asian nose job 2

@McDreamy: it's funny how the picture I found describes so well how it looked like under my columella. The more I look at it, the more I think it was awful, especially for a girl. I knew it wasn't the swelling because it was as hard as rib, now that the columella strut is gone, I don't have it anymore, so yes, you were right, it is the strut.

@purply: Found her, it is reddelicious, page 523 (post of July 31st 2011), she went to Dr Lee Banobagi

@Azn_kid: I saw your post as I was looking for the nickname of the girl I met in my livingtel. And indeed, ITEM clinic is very affordable even though the surgeon is the one that was assisting Dr Kim at BK clinic. Worries (in the TPF eyelid surgery thread) was operated by the doctor of ITEM clinic (Dr Chuang or Chang I think) but she paid the high price of BK because she thought Dr Kim would operate on her, but he's too old to operate and this doctor from ITEM was the one who did all the surgeries for him before he resigned to open his own clinic.
As for Jewelry clinic, there are adverstisements from their work plastered all over the Korean subways (some pics were posted on the Cozycot forum, cheekbone thread). I think they specialize in facial contour. I don't know enough about them.

Does anyone know if reversing an osteotomy is possible ? Is it okay to shave a natural bridge so it would look like the natural bridge before osteotomy ? or would the nasal bone be too thin after ?

If anyone knows anything about this, it would be helpful.

@angleplane: does you columella look completely the same as before surgery (or at least no deform at all) after the columella strut was removed. I think I also have a columella strut because it's very hard there but I heard that they have to put the strut in to support the tip. So I just wondered if there is a chance the tip may collapse it the strut is removed?

Why do you want to reverse the osteotomy? does your bridge look not natural now?
I wondered if there's a chance that osteotomy, if not performed correctly, may make the nose asymmetric and the surgeon may try to disguise it with an implant but if the implant is removed then it would become obvious?
I wish I have my surgery report. Dr.Lee is at least good in that he gave you a detailed surgery report.

@winterntht : All the other clinics mentioned by jenstar11 provide a very detailed surgery report.
With all the dramatic changes, it is the mimimum to be able to draw the 8 pieces of rib put in the nose. I guess Samsung clinic do not do a detailed surgery report just for a tip plasty and a nasal augmentation with permacol.

I really hope so, I hope that the surgery was so simple that they don't need a detailed report...
I will keep calling the doctor tomorrow to ask about this - he is the only one who speaks English well in that clinic.
Do you know the reason why Dr.Lee usually put several pieces of ribs in one's nose. Why does he not use rib just like a piece of silicon for the bridge and ear/septal cartilage for the tip. If so, I guess there would not be much difference between rib nose and silicon nose becuase some silicon materials are also very hard and it's only hard on the bridge, you still have a soft tip?

@Acadabra: How do you know from the franchised clinic in Malaysia that VIP staff is reading this forum ?
I only know they read it because myself and other patients told Joann about this forum during my stay, so I guess many other patients told her before, especially those who are close to her.

i think that if no cartilage was removed from the tip area for the strut to be placed, the tip should go back to its original shape.

Hi guys,

Has anybody done their nose in Singapore instead of Korea? All the reviews I've been reading so far are for Korean plastic surgeons. Are they really better than Singaporean surgeons? Any reviews of Singaporean plastic surgeons?

I'm planning to get a nose job in September, and I would preferably want to get it done in Singapore, because I can't afford to have any complications without any follow-ups after that since I'll be moving to Canada in a few months' time and I'll be all alone there, so if something really major happens(because of the lack of follow-up treatment) to my nose there, I think I will be a goner lol.

Has anybody heard of Dr Andrew Tay? Is he good with rhinoplasty? I'm thinking of going to him for a nose job, but I saw some of the B&A pictures of his rhinoplasty patients and I didn't really like what I saw. But then again, everybody's noses are different, so different people will yield different results I guess.

