I just found out from my doctor today that I have a problem with my nose. I have a Deviated Septum. I have never thought of getting a rhinoplasty but since I might need a septoplasty to correct my problem, I figured I can get rhinoplasty at the same time. I'm already heading to Seoul in Nov for lipo. I've searched this forum for recommendations for a septoplasty + rhinoplasty but didn't find much info. Has anyone done both procedures? Any clinics/doctors recommendations? Thank you!

Rhinoplasty @ VIP?

I want to get my primary rhino this December in Seoul, Korea. I want to have rib cartilage graft rhino because I don't want a revision in the future, just one time and be done with it. Can rib rhino last for a lifetime? I have contacted Dr.Jung and VIP. Dr. Jung's price is 7K for primary and VIP is 11K + 3K for paranasal aug. Why such a difference in price?

Which doctor would you recommend for me?

She's the one who told me that lots of Korean locals prefer regular doctors, not the directors..

Tell me that girl! I'm missing Seoul too - the food, shopping and the plastic Barbies n Ken's on the streets!

I read from her business card "Regine". She's too busy and I never have the chance to talk to her again during my follow-up visits. But she is real patient and knowledgable in her profession.

Hows the tip? Still swelling (rem NO SEAFOOD)?

Me too, I only speak English and Chinese and had never been to Korea before that's why I hired a translator with plastic surgery and local knowledge. She booked all my 3 consultations of my choice of clinics and also booked my hotel close to the clinic.

As you have such little knowledge I don't think you've read many pages in this forum. If you read the last 3-4 months postings you will learn more than you could imagine and probably not have many questions after, so please put in some research it is very important you do this as surgery is a life changing decision.

I have stubborn slow healing rate but my nose only bled on the 1st day. Were u on any other medication/supplement before surgery? If u did, the med could have thinned your blood thus the bleeding.

There is a bottled pumpkin juice that has herbal content ("face"..?) which could aid deswelling more efficiently. I last saw the bottled juice in a pharmacy next to BK hospital but I believe all pharmacies stock them.

Anyway, your bleeding "episodes"' reminded me of my first days from my surgeries. Its been 26 days n counting....

If you are having any surgery that will restrict mouth movement then I would recommend you bring the following with you:

1) Protein & Carbohydrate Powder, buy two flavours ie; chocolate and strawberry otherwise it becomes a bit boring. Buy these from health stores I bought a large 2kg tub, they are the sort body builders drink as an alternative to food. You just need to mix with water and drink it like a milkshake. Make sure you bring a plastic drinks bottle with a large top so you can shake the mixture, similar to bicycle drinks bottles. If you don't buy anything else buy this, it was my lifesaver, without it I would have lost more than 10lbs in two weeks. This will keep your hunger pangs at bay, two mug fulls and you will feel like you've had a good dinner.

2) Powdered soup, the sort you make in a mug with hot water. Be careful to not buy any with bits in, like croutons as these will get stuck under your stitches and are not easy to rinse out and could cause infection.

3) Juices, especially pineapple juice, again with no bits in it. Pineapple has an enzyme that aids recovery more than orange juice. If you can't get a hold of pineapple go for Mango juice, it does not have the enzyme but it does hold more vitamin c per mouth full than orange juice and vitamin c also aids recovery.

4) Pumpkin juice. This is free if you have surgery with ID Hospital, otherwise you will need to buy it from pharmacies, not many food marts stock it.

Do NOT drink milk at least two weeks before surgery, milk produces phlegm and mucus and will restrict your breathing even further, take it from me, you will struggle to breathe for the first few days.

Do NOT eat any seafood for 2 weeks before surgery and 4 weeks after surgery. Seafood can cause infection.

Do NOT drink any alcohol or smoke at least one week before surgery and 4 weeks after surgery, this will slow down your recovery time considerably and you don't want to be flying home with stitches still in your mouth because you haven't healed sufficiently for them to be removed on day 14.

Do NOT have oatmeal until your stitches are removed you will get bits trapped in your mouth wounds and will be very difficult to rinse out.

Noodles are fine so long as you swallow straight down. I had noodles from day 7 onwards but I had to eat them very carefully and slowly. Same with bananas, ensure they are really ripe and soft then squidge them between your tongue and palette to swallow.

