j-cn Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 Does anyone else have the issue of their nose widening when they smile? Has anyone tried using Botox to fix this? Do you know what nasal muscles are targeted? How does it affect your smile/face afterwards? Here are some pictures from Realself of other people with the same issue (I don't have the problem of my tip drooping - just my nose widening when I smile):https://www.realself.com/question/nose-wide-smilehttps://www.realself.com/question/los-angeles-ca-botox-smile-lip-lifthttps://www.realself.com/question/new-york-ny-nose-widens-smiling
fixedsister Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 You can consider alar base reduction aka alarplasty. Botox is only temporary with minor difference but if that's what you are looking for, I think it would be a good choice.
j-cn Posted December 30, 2019 Author Posted December 30, 2019 Thanks for taking the time to reply. I am not interested in alarplasty because I don't have an issue with my nose when my face is at rest. Also, I think alar base reduction doesn't look so great. My main issue is that when I smile, my nose widens. I can accept botox top-ups given it is not that expensive and not permanent like alarplasty is.
goguma123 Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 i have this issue too. i plan on getting botox soon in my nostrils to help this and above my philtrum. when my face is resting, i don't have an issue with my tip drooping, but when i smile it ever so slightly does. im also just getting it there because i think it'll just call for more results! after i get it i'll try to remember to update and post about it here
j-cn Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 Thank you so much for the reply - glad I'm not suffering alone! Have you had any consultations about this already? When will you be getting the injections? I'm wondering whether it is enough to just inject the nostrils. Because when I think about it, it is the muscles in the face that is causing the nose to widen, right? Nostril flare is only a small part of the issue - at least for me. When you do speak to your doctor or get the injections done, could you find out what the name of the areas they are targeting are? Thanks and I hope it goes well!
