kathyrine Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 @Mazikeen how is your smile now after the removal of the rib grafts on your midface augmentation? Is it better now? Can you smile now like normal?
orangeifi Posted January 17, 2020 Author Posted January 17, 2020 I am now 6 weeks post op. My nostrils are even now, but the nose doesnt seem to be straight itself, the shape seems like an ' / ', this doesnt really bother me though. What really bothers me is the lack of ethnic character it had - atleast my natural ethnic character. I really wish my tip was bigger and droopy, and wish he did not rasp down the convexity of my bridge. I'm just glad I didnt do rib rhinoplasty because it'd probably make it more dificult for a different surgeon to perform a revision for my desired changes. LIke you said "it doesnt suit my asian features" - this nose doesn't suit my hispanic features :/, objectively the nose looks fine, but its not made for my face :/
mazikeen Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 This was also the problem I have after my surgery at VIP and even after the revision my bridge is still deviated and nostrils uneven. Dr. Lee`s work is just terrible.
mazikeen Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 @Kathyrine, Yes the rib cartilage that he used for the midface augmentation. Unfortunately he didn`t remove everything as I had requested him to and I still can`t smile properly. My smile is slightly better but not like before. I`m currently looking for a surgeon to redo all his work. Dr. Lee uses the rib graft as a base to build the columnella, that is why he insists on the midface augmentation. Dr. Lee has no sense of esthetic at all; his harmony surgery is ******** and doesn`t suit everyone. He has no idea how to balance and blend the features on the face.
orangeifi Posted January 17, 2020 Author Posted January 17, 2020 Its odd cause he has beautiful recondtructive results with noses that completely collapsed or just scar tissue, but with simple primary augmentations his results are extremely subpar and rely heavily on typically the unneccessary use of rib cartilage. Seriously every surgeon it talk to tells me rib cartilage should be last resort and for reconstruction because its very hard and makes nose feel unnatural. Maybe he relies heavily on rib carrilage making the manuevurs easier for him because hes unable to perform traditional manuevurs skillfully
kathyrine Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 @orangeifi I’m sorry to hear that. But let the swelling go down and heals completely then see if the result meets your expectation. I do have slightly slanted bridge and uneven nostrils, and my tip (columella) looks like a tip of a bird I’m actually looking for a revision specialist. I’m debating whether or not let Dr. Lee fix it again. The other lady I went the same time her nose looks fine. But we’ll see coz we’re almost on our 1 year mark.
kathyrine Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 @Mazikeen no wonder I still feel a lil bit stiff on my columella. I felt like rib cartilage graft doesn’t really compliments and gives the face the aesthetic beauty the way artificial implant does as @k couture mentioned before. Are you planning to do your revision soon? I’m still searching for revision specialist that will address my concerns. I also have slightly slanted bridge and uneven nostrils. Also I think my columella is hanging and doesn’t really compliments my whole facial features
orangeifi Posted January 17, 2020 Author Posted January 17, 2020 I'm going to start sharing my experience on other sites like RealSelf...It sounds like the issues that I encountered are not uncommon with VIP/Dr Lee, yet he only has raving reviews online. I think a lot of people when they don't like their result they are less inclined to post online because they dont want to show off their result, or want to keep on good terms with VIP since they are very helpful and offer revision, but at the end of the day if Dr Lee requires so many revisions on his own work, that is not a good sign... He should just stick to reconstruction not primary/aesthetic rhinoplasties..
kathyrine Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 @Mazikeen what happened to your skin after he took out the rib grafts from your midface augmentation? Does it sagged? Or it look okay? I’m contemplating if I should just have it remove? I could smile but I could still feel that there’s still pressure on the sides of my nose.
mazikeen Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 @Kathyrine no sagging. It looks ok. I`m also looking for a surgeon to do revision asap. They charged me only $1000 for GA when I went for revision.
kathyrine Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 @Mazikeen have you found a doctor yet for revision? Did you inquire at GNG? I’ve heard Dr. Seong is really good. Not sure tho because there’s mixed good/bad reviews
kathyrine Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 @orangeifi wait til you reach 6 mos. because there’s a huge difference compare from what you’re seeing right and in the following months after. I’ve known one girl who also did her nose the same time like me and her nose looks good. She seems confident with her result. Me on the other hand, still having uneven swelling mostly on tip and it’s evidently clear on the nostrils. But I like how Dr. Lee shaped my nose. It’s just I want to reduce the height of my bridge for my aesthetic views as an asian. I just don’t like my uneven tip right now. We’ll see how it will turn out once I reach 1 year mark. Do you have kakaotalk?
kathyrine Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 @Mazikeen you mentioned you have slanted bridge and uneven nostrils right? Because I’m having same issues. So even after the fix? No improvement? How does it look after Dr. Lee fix your concerns? And after he remove the cartilage grafts from your midface augmentation? How does your nose looks like? Does it look like wide since the removal of the grafts from the midface augmentation? Because from what I’ve seen on their ads about midface it supposed to help your nose looking like pointy right?
mazikeen Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 @Kathryrine Not much of an improvement after the revision. I have no idea what Dr. Lee supposedly improved during the revision. The deviation is worse after the revision, I have problems breathing. I sent them pics of the uneven nostrils but they claim it is just swelling but there is no swelling anymore. He only partially removed the grafts although I told him to remove it completely so I still can`t smile. My nose wasn`t affected when he removed the cartilage. The midface is supposed to lift the sunken midface but the results are unnatural. I don`t think it helped to make my tip pointy, my tip looks bulky and like a bird`s beak. Horrible results.
mazikeen Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 I had gng on my bucketlist but crossed them out coz there are too many bad reviews. I know Dr. Seong is good but they use shadow doctors at gng. So you will probably have consultation with Dr Seong, pay the high price and on the day of the surgery they swap him for a less experienced doctor. Avoid gng. I`m looking for plastic surgeons who do specialise in reconstruction to do my revision. I`m researching hospitals because I think surgeons there will have more experience than cosmetic surgeons.