Surprisingly for the first few days you don't feel hunger at all but you will be very thirsty as your body is wanting to rid the general anaesthetic in your system.

Hey ya, but my nose bleed on the 4th day post op and it wasnot bleeding at all after the surgery. I was really freak out then i requested to see the doctor and he reassured me its due to weather. So im kinda calmer now. Thanks for sharing. How u doing with the healing?

I can't remember from the top of head. I followed the progressions from every user who said they would go to korea to get their PS. (Shane, kain, kkim, London chick hongkongpooey, dan4me, angel82... To clarify this is all from what I read, but I have yet gotten my surgery.... Yet.

I found out, a lot of clinics cannot be trusted, the scams of potential clinic promotiing their clinic through this thread and others, so BEWARE, always read between the lines cause a lot of forummers dont want to throw out names. Although sources might be reliable but after reading a few posts... I had a lot of concerns. To an extent, I question why these names keep reoccurring. different clinic specializes in different procedures, you MUST do a lot of research and make sure you talk to the dr(s) who deals with these types of areas. The Before and aftercare when you're done with your surgery (@hkp wrote a whole list that I thought was quite useful) make sure you have a few clinics in mind but not too much that you might get overwhelmed and confused. And MOST of all.. Something important to me. If you think or feel that u are alone in this, YOU ARE NOT. A lot of the users on here will reach out and give you advices. With that said, again it's up to u to determine their sincerity and truthfulness. I've NEVER participated in a forum where everyone are so helpful, or even go out of their way to explain to u in greater details of every PS. Giving mad shout outs to @dan4me who probably sent out hundreds of before and after picture of everyone who asked. It just shows a the beauty inside and out of some people if the talke the time out to acknowledge your concerns. If u had read all 600pages.. I know u can pick out a handful of these helpful people without hesitation.

I GREATLY appreciate those who took their time to write into this forum. Because for sure it helped me decide where I want to consult in korea and what I need to prepare mysel for. Also when you're busy reading all these good reviews. DO NOT NEGLECT all the ones thr have posted about their unhappy results. Pay a little more attention cause these reviews are so crucial and will help you eliminate whatever clinics u were iffy about.

Again, when I do go to korea sometime next year, even though its a far from now, I will for sure give back to this forum. As it had give me reassurance to my doubts and confirmation on the clinics I've looked into.

Tooney, its my first day back at work, except for those that knew of the surgery no one else came up to ask if i had anything done to my eyes. Maybe because i am wearing glasses to camouflage them. I showed my eyes to a few of my colleagues and all said left eye is bigger than the right one and to make me feel better they said no one has totally symmetrical eyes...not real comfort but i hope its because the swelling has not completely gone down. i also feel the corner was not cut wide enough? am i just worrying too much?

Have stopped the cold and hot compress, coz not feeling any effect at all. Dunno how else to make the swelling go down quicker, the ointment that the nurse gave me after stitch removal made my eyes itch so much i had to wipe it off my eyes. See my pic on day 13 and let me know what you think. the left eye can open wider than the right one....i should be grateful that overall there is great improvement and dr kwon did a great job and he is not god but still i am so worried :cry:

Hi fallenangel.. the fact that nobody (that didn't know your surgery) came up to you and asked, means that your eyes look natural. That's good to begin with
Second of all, you look fabulous dear, I would trade mine with yours hehe.. no scarring, no redness, a hint of redness just below the eyebrow but thats nothing... though I can see some swelling but it's only been 13days.. you will see great improvement in 1 mo-post op.
Magic can happen overnight I believe the corner curves can rise up when the swelling subsides. It happened to me overnight
For the asymmetry, yes, I can see that. I think you should wait until 2mo-post op till the swelling is all gone. If there's still too big a difference between the left and right eye, you might wanna get dr Kwon's response to that.
In the mean time, you can do a lot of walking to help reducing the swelling.
You did the right thing about the ointment. You feel itch because you are allergic to the substance in that ointment. If you think you develop hypertrophic, you could try Kelo-cote. Caution: don't apply it where it would have a direct contact with the eyes.
