My face is super huge, anyone with similar looks gotten zygoma reduction/face contouring?

Recommended Posts

I have an enormous face. It makes me feel really ugly and unfeminine. I'm considering zygoma reduction or some sort of facial contouring. I probably need a chin reduction as well. I just feel like my face is HUGE, especially compared to every other girl with cute tiny faces. My cheekbones are wide from the front, but flat from the side, so I don't really even get any benefits from them (i.e. shapely feminine cheek fullness).

Anyone here have a similar face? I've seen girls with wider cheeks get zygoma reduction, but no one with cheeks as wide as mine. I'm curious how it turned out for y'all. I do have my reservations, and some of the horror stories scared me a bit... But idk what to do. It's a really hard feature to cope with.

Advice is greatly appreciated

Hi, my previous face was bigger and wider than yours although my wide cheekbones did not protrude. I had full facial contouring done 5 months ago to achieve a smaller and slimmer face.

I have to say that zygoma reduction only works on protruding cheekbones but DOES NOT reduce the width. I did it yet I do not see any difference for mine so only get zygoma reduction if you have protruding cheekbones.

However, I am satisfied with my jawline which went from a square jaw to a smooth line.

Most importantly, facial contouring comes with risks, such as nerve damage, unsatisfactory results, double chin and skin sagging. Please consider all the cons and do as much research as you can before making a decision. All the best!

So unfortunately your face type is not the best candidate for facial contouring. The most ideal candidates for facial contouring are those with SMALL FACES but WITH PROTRUDING BONES. Your facial bones protruding but not a lot, its just wide. Therefore your results are limited.

For your zygoma, what is possible is the bone can be pushed in only to where the temple line is. Any reduction beyond that point is not possible.

Your other issue is actually your lower jaw area. You have quite a strong jawline. But from your photos, i suspect if you consult a facial contouring specialist and do the xray and ct scans, they will suggest 2 jaw surgery for you. I am basing this on the shape and position of your chin, which seems to be an overbite. In cases like this surgeons usually wouldn't suggest V line but rather 2 jaw or a combination of both.

Could you post an example of a small face with protruding bones? I have a hard time understand without a picture.

What's the difference between protruding and wide?

Edit: nvm I figured it out

Do you mean like forward protrusion vs. Lateral protrusion? Because yeah the bones seem wide laterally but I'm quite flat in profile view.

So even if I reduced yo the temple line on my head you don't think it's make my difference?

I actually don't have an over bite or under bite, at least ive never been told this by a dentist. I do have quite a shallow labiomental fold, and long chin tho. Also a cross bite, my jaw is a bit crooked.
So would 2 jaw make my jaw look smaller overall? Or just make for a nicer profile? Sorry I haven't researched that one as much.
I'm concerned about sliming my jaw without doing anything tothe upper portion of my face. Cause it's already so wide up top.

Thank you! I appreciate hearing your experiences. That's good to know. I guess I'll need to look into a different surgery to address the width. This whole time I thought zygoma helped with that. Good thing I'm not in any rush to have any surgeries done, the risks definitely do make me pause.

Did you have any issues of loose skin with your contouring? Numbness?

I have no issue of loose skin so far but I'm only 5 months post op and am still recovering. I do have a slight double chin despite having chin liposuction done, which I hope is just swelling.

My chin is still a little numb now but it's getting better as time passes and I don't have any problem with that.

Hope these address your concerns!

I'm 2 months post op after facial contouring ( V line). And I agree with @SLibra that cheekbone reduction only makes difference if you want to get rid of protruding bones, plus there is always a risk of sagging.
I'm not an expert but from what I see from your picture you could get a smaller looking face from jaw reduction. Anyway it's only the surgeon who decides if there is a big amount of bone that can be resected based on your X ray.
Also consider all the risks before getting facial contouring, it's a serious surgery with possible side effects and long recovery, but it also can give you a really positive change. I personally love my V line result, it made a big difference to the facial balance in general and jaw line in particular. I feel much more confident after it.
