cythr Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 I was wondering how much of a discount would be reasonable to expect for paying in cash on top of bargaining the actual price of surgery? Also, why do some people worry about declaring money at the airport?
danbam Posted May 26, 2019 Posted May 26, 2019 I personally heard discounts for using cash around 10%, but that's because the clinic doesn't have to declare if you paid with cash. But do check and ask about the VAT refund, I'm not sure if it's still going. People worry about declaring over 10k because customs agents might ask as to why you're bringing such a large amount over to South Korea. I wouldn't be too worried, however, if you can explain that the money is being used for medical tourism in the country (instead of more illegal activities lol) then you should be fine.
cythr Posted May 26, 2019 Author Posted May 26, 2019 The clinics ive been talking to have all said there is a 7% VAT refund so hopefully if I pay in cash I should be able to get at least a 10% discount on top of bargaining.
ginochon Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 I do know that some hospitals have the same price for cc and cash, no difference in price.
oleander1286 Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 I think there's no discount for paying in cash... they do offer you some for using your pics in their marketing purposes in return but as far as I know that's all they offer... or maybe I should've ask more... (?)
gqwiththesteez Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 I heard the discount is 10% since if you pay with other methods, the clinic has to pay a 10% VAT.
