dedicateddarling Posted September 24, 2019 Posted September 24, 2019 As title asks: Did any of you experience hair loss after surgery? I know stress on the body from surgery can trigger hair loss for some people and since my hair is currently thin I'm worried for the possibility of it getting worse Any tips to avoid hair loss as well??
christime Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 You can't avoid it. Most people lose hair after general anesthesia because it puts your hair (which grows into stages) into the stage where it falls out. But it will grow back.
wishingstar Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Wow, scary! Does all of your hair get put into this stage or only some?
dedicateddarling Posted October 5, 2019 Author Posted October 5, 2019 This is diffrent for each individual but TE can go as high as 60% of your hair follicles
wishingstar Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 OMG, that's terrifying. I wonder if there's a way to prevent some of it or maybe even put the hair back into the growing stage more quickly afterward.
dedicateddarling Posted October 7, 2019 Author Posted October 7, 2019 I know . There are treatments available at hair loss centres that will allow for hair to be back to the hair growing stage more quickly, buts that's more money. I personally will be taking hair supplements, massaging my head at least 20 minutes per day and be taking extra protein pre and post surgery as a precaution