He recommended two different approaches:
1)Closed rhinoplasty and he will use a short L-shaped implant for that
2)Open rhinoplasty and he will use an I-shaped implant + ear cartilage and the "useless" cartilage in the nose to make the tip sharper. He said if I wanted a much longer nose I would have to use rib cartilage, but I don't.

I hinted that I was keen on taking the open rhinoplasty approach (because I want a sharper tip) but surprisingly, he said the closed rhinoplasty approach would be nice for me too. I was pretty confused because I thought he would recommend the open method since my tip is kind of short, so I was like ??? Not sure which method to choose now if I were to go to him for a nose job. What do you guys think?

My nose is quite flat at the bridge and slightly wide at the base. My tip is rather short as it doesn't extend down much to cover the septum slightly as normal noses should. I think I have a wide nose but Dr Tay said I don't really need alarplasty with an implant in so I guess it's not that wide? Basically I want a nose job to increase the height of my bridge slightly, lengthen the tip of my nose slightly, narrow the base of my nose and make my nose more refined-looking. Nothing too dramatic.

I'm keeping my plastic surgeon options open though, so if anyone had a great experience with a Singaporean surgeon, could you kindly give a brief review on him/her please? Would appreciate it very much!

i dont think it was my entire bridge that went down significantly. it was just my radix. the bridge is a lot smaller now from the 3/4 and front view; that was mainly due to swelling which caused my bridge to look really wide.
so i think my bridge got thinner by a few mm. the height of the bridge would have gone down by a mm or two at most since i have thin skin i think. ppl with thick skin will probably have more swelling.

i think absorption (if it happens) is supposed to take place over the long term.

o hey, i just found this

http://forum.singaporeexpats.com/ftopic56678.html

the first post has a long list of surgeons in singapore. among the surgeons listed there, i've heard of woffles wu and martin huang before.
the thread is only three pages long though

edit: apparently woffles wu charges 13k for silicone bridge, ear cartilage on the tip, and alarplasty
not sure if that is in sgd or usd though

@azn_kid: I don't know if ITEM clinic is good, I just know that Worries said he corrected her eyes.
For those interested, Worries (from eyelid thread) sent me this : ITEM Clinic <[email protected]> Tel : 82-1661-9656

The surgeon is good for eyes apparently as he corrected her case 4 months post op after a failed surgeryin Taiwan or China.
She posted her pics on the other thread, but I can't find the link, you can google it maybe, I think Kain have been posting on this thread, so maybe he'll be ablt to send us the link where she posted her pics.
She wants to do her nose at ITEM too, but I personally like to go to one clinic that specialize in one particular thing, but maybe she had a good feeling with the surgeon. I know it is affordable. He's good with eyes according to Worries.

Also for those looking for skilled and affordable prices, Dr Song that is mentionned in Cozycot does noses under local anesthesia (less traumatizing for the body, but more for the memories on the operating table apparently), even osteotomies, he's a specialist of facial contour and is apparently skilled and nice.
His email : [email protected]
http://forums.cozycot.com/health/30625-cheekbone-reduction-surgery-200.html
http://forums.cozycot.com/health/30625-cheekbone-reduction-surgery-140.html
He can do a nose tip plasty and alarplasty for USD1800.
I know that one forumer from Vietnam went to him, maybe she'd like to share her experience. I didn't have a consultation with him, but anyway, I only considered him for facial contour. I don't know what he's worth with noses, there's a website with before and after pictures : http://www.busunko.com/

@Kain : Thanks, I remember it was the bridge that went down.

@kiraihada : I do not recommend L-shape implants as it doesn't look natural, the only fact that he offers that to you would make me avoid him, but maybe other methods can suit you. I recommend closed rhinoplasty over open rhinoplasty for a primary, also you have no risk of having your smile affected. But that's just my personal opinion. I'm not a plastic surgeon, I just read information from forums and by searching on Google. Everyone's experience with an L-shape implant might be different, but I read a lot of complains about these.
