freethebird Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Hi everyone, I'm not an influencer or corporation or paid to write any review, just a regular person sharing my thoughts. I had rhinoplasty done at Cocoline Korea approximately 3 months ago and had a really good result so thought I would try to answer anyone's question here if you guys had any. Basically I work in Asia so quite close to Korea so I flew there 2 times for consultations (approx 3-4 days each) and finally made a decision to go with Cocoline and flew there again (3rd time) to get it done there. But in between each trip I used Kakao to speak with the 3 clinics that I had chosen as my top 3. The conversations were super long, and I sent pictures back and forth, I also taught myself some photoshopping skills to try to predict the result that I wanted and I spoke extensively with Cocoline, The Plus, and Migo. I stayed at Dormy Inn for the procedure and 7-10 days of rest. I would have stayed at an airbnb but on my 2nd visit the airbnb I got wasn't that great so I didn't want to risk paying for a long stay and not being able to sleep. Here's a list of places I went in for consultation and what they quoted me (might be helpful for anyone going): I will put stars next to the places I would recommend, for clinics I wouldn't recommend, I'm sorry but no comment My recommendations are PURELY from my own opinion after spending a good chunk of time speaking with doctors and asking questions Hanabi (rhino + alar reduction) = 4,845,000 KRW Namu (rhino + alar) = 4.5m KRW View (rhino + alar + lateral) = 7.5m KRW TOP 3 *The Plus (rhino + alar) = 5m KRW <-- consulted with Dr Jeong, I would have went with him (or Migo) if not for Cocoline Gowoonsasang (rhino) = 3.5m KRW and 800k KRW alar and 1m KRW for lateral Dream = 3m KRW for closed rhino 5m KRW for open rhino RECOMMEND *Kowon = 2.5m KRW rhino + alar reduction <-- very popular locally, as you can tell with the price they are local patient focused (only 1 doctor here sorry forgot his name, very friendly) O&Young (rhino + alar) = 8m KRW TOP 3 *Migo (rhino + alar) = 6.5 - 7m KRW using DCF instead of silicone (if you don't know DCF its diced cartilage and fascia, I would say we use it more in America since its your body's own material but in Korea most places will use silicone) I think it was around 4.2m KRW for silicone. Also I think the doctor's name was Doctor Kang. Gaam (rhino) = 4m KRW TOP 3 Cocoline (rhino + septumplasty (yes my septum inside my nose was deviated a lot haha..) = 6m KRW, I think rhinoplasty was 4 or 5m KRW <-- My surgeon's name was Chris Kim April 31 = 9.5m KRW for silicone, 12m KRW for fascia (With DR KIM) 7.5m KRW for silicone, 10m KRW with fascia (With DR PARK) And yea.. I think there might have been 1 or 2 clinics I forgot to note down.. but this is the gist of it. As you can see the price range can vary.. A LOT.. and the choice of DCF or Silicone or Osteotomy or alar reduction or septumplasty or etc can change the price of your operation by quite a bit. I have some pictures on my phone of before I had surgery and after I had surgery but I would like to photoshop my eyes so I'm not broadcasting myself on the internet.. so when I have time to get those up I will. So why did I choose Cocoline and not The Plus or Migo? To be honest I think a lot of clinics could provide a good result (except a few I had reservations about) but I had access to the doctor directly at Cocoline and this is so so rare at clinics in Korea. Most of the time on Line or Kakao you're speaking with an admin or someone else and they might not give as clear an answer especially for very technical questions. And Chris was willing to speak with me day in and day out over every concern, over every photoshop (non photoshop) picture I sent over and answer to the best of his English ability (which is pretty good) my questions that I had. My conversations with some clinics lasted weeks (if not months) so that was the dedication Chris had as a surgeon and his response showed he was as detailed as can be. So yea.. that was why I chose to go with him and I think it was the right decision. I won't know how the other clinics would have performed but at least for me.. the outcome was really really good, so I'm happy about that. I should also warn you guys, the first few weeks you are going to look at your surgeon and think (omg.. are you sure this will turn out ok?) (what did you do to my nose..) and your face will be like this -_- Well at least for me I was like -_- when my nose was first unbandaged. I was like Chris.. what did you do.. but give it time and it will turn out how you and your surgeon have envisioned it (hopefully haha...) at least I can say with confidence with Chris you will be in safe hands. Anyways.. long post.. if you guys have any questions help post them here and I will try to answer whenever I have time. I do remember seeing other people who visited Cocoline and had positive consultations but I'm not sure I've seen a post where someone actually went with Cocoline for surgery. So hopefully this sheds some light for you guys. 1
rainbowdash15 Posted September 18, 2019 Posted September 18, 2019 Hello, thank you for your long post!! Really enjoyed reading it!’ Glad your surgery went well and you’re happy with it! I would like to know more about kowon!! Can you speak Korean? Or u hired a translator? Do u know if he’s more on the natural side or dolly? I’m looking for a half and half look!! I want a big change but still looking natural! It’s hard to kakao them since they don’t speak English! Hope u can answer my questions!!
