Asian eyelid surgery

First of all, can I ask you why you feel tthat women should NOT do it?

Most times Western media turns on surgeries like blepharoplasty and label it "Westernification", accusing asian women of using this surgery of to change their ethnicity. Personally I feel that the minority who use the surgery in this way are misguided, but they don't necessarily represent the entire pro-surgery population.

Rather, most girls do this to achieve a more aesthetically pleasing eye shape and size. A certain percentage of the asian population will be naturally born with eyelid creases, which make their eyes look larger and more alert. If you look closely at a typical caucasian and post-op asian eye you should be able to notice that they are not at all alike. In the past, some doctors have tried to mimic the caucasian 'look' in asian blepharoplasty patients (sometmes you see such surgery results in older asian women). However, many such patients opted for revisional surgery because they didn't like the results. They apparently didn't like the caucasian 'look' as much as Tyra or Maury claim.

You may argue that the surgery's aim is to make the asian eye look 'more' like the caucasian eye, but again a portion of the population has the crease and if anything it is more to mimic asian standards of beauty than caucasian.

Also...and people might disagree vehemently with me, but does not this whole "oh my god you want to do the surgery to look like us caucasians" reek of race-centrism...LOL?

ANyways...my two cents. I'd totally welcome other points of view and the chance to have an intelligent, challenging debate on this topic. Thanks!

Hi All,

Just to share my picture on my double eyelid surgery after 3 months by Dr Kim in BK Dongyang Clinic in Korea.

The Surgery I did was insicion method by cutting slightly higher then my previous double eyelid crease, remove fats to reduce my puffy eyes and some correction on my eyelid muscles.

Hope these picture which I share can be helpful for those who will be going to enhance their eyes with the same problem like me and understand more how the result will turn out to be;)

Hi! I'm new to this thread and I had a few questions that I hope you all can help me with.

I had eye surgery done in my left eye to correct ptosis after a blow to my eye socket from playing sports in high school. It's identical to the double eyelid surgery.

It was a relatively painless procedure for me, and I was really happy that I looked normal again, but now my eye is drooping a little. Is this normal? I had the surgery about 5 yrs ago. It's not as bad as it was before I got the surgery, but it definitely looks like my eyes aren't symetrical anymore.

If I were to get it corrected, would it be considered cosmetic or corrective surgery? My last surgery was covered completely because it was for a health reason. How much (roughly) would it cost to get one eye done in the states?

Hi all,

Here are some before & after surgery pictures Contributed from the March PS Group Trip Gals.
They would like to share with forumers here who have similar problem on their eyes which going for Double Eyelid Surgery :flowers:

These 2 sisters who have been trouble with their Droppy Eyes problem and had been researching about 2 years on Double Eyelids Surgery before they decide to fly to BK Dongyang Plastic Surgery Clinic and have their surgeries done by Dr Kim.

For Droopy Eyes to have Double Eyelid Surgery, it needs more than 1 procedure to archive a nice result.

What Dr Kim had perform on both of them :

Full Incision Method ~ to create a double eyelid fold (about 4-5mm)
Levator Muscle Surgery ~ to correct the droopy eyes
Magic Epicanthoplasty ~ to release the Mongolian fold & also helps to pull the distance closer between eyes

hey all,
just inquiring about the epi procedure... what do they actually do? just cut the corners of your eyes? I think there is medial for your inner eyes and lateral for your outter. I think the lateral epi would be right for me, but I'm still waiting on replies from some PS's.. Does anyone know the cost of this procedure at all? I would like my eyes HUGE, like dawn yangs. she has gorgeous big eyes!

those are my eyes

any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

You eyes are pretty & seem to already have a double eyelid, are you planning on getting eyelid surgery or just the epi or lateral epi? Medial epi cuts the inner flap of skin so it opens up your eyes. Honestly, I don't think you need epi, maybe just eyelid surgery to even out your eyelid size

I do have eyelids, but I want my eyes BIG. I was thinking lateral canthotomy and perhaps the epicanthoplasty as well since my eyes are too round. I think it would look better on my face as a whole to lengthen outwards rather than inwards. I've emailed some PS's about it, but I'm not really sure who are the more reknown and skilled doctors for this job?

Thanks for your reply

Here’s another before & after surgery pictures Contributed from the March PS Group Trip Guy.
His procedure is Revisional Double Eyelid Surgery.

List of procedures he had done before he goes to Dr Kim:
~ Suture Method done in June 2005
(which last only for 4 months and RIGHT side begin to lose the fold)
~ Redo again with Incision Method in September 2007
(but again Left side begin to lose the fold)

He could feel abit of discomfort when he opened his left eyes, because the surgery done in Singapore left stitches in his eyelids. Moreover, due to the inexperience of the doctor, it left him with asymmetrical eyes.
With much research, he finally made his decision and entrusted his revisional surgery to Dr Kim, who is a specialist in Revisional Cases of Eyelids. Now, with the stitches removed, he has no difficulties opening his left eyes. and he is a more confident person.

What Dr Kim had perform on him :

Full Incision Method ~ to remove stitches left behind from the previous surgery and correct the Asymmetrical Fold and Scar.

Here’s the Before & After Pictures;)
