astarrynight2019
So I just had an angular (jaw shaving) and zygoma surgery at Opera about 8 days ago. I heal pretty fast, with no bruising and it seems a lot swelling has gone down. I started eating solid food at day 2. I’m pleased with the result but as of today started getting shooting pains, almost like a cramp, at my jaw area near my ears. It only happens when I chew, or if I move my jaw a certain way. It’s quite painful. Has anyone else experienced this? I already flown back to the US since I need to be at work. I haven’t read about this symptom much and am worried it’s a bigger problem. wangsfastfood
I heard shooting pain is from your nerves repairing themselves. I have them in my chin area and I’m passed two months post op. It’s crazy you were eating solid food day 2 though, maybe take it easy with hard chewing food for now just in case.

astarrynight2019
Mine is like a injection pain, seems similar to yours. It lasts around 5 seconds and I feel like I’m literally paralyzed in the face.
wangsfastfood
It should go away. I was told the chin area will take 3 months. I’m at 2.5 months, a lot of muscle have relaxed over the past month. I think that’s what’s happening with you. Don’t worry too much about it!