freethebird Posted September 19, 2019 Author Posted September 19, 2019 Sure, I didn't hire a translator and yes you're right their English isn't the best. But I was able to speak with the doctor in English and he's one of the doctors who will use photoshop irl to give you an idea of how he would change your nose. Well.. I'm not sure about your case but for mine I was looking for a natural nose but with a bit of changes here and there that wasn't exactly natural. I think if you have some photoshopping skills you could bring a before and after photo to show him. He has the camera and program in his office so either you bring a before and after that you've done yourself or after he makes some changes in photoshop you could try to tell him in certain areas where you want it to be more straight or slimmer or however you want it. I think he would be able to understand what you are trying to achieve. Just know the more specific of an idea of how you would like your outcome the clearer it would be for the doctor to say "yes doable" or "no not my style". Most doctors are able to give you a natural look and I think most will be able to accommodate any specific changes/looks that you are trying to achieve. But yea I would suggest putting Kowon in your list of consultations if you are coming to Korea.
rainbowdash15 Posted September 19, 2019 Posted September 19, 2019 Do you know if he’a Good with des? I’m looking to revise my des!! Just simple make the crease a higher! I know he’s specialized in rhinoplasty! But I’m thinking des is such a common surgery in korea any doctor can do it!! Lol Btw thank you for your reply! I didn’t know the doctor can speak English! At least I don’t need hired a translator during my consultation! Was the clinic busy during the time u went?Do you know approximately what’s their nose revision cost? Mine will be a revision May I know why u choose theplus and migo in your top 3 over Kowon?
freethebird Posted September 20, 2019 Author Posted September 20, 2019 Sure, the doctor does speak English but its not that great. For me I choose ThePlus and Migo as just a personal preference. I think their before/after, what the doctor communicated to me, etc was quite good so I put them in my top 3. Kowon could have been top 3 as well but I'm a person that needs information and details so I can make a decision, it was a bit harder at Kowon with the English ability. Sorry I'm not familiar with the acronyms, what is des? He does speak English.. to a degree, its not fluent by any means but it was enough to get his point across. Yea there were I think at least 5 other people after me, mainly female patients. Revision... I'm not sure but usually revision is more complicated and expensive. If I could recommend 1 clinic for revision.. I would say give ThePlus a try for consultation. From my visit with Dr Jeong it seems he focuses mainly on revision cases which tend to be harder than primary cases. You can give both Kowon and ThePlus a try for consultation and see how you feel about it. Try to be as specific and detailed as possible and prepare questions before hand so you can get an answer from the doctor and not later from an admin.
bobamilktea Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 hi there, thank you for sharing your experience at cocoline. i am also considering it too - but am looking to other places that offer other surgeries as i wanted other surgeries besides rhinoplasty with kowon, how did you contact them? could you please share id contact if you contacted them via kakao? (and did you type in English on kakao if you did)
freethebird Posted September 24, 2019 Author Posted September 24, 2019 http://pf.kakao.com/_yGAxhu Try this link and yes English is fine
rainbowdash15 Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 Hey boba milk kowon specialized in rhinoplasty, he’s the only doctor at the office, if you are doing other surgeries I would consult somewhere else, unless u want him to do your other surgeries lol
freethebird Posted September 25, 2019 Author Posted September 25, 2019 hi boba, in my opinion it’s fine to consult with him for rhino and you can consult elsewhere for other surgeries, no need to do them all in the same place. It’s important to find a doctor you like and many times they won’t be in the same building or same company or same group. Hope all goes well with your search.
bobamilktea Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 Oh damn will continue looking though I’ll see what he says about my nose - thanks for telling me though!
bobamilktea Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 Thank you, yes I’ll keep looking! Just worried about the effects of anesthesia if I do end up going to multiple clinics for my surgeries
rainbowdash15 Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 When are u planning to get your surgeries? What other procedures do u want to do beside rhinoplasty?
bobamilktea Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 sorry for the late reply! i'm planning to get my surgeries in December this year.. thinking of also getting eyes and lipo/LAMS - I think I'd want to get nose+eyes at the same clinic and lipo/LAMS at another clinic
rainbowdash15 Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Hi one last question about Kowon, was it hard to communicate with the consultant when u were there? When she gave u the price etc.. does she speak English?
