kwishes Posted September 9, 2019 Posted September 9, 2019 I did rhinoplasty and alarplasty with GNG 1.6 years ago. I have been very concerned about the scarring since the 6 month mark because my stitches burst when I’m back in Singapore. However, the consultants in GNG assured me that the scarring will go away in time. It has been so long and my scars are so visible. The stitches can practically be seen as scars. Is there any way to lessen the scars other than scar revision surgery and applying cream?
yunggrandpa Posted November 8, 2019 Posted November 8, 2019 I would wait a few more months in case there is residual swelling. Afterwards if these scars still persist, you can try CO2 resurfacing or ablative laser sessions. They really can make a huge difference! I tried both yesterday and the part where I had extra scar tissue (on my columella) is completely transformed to normal, and the indented chicken pox scar on my forehead from my childhood is already reduced. A few more sessions should fully do the trick. I live in a small city and am impressed that even here there is a lot of laser technology, so I'm sure you can find a lot of good information and resources as well
kiwimuffin Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 Ah I'm considering alar plasty but I'm so scared to get scar do you think the scar is due to lack of skill or it is perfectly normal to have scarring after alar reduction?
yunggrandpa Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 Idk if you asked me or OP, but I've seen alar plasty results withs scars that are basically invisible and I can only tell they had the procedure because their alars' size got reduced. If I were you, I'd look at various YouTubers who've had the procedure done and judge for yourself the different results, as well as tons of before and afters on PS surgeons' websites (though these can sometimes be photoshopped so be careful). A great result I recently saw was this. That's what her alars look like now. They used to look like this. Of course, there are some devastating results too out there. Just really take your time with this until you come to a decision on your own based on everything you research
limejuixe Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Is it advisable to get alar plasty or avoid it?
yabish69 Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 If your nose is reallyy bulbous then an alar plasty would be needed. However, if your nose isn't too bulbous, the doctor can reduce the bulbous-ness by heightening the tip of the nose so it will give the front face a narrower and more defined nose.
limejuixe Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 not sure if mine is considered bulbous, when i laugh my nose is almost flat and wide
yabish69 Posted November 19, 2019 Posted November 19, 2019 If that is the case, then your nose is probably bulbous!
