joopss Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 hey everyone, I'm looking into info or experiences from anyone who has done rib rhino at Namu and also had an osteotomy. i'm set on using rib and it seems like the other clinics that offer it are either too expensive or very low priced, but i'll be lost in translation with staff giving me that deer in headlights look. and namu seems to fall in between. since they're going be cutting nasal bone I have a high preference my nose surgeon to be experienced in bone surgery or facial contouring as well. this a tip I got from a friend who had revision, so i'm learning from their mistakes. I'm consulting with them in early jan, and so far communications with them are good. anyone else going in before or around that time?
mazikeen Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 I know you are set on using rib but I wouldn`t recommend it for a primary. You`ll regret it. You could start off with septal or ear cartilage and silicone for your bridge. Rib cartilage is normally for used for revisions where there is no septal or ear cartilage left. Is this full rib or rib with ear cartilage? There are mixed reviews on Namu here on PF so please research well b4 choosing them.
jiayuxox Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 I had rhinoplasty revision with namu a few days ago and opted for the ‘barbie nose’ shape. I used an artificial type of bone or something that they recommended instead of rib and ear. May I ask why you are so set on using rib? They are many others to choose from especially if you just want a sharper tip. Ear cartilage will give a more ‘natural’ tip whilst the artificial cartilage that I have chosen creates a sharper one. It should have the same effect as bone, so unless you are one of extremely few people who will have it rejected, I would recommend that instead of creating even more scars
joopss Posted December 27, 2019 Author Posted December 27, 2019 I've been doing a lot of research about the materials for rhino. And I know there's pros and cons for each material to raise the bridge, but I sort of just have a psychological preference for using my own tissue, but willing to change after I go in for face to face consult at Namu. Maybe my organic food preference extends to PS, something about using my own body tissue just sounds appealing I also have a dinged up septum from playing full contact sports during my teen years. So my septal cartilage may be too jacked up, This might be a double whammy to fix function and form. I've been chatting with Claire also at Namu a lot and I feel like I like Dr Min's profile. He's both a plastic surgeon and an ENT. And supposedly did a lot of the before & after models when he worked at Wonjin from what I've been told.http://en.namups.com/document/Medical-staff
misshaxo Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 May I ask why you don't recommend rib? I know you mention that it's normally used for revisions, but wouldn't it be safer to go with your own cartilage and avoid a revision altogether, even if it's 10 years down the line? Just curious as I've been asking many doctors for quotes for rib rhino. Thanks in advance!
