asian nose job 2

Where in your head was the cartilage taken out? Do you know the name of the cartilage? This is so fascinating. Is the cartilage prone to resorption, warping, or migration like rib cartilage? Before the surgery, what kind of nose did you have?

I am curious about how one looks if the tip with cartilage is left behind but only the bridge implant is removed. Anyone gone through that, please? Thank you!

Thanks for the link - does your doctor speak English? How do you get appointment with him, by phone?

Hi Izora,

My nose was flat and i had extremely flared nostrils, it was not an easy job. The cartilage was taken from my back of my right ear and head, if i had enough from my ear this would have been enough...

There is resorption but I didn't want my nose to be too high as it was so flat before i didn't want to look too different!

Yes I know Joanne really well and i agree VIP is expensive that is because they are the best and you get door to door service, i went to other clinics in Seoul before VIP and they were like factory surgeries and no one spoke English. Joanne is great her English is perfect and she is not pushy at all.

Do you have a budget you can spend? Maybe I can help talk to Joanne and get you a better price? She initially quoted me US10,000 but for this I also had liposuction, and fat grafting on chin and forehead.

The Dr is the best for revision cases, my nose was complicated and i am so happy with it.

Let me know if you want more details I am happy to talk to you.

Your post really piqued my interest, so I called VIP earlier to speak with Joann- it's her day off so I sent her an email instead. You know what's weird? The girl I spoke with on the phone today told me that revision rhinoplasty using rib cartilage is 8,000,000, which is a lot cheaper than what Joann quoted me. I really don't like it when clinics quote prices in U.S. dollar.

What did you think of Dr. Lee's work when you reviewed his before/after photos? I can't access the photo gallery on the Korean website, but the few before/after photos that is on the English website is not really my style. I prefer O & Young's style where the results are extremely dramatic, but I'm keeping all of my options open. Perhaps the patients requested those types of noses. Did you get to choose a style of nose, or did you leave it up to Dr. Lee? I'll send you a PM!

You can email me at [email protected]

I have to be honest and say that everyone is different and I didn't go by any doctors before and after because anyone can touch up a picture!! Also most doctors will post up pictures of their best work so I did not trust the pictures. What was more important for me is the care and individual case analysis the Doctor and Joanne (the clinic manager) gave me.

Is this the quote in Korean Won? There are fluctuations in currency exchange and I think the reason why they give you quote in USD is because they need to really take more care with foreign patients i.e arrange pick up hotel and more after care. I stayed in Seoul for 3weeks and they put me in an offictel, i saved so much money on accommodation! Unless you are staying with relative or friends you need to pay for your hotel as well.

Happy to let you know more.

Verity1975,

I can't seem to send you a private message. I'll try to send you one as soon as you can receive them.

Yes, I would absolutely appreciate your help. I think $10,000 is a great price for all the procedures you had. I also want to get eyelid surgery and fillers. I didn't want to spend more than $5,000 to $6,000 on my nose, but I'm flexible if it's the right doctor. I've found other nose specialists that are a lot cheaper than VIP, but I really don't have the time to have too many consultations because I need to take pre-operative tests. Most importantly, I have to agree with the doctor's aesthetic style.

hey izora,

just an fy - i was just reading the posts by verity1975 and she last said to that "You can email me at [email protected]" to ask her more information on her nose job at VIP clinic

but in an earlier post, she also wrote "If you would like more information on the VIP Clinic email [email protected] she can introduce you to the surgery and make arrangements from the moment you get off the plane in Seoul! "

...why is she talking in 1st person, then 2nd? sounds fishy to me...unless she works for VIP and also got her surgery from there...therefore making it a biased opinion

Wow I didn't realise that by offering my opinion to this forum I would get scrutinised like this!!!

I did in fact get my surgery from VIP clinic and I have visited many other clinics in Seoul to get a consultation before my surgery, I live in Hong Kong and I went to Seoul 2 times before I decided on which surgeon. I went with VIP because the service they offered me was excellent and i am very happy with the result the Dr also has many qualifications.

The bottom line is, if any of you girls are going for any type of surgery DO YOUR research speak to as many people to get their opinion but at the end of the day it is up to you!! Also make sure the Dr and surgery will offer you after service support too. No one in this world can or should influence your decision I completely understand that my writing above may sound like I work for VIP and to be honest if they did offer me a job to help them promote their services I would, they are not only a great clinic and not out to get every penny you have... if only you guys knew the work the Dr does. He has done so many re-vision cases where people from all over the world has gone to him because their nose-jobs have gone wrong!

I'm sorry to have confused everyone by putting myself as a second person of course it should read "I can introduce" as I want anyone who goes to vip to get a good deal. If this has caused suspicion I can understand...

Good luck to you all who are going to Seoul for surgery ...

Yeh, i thought this seemed a little suspicious as well. By the way Izora, the technique the VIP "patient" is talking about uses something from your head called fascia. It's this layer that you use to wrap the cartilage from your ear. They get your ear cartilage and smash it into little piece then use the fascia from your head and use it as a graft instead of an implant. I don't think many patients have used this technique but i've read about before. When are you heading to seoul?

I've actually heard of this technique, but I didn't know that doctors in Korea used it. I wonder why more doctors don't use it? VIP clinic told me that using rib cartilage is the only option for me...

I'm going to Korea at the end of August.

Yeh i know Samsung Aesthetic uses it, it's on their site but since this technique sounds pretty new i wouldn't dare try it. How come rib is the only option for you? What do they mean by waiting a week after they get your rib out at O& Young? Like you go there take a bit of your rib out, wait a week then have your actual operation? Because don't Dr's usually carve it on the spot anyway

VIP told me that other cartilages would not be enough for me and that using rib would be the best. I'm not sure how the doctor can tell by just looking at my picture. I don't have a wide nose, but it is short and contracted because of the negative effect of silicone.

About O & Young... let me clarify what I said. The clinic refuses to schedule a surgery date ahead of time. I explained to the girl that I would like to have surgery the day after consultation, but she said that I must do a consultation first before the surgery date can be reserved. She said that it could take up to a week until I can have surgery. This doesn't work for me because I only have 2 weeks, and I want to maximize my time.

I'm going to call them back in late June and explain to them that I will be traveling to Seoul specifically for nose surgery. I will kindly ask them to please reserve a surgery date for me ahead of time. If I am absolutely certain that O & Young is the clinic for me, then I will even offer to put down a deposit. From all the pictures I've seen and reviews I've read on independent websites, it seems like a good clinic. I just hope that they're accommodating...I'll keep you posted.
