ak1990 Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 Hello everyone I’m a 29 year old male, Middle Eastern descent. My eyes are naturally wide and large although I’ve had a lower eyelid surgery to correct secleral show about 7 years back and my eyes have been shortened drastically. I’ve had consults with surgeons in England, France, and the USA, most are not experienced with lateral canthoplasty.. so I’ve decided South Korea is probably the best since they do this procedure routinely. My only issue is it’s difficult to find the best doctor for this procedure in Korea. Wether by your own experience or someone you know, who do you consider to be an expert in Lateral Canthoplasty ?
mazikeen Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 This is the most complex eye surgery procedure and though its popular in Asia, few surgeons are good at it so please be very careful choosing a surgeon. There have been botched surgeries where patients couldn`t close their eyes and horrible scarring. Some clinics that are popular with eye surgeries and you could look into are: Shinseung - Dr. Shin MVP - Dr. Seo Teium - Dr. Kwon Ive Plastic - Dr. Soo Jang Eve Plastic - Dr. Chang I find it best to go in for a personal consultation and also see results on real patients vs pics online coz these clinics heavily photoshop their photos. Good luck. Keep us posted.
ak1990 Posted December 22, 2019 Author Posted December 22, 2019 Thank you Mazikeen ! I know too well just how complicated this procedure is, as a lot of doctors seemed hesitant in performing it and I’ve been to some of the greatest doctors around the world like Dr Claude Le Louarn in Paris and Niall Kirkpatrick in London (he was in the tv show botched up bodies), they all said they could do it but u felt like they just didn’t do it as often as I hoped, which is why I need some exploring to do in Korea. I will def check those doctors out, have you or someone in the forums dealt with any of these doctors personally ?
beachbumcase Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Hi everyone, I’m 33 years old, I have had surgery in Beverly Hills with a famous surgeon, he shortened my eyelids, I didn’t get much luck finding a doctor here who can give me that length back. Any help would be appreciated, I’m thinking of having a lateral canthoplasty, love band surgery, eyelid surgery to fix retraction, and scar revision. I’m not looking for an eyelid doctor, I’m looking for THE eyelid doctor, this is my last shot to having a normal appearance, your advice is very valuable to me.
mazikeen Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 i had DES done at MVP, Dr. Seo and I`m happy with the results. I hear Dr. Soo Jang at IVE is popular with the locals esp. for botched eyes, he is the to go to guy for revisions. This lady recommended him, you could dm her for more details:https://beautyhacker.com/forums/topic/980396-double-eyelid-surgery-consultation-clinics-and-tips/ Dr. Kwon at Teium is known for his magic epicanthoplasty. Has a huge thread here on pf
mazikeen Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Hi. Could you explain this. Can`t imagine what kind of a procedure this is and why did you have it done initially?
ak1990 Posted December 23, 2019 Author Posted December 23, 2019 Mazikeen, I’ve noticed a lot of Beverly Hills problem do this for example someone has retracted eyelids, they would try to fix it but also the eyes become shorter and disproportionate. Worst of all Western docs are clueless to fix it. Let me link you an example: (this is the same doctor who started this issue for me) You might think this is a good result at first, but shortening the eyes this much carried with it a lot more irritation due to the eyelashes hitting the eyeball constantly, also the balance is disrupted (at least in my case and a lot of people I’ve reached out to who have seen Dr Taban). Korea is pretty much my last hope in repairing this issue.
mazikeen Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Ok. Now I see why you need the canthoplasty. Too much skin was removed. I`m amazed you can still close your eyes. My advise is to take a trip to Seoul and visit the clinics. Most of the clinics have kakao or whatsapp so you could send them your pics for initial evaluation before going to consult in person.
ak1990 Posted December 23, 2019 Author Posted December 23, 2019 May I ask if you were in this situation and needed a skin graft or reconstructive surgery, are there any good surgeons who are able to do it ?
mazikeen Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Then I would skip Seoul and look for a Oculofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon like this one:https://www.ohsu.edu/casey-eye-institute/oculofacial-plastic-and-reconstructive-surgeryhttps://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/wilmer/services/oculofacial/ These clinics in Seoul specialize in cosmetic surgery and reconstructive work would be too advanced for them.
ak1990 Posted December 23, 2019 Author Posted December 23, 2019 Thanks for the link I’m not even sure if I need reconstructive surgery, but one French surgeon (he’s a bit old school) said I needed a skin graft for my scar, so I have to worry about that along with making my eyes longer (which is more aesthetic). I’ll just post a pic of my scar here so you can see. Worst case scenario is I fix everything separately by different doctors.
mazikeen Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Nah, no skin graft. Lasers will get rid of the scar.
ak1990 Posted December 23, 2019 Author Posted December 23, 2019 I thought so too at first, but a lot of surgeons seem to push for invasive crap. I was thinking of seeing this doctor in Korea as well, his name is Dr Sang Ju Lee at Starskin clinic. I’m not sure who are the most popular laser docs in Korea, I’ll have to do some research about that as well.
mazikeen Posted December 25, 2019 Posted December 25, 2019 Ok. Never heard of him. Just make sure that he is the only one operating on you. Shadow doctors culture is rampant in Seoul clinics. Usually they let you consult with the top surgeon with top credentials so that they can bump up your surgery fees and then swap surgeons for a less experienced one on the day of surgery. Worst of all is you won`t even know coz they do this after they have administered the GA and you are in lala land.
ak1990 Posted December 25, 2019 Author Posted December 25, 2019 Yeah that’s one thing that worries me, so if they have the camera monitoring option in the hospital do I ask the doctor to remove his surgical mask and look at the camera or something, I’m trying to ask them to do this in the least awkward way possible lol
