how are you guys paying for surgery?

i don't have a credit card but i think i can get my dad to get another card under my name (but still as part of his account) or i can just get a credit card

but i'm worried that the credit card will have a limit of 10000 cnd and i need 11000-12000 to pay for everything including airfare and accomodation

i don't want to pay by cash either because i don't wanna carry that much in cash and there is a limit to how much can be carried through the border anyway.

how are you guys paying for your surgery?

i heard that the credit card limit has something to do with credit score. but since i am in first year university, i don't think my credit score will be high enough to get a limit that is high enough to pay it off. what do i do? T_T

also, do we get taxed on anything to do with the surgery?

use multiple credit cards. get your daddy to sub you 2 cards or more so you have enough to pay off. else bring some cash. bank transfer is allowed too i guess.

paying on multiple cards sounds like an option

do credit card companies always charge commission? or is it only after a certain preiod of time? i have all the money saved up already so i can pay immediately. is there some way to prepay?

Hi rawdude, im new to this forum. I have sinus problem too. Had surgery after my primary rhino done, I noticed that it had become worst. Im planning to go to either Dr Kao from Taiwan or Dr Lee from VIP Korea.

Dr Kao is also ENT specialist. He told me that he can removed the sinus at the same time when the rhinoplasty is done.

I dont think so Dr Lee is an ENT specialist.

Dr Kao and Dr Lee (through JoAnn) were detailed and made me shorlisted them in the end. Dr Lee also recommend me to do noble surgery (to fill up the laugh lines) Anyone done this before? I dont know I really need it or not... but it is said to make me look younger. (I do have problem with looking much older than my real age.)

Dr Kao is much more cheaper as compared to Dr.Lee. But Dr Kao does not provide airport pick up and free stay.

I am still confused at to who should I go to.

I am planning to go on August 2011. When are you planning to go? Anyone else going at that time. Need to really save up money. Dont have any saving for a nose job. I finished all my saving for my primary nose job and the two revision after. (now left with an ugly scar on my colummelar).

xoxo

i questioned VIP and BK about my sinus along with rhino. Both said it can be corrected during the surgery as they suspect deviation causing stuffy nose which i was told by a local ENT specialist my nose is slightly deviated. so i believe dr lee may be able to correct that, nevertheless, im pretty confirm of bookings already during end of jan. I read on news today the north Koreans are initiating to end the conflict with the south soon. phew.

but swine flu kicked in recently. anyone in concern?

idk.

i need to get this done before i hit the bucket. lol getting old oready. oh well.

$$$ < i would say... no gd things r ever cheap. i wont and will not ask for any discount. i believe in u get wot u give. anyway US dollar is falling fast. i heard it may fall to 1.2 .. so anyhow. this is still a gd time to spend. cheerios!

hi kain, never heard of commission, r u toking abt interest?. that is chargeable only if you do not pay off the bill end of month. oh well, i strongly suggest multiple credit cards payments compare to other means. this is the safest. + that lum sum is going to earn your daddy huge points+ rebates on his credit.

Keep in mind that you will end up paying more if you use credit card. There's normally a foreign transaction fee and other fees (a percentage of your entire purchase) from your bank and the bank in the foreign country that the clinic uses. You can call your bank to get all the information ahead of time and ask the clinic if there is a fee. You could easily pay 5% or more. Plus it's also easier to get a discount if you use cash. Always try to negotiate a lower price in person. I don't think most clinics expect you to pay the price they quoted you.

Hi all, I read the original thread alot prior to my surgery. Here's my experience.

My original nose was like Jackie Chan's, thick and bulbous but I had absolutely no bridge. I consulted two plastic surgeons in Spore: Ivor Lim and Martin Huang. I went with Martin Huang because he recommended a full surgery of tip & alar reduction + silicone implant whereas Ivor Lim recommended silicone implant only.

3 days post surgery with Martin Huang, he said the silicone had slipped to the middle of the nose and I should have another surgery to replace the implant. We scheduled another surgery within a week of the first surgery. After the second surgery was done, the final result was the implant sitting to the left of my face. It wasnt too obvious unless you really studied my face closely or in photos. He asked me to massage the implant which I did diligently but it was no help. He suggested I have another surgery done to correct this. By then, I was pregnant and I didnt do anything for two years.

When I was finally ready to go under the knife for the third time to fix my nose, I started to question whether I should go back to Martin Huang. I spoke to another plastic surgeon who recommended I visit Dr Jung of Shimmian Clinic in Seoul, South Korea. He said he sends ALL his patients looking for rhinoplasty to him. He is the best in Asian rhinoplasty.

After reading many posts online, I was torn between Dr Lee of VIP or Dr Jung. I decided to go with Dr Jung in the end because I wanted someone who does nothing all day except operating on noses. My surgery was done on 1 December. The hotel was booked through an agent through Dr Jung's website.

Dr Jung speaks mandarin, English and Korean. He has an understudy ENT doctor (Dr Ian Loh) from Singapore who speaks Korean and perfect English to help translate. May I add he is absolutely good looking! After consultation, he recommended I get rib cartilege because this is my third surgery and he's not sure how much septum cartilege I have left.

The first night of the surgery was the most difficult because of the cotton wool stuffed up both nostrils, breathing had to be done through the mouth and my mouth was so dry the whole night. The rib surgery was also rather painful the first night. Once I got past the second night, I was up and about. I stayed in Seoul for a total of 8 days, 7 nights. I toured Seoul and went shopping with the bandage on from the 3rd day. Seoul is an amazing city!

If you are considering a rhinoplasty in Seoul, I highly recommend Dr Jung because he is truly an expert on noses. My guide told me that in Korea, if the plastic surgeon is good, he only does one body part ie nose, eye, breast etc. Through word of mouth, the surgeon's business is good enough not to do other body parts except the one they specialise in.

I would suggest the following if you're considering Dr Jung:
- Go through the website www.nose.co.kr and ask if the clinic can arrange a driver to pick u up (from airport-clinic) free of charge
- Book Coatel Hotel for 4 nights (it is walking distance to Dr Jung's clinic and has a convenience store downstairs). Lots of food to eat around the hotel. The hotel is basic though
- Book Lotte Hotel (near MeongDong) for the rest of your stay. This hotel is connected to Lotte shopping centre and is opposite from Meong Dong. Great shopping! If you take the subway from Lotte-Dr Jung's clinic, it is one the same line and takes approx 30 minutes.

My rhino with Dr Jung was USD8,500 (USD3,000 extra for rib) and I paid SGD18,000 for Martin Huang (who didnt do a very good job!). Dr Jung did an excellent job on my nose, it is straight and the tip & alar are much more defined.

I hope you found this post useful. Good luck everyone in your quest to a prettier nose!

I m glad i didnt go ahead with woffles and martin in sg cuz it seems like korea is still the best choice since everyone is talking abt it.

why do credit cards have to be so damn complicated? :crybaby:
i guess this is what it's like to grow up lol

i don't see how i can carry 11k cash through the airport though. i think customs limits it to 10k usd or something

i thought about paying by banking but then everything would have to be prepaid
