best plastic surgery clinics in Korea

Recommended Posts

Hi Shane77 - would you mind emailing me your B&A pictures to [email protected]? When was you after picture taken? I wanted to get an idea of the degree of swelling. I'd like to get mandible reduction and rhino at ID later on this year. Is Dr. Gim the specialist for rhino? What kind of implant does he prefer? I'm leaning toward gore-tex, but it seems that most korean doctors tend to recommend silicone over gore-tex. Have you seen any real patients who had their noses done at ID while you were at the clinic? Did they look natural? Thank you!

Hey guys, day 5 post op update. Feeling much better today, I have finally got a hold of the jet lag and can sleep in blocks of 4 hours before waking with super dry throat or too much phlegm build up. I am on hot packs now, cold packs is only for 4 days, they are really relieving on my balloon face. The swelling is going down very slowly. If you bounce up and down by slightly bending your knees it makes your face bounce lightly and it feels good I think it does help with draining the fluid, this is a good alternative to walking if you are not strong enough to go for walks which you are suppose to do at least 3-4 hours per day if you have swelling.

The pain is better too, wish the tablets they gave me are a bit smaller, my throat is still swollen from the tube they put down your throat so hard to swallow them. My lower front teeth are mega sensitive and wearing the elastic headband is my least favourite time of the day.

I can see bruising today not noticed them till now maybe they are now darker, it's that mustard yellow colour not black and blue.

Went for my first check up yesterday and I must say ID aftercare is superb. I went to a face clinic they gently massage your face to reduce swelling and help draining, it felt like 40 minutes of heaven you also get heat therapy. I also had my mouth stitches checked, all good and I can use a baby toothbrush gently. My rhino stitches and lateral epi stitches were also cleaned. Next check up and facial this Friday, also all the packing on and in my nose will be removed so this will be the first time I will see my nose, how exciting!

I was stirring my instant corn soup made with hot kettle water when a little bit splashed right in my lateral epi stitches, OMG serious pain, that will teach me to slow down my stirring!

I chickened out washing my hair it's been 5 days but will do it today i look like a tramp lol so scared to infect any wound.

It's sunny here about 28 degrees, it's nice early evenings when it cools down. You guys coming in next few weeks be prepared for the heat especially if you are coming from a cooler country. Most young girls here wear very short shorts, this is the fashion, for guys it's jeans t shirts.

I cant remember if i said before but make sure you pack 2 mirrors a small compact one and a larger hand mirror you will want to look at yourself a lot and helps a lot if you have jaw surgery, you can't help but drool. Bring button up clothes not round collar tops that may catch your face.

Do your homework in the area you are staying, try stay near the clinics if possible. There's a huge choice from luxury 5 star to cheap motels all are safe.

Not many replies from you guys so not sure if I am helping, as before let me know if you have any questions, I will try my best to answer them.

Off for a protein shake now.

Laters.

Hello!
I'm planning to go to Korea sometime in September for a nose job... From what I read on this forum, I'm thinking of seeking a consultation from Banobagi and Jewelry... Is anyone else planning a trip around the same time? I'd love to split costs and share the experience!
I haven't booked my tickets yet so I'm pretty flexible.

Hi HongKongpooey,

Of course its helping!! It is in such great details and well written. Look forward to your next posting.
Wishing you the best of results!!

Hi Shane77,
I really appreciate you and HongKongpooey's sharing on the tube removal. I am going to ask for local anaesthesia first and if they can't provide, I will drop the face contouring plan.

I am planning to leave around mid July!! Can't wait.

I would pm you but it won't let me... I'm interested! What are you thinking of getting? If I can find a surgeon I feel comfortable with, I'm planning on getting rhinoplasty. Oh, and I'm Korean-American, so I can command some Korean. LOL

I don't want to seem like i am promoting dr park of ID and dr shin of BK All the time. But the fact is there 2 seem like the only logical for me. I have personally witness dr kim attitude toward his patient. You get a real feel sense of coakiness and ego from him. I apologize to those who felt other wise. If you planning for facial contouring at BK... Please for your own sake, talk to dr shin instead of kim, regardless what the consultant at BK suggest. The consultant may tell you that only dr kim is specialize in facial contouring and i'll tell you right now that its a bunch of bull. I was with a friend who i recommended to consult with dr shin after consulting with dr kim and we both agree that dr shin know more about facial contouring than dr kim. The very least he took the time to explain to you what is wrong with your face and suggest approach to fix it. He never push or insist that you should do exactly what he suggested. The choice is always yours to make. Here is a little tidbit that not many people mayknow about. Dr shin and dr park went to the same school to learn their craft for over 10 years.

