Hello. I am considering getting rhinoplasty in SK. I have always been insecure about my bulbous nose and low bridge. I After years of being self conscious, I finally decided to get surgery. At the moment, money is not an issue. I have saved up enough, and after my research (lurking) here and online consultation, I have consultations booked with the following clinics:
Banobagi
UVOM
GNG
ID
VIEW

I want a natural nose and I am willing to pay whatever it takes. I am Asian American, so I thought it would be better to have surgery in Korea as opposed to the U.S.
If any of you have any additional recommendations or advice, please help me out! The closer my date (going to Korea July 7th) gets, the more anxious I become because my life may never be the same again.

I had a revision rhinoplasty done as Hyundai Aesthetics with Dr. Lee Seong Pyo just over two weeks ago and I am super satisfied with my results. I recommend taking ID off of your list as they have really bad reviews.

Hello yukyuk:smile:
I will give you some information I know.

I have an impression that GNG is otolaryngology rather than cosmetic surgery. I think it's more suitable for functional improvement such as nasal septal curvature than for improvement of appearance. It's also more popular among men than women in Korea. Many soldiers are operating there.
And,Do you know that GNG performs nasal surgery under general anesthesia? It's not very good because it puts a lot of strain on the body. The type of anesthesia should also be noted:smile:

Other cosmetic surgeons are not specialized in nose, and there is no famous doctor. I think you should look for a doctor with high expertise rather than looking for a hospital...

I recommend Dr. Jaeyong Jeong from The plus and Dr. Man Koon Suh from JW.
They are famous directors not only in Korea but also in Asia and don't like unnatural changes.
The plus is expensive, but I think it's worth going to counseling. I hope you find a suitable hospital director:smile:

Heya YukYuk  Great to have you on the forums! From what I've heard, VIEW, UVOM, and GNG have some of the best rhinoplasty results. You should check out their instagrams to see the before and afters!

I will check out ID as well, just because I want to consult everybody that I can so I have no regrets.
I will check out the plus! I haven't heard about it. Also, btw why is general anesthesia not good?

Hey! I’ve chose Banobagi for it! Will be going for surgery in mid March 2020. I’ve actually done lots of research. And been taking notice of Banobagi’s work. They are reputable, and I’m comfortable with the surgeons, especially with dr Lee Hyun taek.

Actually, I personally think overall they still get good reviews, because the surgeons would perform their surgeries after he has taken account on multiple factors based on their nationalities, different population perception on beauty standard and etc. But of course, I think it is best to work with the surgeon you are really comfortable with, and would be able to address your concerns and issues. Cheers!

So I’ve tried to do multiple consultations with them. To make sure everything is clear. Communications might play an important role in getting the ideal outcome.

I can give you advice about the clinic, but you should check the basic knowledge by yourself. The risk of general anesthesia is higher than that of sleep anesthesia.
In my opinion, some hospitals use general anesthesia when they use costal cartilage for reoperation, but most hospitals use sleep anesthesia when they use nasal septal soft bone or auricular cartilage for the first operation.

And don't trust before and after photos. Most clinics modify photos. In some clinics, it is emphasized that the picture of Before is corrected more severely and improved by the operation...Instagram photos are no exception. Be careful.

In planning for my trip, I read so much on these forums and also had a lot of help from all of you, I just want to share my experience now that I am all ready to go.

I am planning on flying out to Korea from the states on Sunday! I know I said I was looking into the clinics that I mentioned above, but I have added and removed some from my list and my short list is set for consultations!

UVOM: I really liked how their online consultant seemed straightforward and accommodating. They were quick to respond to my questions and they were not pushy either. I feel like UVOM didn’t seem too business oriented (which I liked). The negative aspect of this is that their website is of almost no help to those who cannot speak Korean. I like the reviews on this forum, but if I hadn’t researched separately through the chatrooms and forums, I probably wouldn’t have decided to have consultation considering I don’t have much access to their website material and I don’t feel appreciated as a foreign patient. However, the consultants and their overall reputation has ultimately made me decide to go see for myself.

GNG: I was hesitant about GNG because there are a lot of bad reviews on the forum. However, it seemed like the only hospital that stressed the ENT aspect of the nose so much, and I have people around me that have said that they have had breathing problems post-surgery, so I was really interested in GNG for health and breathing reasons. Their responses online were quick and they explained to me why they would recommend each procedure. I was really taken back by their thorough responses. I booked consultation with Dr. Seong, and I am looking forward to going in for face to face consultation. My reservations would be about the bad reviews, and I will be sure to ask them and update here.

JW: I decided to contact JW because of a recommendation on this thread. I really liked the credentials of Dr. Man Koon Suh. I contacted Emily and she was very nice. I asked her a few questions and after some research of my own, Dr. Suh seemed reputable enough to commit a consultation to JW. I like that he has a lot of experience and I do not know much about JW since this was all last minute, but it will be my third stop of the trip.

I reduced the amount of consultations I am getting to 3 because I didn’t want to rush through consultations, and I knew I was leaning in these directions anyway. I prioritized comfort, expertise in rhinoplasty, and overall reputation. I also made sure that the results were more natural than dramatic. What do you guys think about my choices! I would appreciate the feedback J

I got rhinoplasty at GNG & I'm really happy with the result! Dr Seong was amazing and so were the nurses.
I got rhinoplasty cause i had a small hump on my nose bridge but they also straightened my deviated septum.
At first I really wanted a really small and thin nose but after consulting at GNG i changed my mind and went with a more natural nose and like i said, im really happy with the results!
