bisousx Posted May 16, 2011 Share Posted May 16, 2011 Has anyone had experience with lower eyelid fat transfer? Is this different from lower eyelid blepharoplasty? I look tired often but my eye bags aren't severely puffy. If there's a high risk that the shape of my eyes might change or I could look catlike (like how Kim Kardashian's face changed..), then I'll just wait til I'm older.. The law is kinda strange in korea, where a regular doctor can open a plastic surgery clinic without being board certified. Even if someone is a regular family practitioner, he is allowed to open a plastic clinic. It does matter if your doctor is a board certified surgeon or not. Board certification means that the surgeon has completed a training that has been approved by the standard of the country's medical board. After that being said, I by no means is trying to judge his skills as a surgeon when I make this statement. He actually did a good job on your nose. I am looking for a specialist in Eyelid surgery, someone who is capable of making the eyes look natural and pretty. I've heard about these clinics: Banobagi Dream Bkdy Realcosmetics Has anyone of you been there or does anyone have plans to go there? It would be great to hear some reviews about these clinics. I'd be happy also to get some other recommendations from you, since I don't know much about this topic. Again these are my concerns, and I would be very happy to hear any opinion from you: 1. Which clinic/ doctor should I chose for eyelid surgery? Any specialist on this field? 2. Anyone planning on goingto Seoul in July 2011? 3. I went to BKDY , i admit i did not really compare with other korea clinics. I choose Dr Kim because i thought he had many media interviews, with a 15 storey high storey > To me, it means, hmm well known, should not be that bad. I comfort myself by saying, there is always sucessful and unsuccessful operation, whether or not, i must undergo before i will know how is the result. So in short, it is a gamble. I choose to gamble. oh yes, i choose korea because i thought they are so experience in plastic surgery, so skills must be better, espeically for asian.3. Looking for a good place to stay, sth decent and not too expensive, since I'd like to stay a couple of weeks You might want to consider seoul back packers, just across myeong dong area, they have private rooms instead of bunk type. But please note, no life access, got to climb.... but not a problem if you are staying 2 - 3 storey. 3. Is it too short-term to make appointments for July 2011? single_double Posted May 24, 2011 Share Posted May 24, 2011 How my surgery went: Initally, the email fr the Dr Kim to me was " it may cost USD 3000 for eye surgery including epi + lateral cantho ", and he quoted me because i have met up with him during his visit in singapore. But when i was there, the staff told me it add up to USD 4200, i show her the email, but she insist have to add up to 4200. no point arguing since i MUST do it by that day. I paid in full but of course, not very happy initially. She quote me before i met the Dr , so the "clause" the price will be fixed when the doctor see you in person is not valid to me. Did the surgery, i forgot how long it takes, but should be 1.5 hours to 2 hours including resting in a room after operation. before going back to hotel, i collected my medicine and paid in korean won (apprx another USD 80) Did not feel any pain, just tired after the sedation. I thought i will feel the pain the next day, but as usual, my wonderful pain tolerance is so high that throughout the 8 days , not painful at all, unless i close my eye tightly, but overall, only the discomfort from swelling is bearable to me. Remove stitch on the 7th day, the nurse remove it for me. And the most surprising part is, doctor did not even bother seeing me.. Ok, i need to elaborate my feelings : Paid so much but yet, feel not important as a patient. Are korean doctors like this ? Or maybe i did eye surgery only and did not do as many procedures in order to "gain access" to the doctor. The only reason, why i did not really bother / or make a fuss , insisted to see the doctor is because the eyes are healing good, no really terrible infection except for the one eye which tends to have infection at the corner. But with such swell persisting, i cannot rule out that operation is not a success one. But even if it fails, i am not in time to do revision or whatever, so i just live with it till maybe a few months. But i got to admit, the results really makes my eyes bigger compare to the past. That is the reason why i am notdemanding at that point of time. Lastly, i conclude, the non incision stitch by Dr kim is good. Mine is natural because my friends, family and colleague say it is natural and does not look fake. I feel better because it proves that my usd 4200 is well spent. Right now I'm looking at Dr. Cho from Bandoeye, Dr. Kang from IOU and Dr. Kwon from Teuimps. Just wondering why did you choose Dr. Kang? What do you think of the other two doctors? seen Posted May 26, 2011 Share Posted May 26, 2011 Dr. Cho from Bandoeye - He is a very well known surgeon in Korea. He is an eyelid revision specialist. I didn't choose him because I've seen some bad reviews about him. Most of clinics will have a bad review here and there but I saw one too many so I didn't go to him. Dr. Kwon from Teuimps - I think his skills are fairly good. But, he is one of those doctors that only does one particular style of crease. He recommends doing epicanthoplasty and in-out fold crease to everyone from what I can tell. I definitely didn't need an epicanthoplasty but he still recommended it without even really observing my eyes. If you like his style of crease and want to get an epicanthoplasty, he would be an okay pick. Dr. Kang from IOU - An eyelid revision specialist and easily one of the top skilled surgeons in Korea. He is fairly young and his clinic has been opened for only 2 years yet it is always crowded. Dr. Kang likes natural looking creases and is more on the conservative side. He doesn't have one particular style he likes, he will cater to exactly what the patient wants. He is very accommodating to the patient's needs and wants. For me, I got exactly what I asked for with every detail that I pointed out to him. His prices are higher than majority of clinics but it was worth it for me. I'm happy that I went to him. I chose him because he consistently put up before/after pictures that I was impressed with. Plus, after my extensive research, I didn't run into one bad review about him. I can't read Korean unfortunately I would like a high/radical eyelid done and from what you described he seems ideal if he does follow what the patient wants.