Dr gim is thr specialist in rhino at ID. But its extremely difficult to scedule a surgery date with him. I had originally plan to have my nose revision done this trip at ID with dr gim. But his scedule were all book up for this month. So i will do it in august when i come back to korea. Usually surgeon in korea prefer silicone for the bridge with the exception of dr shim who prefer dermis which is freaking expensive. Dr shin suggest dermis for my bridge and the cost would run up to over USD 5000. I'm really concern about the price just the stability of dermis for used of the bridge. I might consider asking dr shin to change the implant material for my bridge to silicone. As much as i like dr gim of ID, if given the choice, i would still choose dr shin to have my revision rhino. I did see a few girl who have had their nose done at ID and there all look very good. I only got a quick glimpe of their nose but it still look pretty good. I guess i would know once hong kong phooey had her splint removed this friday.

Be very careful when choosing jewelry for your nose. Rhino is a semi major procedure which required a loto of pre and post op care to ensure nothing bad goes wrong. I would choose bano over jewelry on the bases that jewewlry post op is sorely lacked. Had my friend had his revision rhino done at jewelry in april and needed to be removed due to infection. Jewelry is cost effective compare to other clinic and haven't heard of any problem from those who had fat graft there in april. So make sure you choose wisely for your own sake. If bano and jewelry is your only choice then go with bano.

Yes the grand reveal of my nose is Friday I will let you all know what I think. So long as I like it this is all that matters. I think Dr Gim knows his stuff alright but know your limitations. For instance if you are Asian the chances are you have thick skin, if you are western you will have thinner skin. I wanted a nose similar to Megan Fox but with a bit more curve on the bridge so I took 4 photos of her in different angles and photoshopped the curve, I showed Dr Gim he said the nose will suit me but it won't be identical as I am Chinese. Best way to explain this is if you took a triangle and covered it in silk fabric it would still look the same with sharp edges but if you wrapped it in leather, the edges become smoother less defined.* I highly recommend you come with pictures of the type of nose you like with front and side angles to show the docs.

I chose silicone again, my first rhino was also silicone and it gave me no problems for over 20 years so I know my body accepts silicone as a foreign object and I want this to be my last nose job, silicone won't warp or shrink, this is just my choice, there are more and more choices every year like med pore is new.

Do you mean Dr. Kim June Sung at ID? I was VERY close to going to ID for my V-line, revision tip rhino, and fat graft. Dr. Kim was going to be my rhino and fat graft doctor. I really liked what he told me he would do with my nose as we seemed to see eye to eye on aesthetics, but ultimately, some discrepancy over what he and the consultant told me about the fat grafting made me question their honesty so I decided to go with Banobagi. Also, I had read some negative reviews about ID which had already turned me off to ID prior to going to Korea. However, I have to admit when I went to the consultation at ID, I felt pretty comfortable there, other than the aforementioned discrepancy of info. Anyhow, I hope I made the right choice to go to Banobagi. Only time will tell, when I can see my final results. I think I would have been fine at ID too. The doctors there are clearly very experienced.

There is always going to be discrepancy between consultant and surgeon. Thats why the consultant still direct you to see the surgeon after you had the initial consultation with them. My advice is don't take in too much of the consultant advice and just hear what the surgeon has to say. When I was providing advice about my friend eyelid surgery, I suggested many of the same things that the surgeon also suggested, but I told her it's best to talk to the surgeon and listen to what they have to say. When I was there in banobagi in April, i too was pretty determine to have my 2 jaws done at Bano. But it's the little things that the consultants did which turn me off. Nothing against dr og of Bano. I probably would have done it at Bano if I didn't had to go through the consultant in the first place. I sincerely wish you the best of luck in your recovery and result.

Hey thanks, you too! I actually found the consultant at ID to be much nicer than the one at Banobagi. The one at Banobagi was a lot pushier and arrogant. The consultant at ID seemed very sweet. What happened was that the consultant at ID told me ID hospital does not do stem cell fat grafting because there is no difference between regular fat grafting vs stem cell fat grafting. She told me that with confidence. However, when I met with Dr. Kim, I asked him if he is going to use stem cell fat grafting and he answered yes. Some warning bells went off at that moment. Fat grafting was actually the procedure I needed the most, so I really wanted them to do it right, which is a big reason I ended up going to Banobagi.
