face the wide and sqaure look, not the bone itself. But Dr Lee did agree that I'd benefit from a chin reduction to improve the ratio / proportions of my lower face. So the surgeon plan is T ostetomy but no shaving of the mandible at all. Eunice explained earlier that there won't be a significant "gap" or "bumpiness" between the reduced chin and the rest of the jaw. Sorry I can't explain it properly hahaha but it made sense in the consultation. Eunice showed me some Xrays and photos of people who had done the procedure and the "gap" was not noticeable at all to the eye, but she did say that I could probably feel it a little with my hand haha. In some cases they will shave a little of the mandible to, but I think because my chin is just long and not that wide, it's not needed.

Facial fat surgery:
They explained that my sqaure shaped "jaw" is just an excess of facial fat. So I was recommended to have the fat removed in the area to give me the V line effect with a much less invasive method than mandible reduction. For the facial fat, I decided to NOT have the fat repositing or grafting done. Only the removal of fat. I didn't think I needed FG and Eunice explained that just lipo alone can be done if I wish  but it's usually one procedure (the liposuction and repositing of the fat to the face to add volume in areas such as the nasiolabial folds) But I was happy to get only the lipo only.

After discussing my surgery, seeing photos and xrays of similar patients and of course also coming to a price that was in my budget, I decided to book and pay my deposit with Uvom. They are more open to bargaining in the F2F if you guys were wondering too
After deciding, we took a chest x-ray, EKG for my heart and a blood test as well. I hate blood tests but that was pretty quick and painless. The tests took about 30 minutes to complete:smile:
I have been sent some pre OP instructions via kakao and I will arrive an hour early to fill out some paperwork before I go in for surgery. My sugery is scheduled next week and I'm very excited ^^
To be continued soon
