Hello all! After speaking and consulting with loads of surgeons in the US and South Korea, I have realised that the biggest difference they have on Asian rhinoplasty is that American doctors often prefer rib cartilage for bridge augmentation while South Koreans often opt for implants of manmade materials.

When I asked some SK clinics, they simply said that Asian doctors know better about Asian patients and that's why SK is the world's plastic surgery capital.

Could someone weigh on it? What causes this major difference between them?

Silicone/goretex implants are easier to come by and takes a shorter time for preparation. Also the shape of the implant is controlled easily. However, it has a higher chance of infection or deviation due to limited biocompatibility given its a foreign material. Cartilage requires much more skill and is more expensive, prone to warping/irregularities if not prepared properly.

On the other hand if you require a revision, removing silicone/goretex would be easier than your own cartilage. Also using foreign implants is less invasive as you don't have to harvest your rib cartilage. So both methods have pros and cons, and its up to you to decide which one is better.
