asian nose job 2

Recommended Posts

taeyang,

i am not the right person to answer your question. everything i know is related to my particular nose situation. you might have to massage it or you might not have to. i would either post a question on realself.com (since plastic surgeons post answers to the question) or talk to a PS during a consultation.

i'm sorry but i wish i could be more helpful. take care buddy. :shrugs:

Hi guys!! Sorry i have been quiet, have been busy with work.

I finally did my NJ and i chose Banabogi. But the doctor was not Dr Lee but a Dr Oh.
Apparently there are 2 branches. And this doctor was at the main branch. We were looking for an english translator but apprently there wasn't one in house. Or maybe the Chinese translator wanted our business and lied to us. Oh well...

I went to Regen but they were too crowded, i didnt get a response via email. Banabogi managed to squeeze me in. I went to Dr Jung also, he was nice but recommended a higher bridge with implant which i didnt want to. Also i wanted buccal fat removal so i went to a "all-in-one" place. Went to Grand surgery. They were very crowded but i think they have more doctors than banabogi. Also the sales people there were quite pushy. The doctor was nice though and he said he was able to do what i wanted. He didnt make much suggestions for me.

I have a bulbous nose and wide alars, unfortunately, the width of my alars was due to thick skin and not big nostrils. So they reduce alar minimally (or else i would have nostrils so small i can't breathe properly) . I had also done Nasal bone narrowing (u need to undergo GA for that) and tip-plasty with the suture method.
From the chinese translator, i think these were all i had done. Now my nose is still pretty swollen but i can see the tip is higher and more defined. I dunno how "narrow" is my bridge now can't see it under the cast.

I also went for buccal fat removal! I think i'm an ok candidate cuz i looked at my mom and so did the surgeon and we were like "Yeah we do have chubby chipmunk cheeks in the faimily" So basically my whole face is swollen now.

I didnt get to speak to the nose surgeon via translator post op cus it was Saturday evening. I have to go back Friday to get stitches removed.

Yep basically this is my experience. The scary part is waking up from the GA with the helluva Sore throat!! Basically the worse sore throat you can EVER imagine. And it's really scary going in when they start poking you with the needles and you can hear your own heartbeat accelerating. Sorry not meant to scare you guys off PS, just my own experience :P

Hey knowsnose!

Congrats on your nose job! Waking up from GA is a bit scary. When I had my corrective jaw surgery last summer, I was put under GA and I woke up with the worst sore throat ever. It lasted for a few days and it was very annoying. Especially because I had to take medicine and some of the pills were very big thus making it hard to swallow. I also went to Grand for a consult. I think the doctor I consulted with was Dr Shin. He was very nice but I felt rushed because he had to go to surgery and also the sale people were a bit too pushy. Even though the price they quoted me was pretty good, I decided not to go with them. During my check up at Regen before I came back to the states, it was extremely busy. I think its because of winter break? There was this 1 disgruntled Korean lady who just happened to pop in with her 2 daughter because she wanted them to get eyelid surgery that day. I think Regen was trying to squeeze them in that day but after waiting 2 hours, the lady and her daughters left :P

Concerning your nose, I too had a similar nose issue. I had a bulbous nose and wide alars. The width of the alars was not due to wide nostrils but think skin. So its difficult to get an alar reduction and it would be minimal otherwise it would impede my breathing. I had my tip defined for a more definition and also had my tip projected to reduce the width of my alars. I'm almost 4 weeks post op and looking at my nose from the bottom up, the tip is nicely defined. It's still swollen though but the swelling definitely got better! As for my alars, they are reduced but not dramatically. As mentioned, I'm not surprised and I anticipated this. However the width definitely improved. When I smile really hard, they don't spread out as much. It used to spread out A LOT and I hated it. I think the spreading out post op is reduced to...40-50% less.

Best of luck on your recovery!

@Kain, I would like to seek more details from you on paranasal augmentation. At this moment, I am very concern about my paranasal recovery. I feel that it is causing me to look awkward.

1. Where is the exact location of the implant being placed? Right beside the base of the nose? or below the nose? or somewhere else?
2. What was your side effect during the recovery process (other than granny lips)?
3. Any impact to your cheeks? For me, after approx 4 weeks post op, my cheeks are obviously higher when i smile.
4. I found that the gap/space btw my eye and cheeks are wider now. This kind of make my face imbalance now. Do you think this is caused by paranasal augmentation or it due to swelling recovery?
5. Are you able to feel your implant when you touch your face? You mentioned before that it should go behind the nose? Can you elaborate?

If others who had paranasal augmentation experience, you're welcome to share.

@Kain, one more question, I tried pulling up my upper lip, I realized that the cut is right below my nostrils level. However, I can feel the implants are beside my nose. The weird thing is i can feel that the both sides implant are in slightly different location

Hi Sweetheart2012, I'm almost 4 weeks post op now. I found that there are still swelling on my face (not sure if it is mainly due to the paranasal) as well as the nose (especially the tip). But I think 4 weeks should be good enough for you to meet people, start school or work  As for the b&a photo, to be frank, I'm still not that comfortable to share. The reason is I hardly had any photo without a happy smile. I couldn't really compare my look now as I couldn't smile properly and I found myself look weird at times. I have granny lips (my upper lip can't go upwards when I smile) and my cheeks are unusually higher than before. According to feedback, it will take about 2-3 months to look normal again. I'm kind of depressed now. So, I hope I can be more relief by reading others' posts in this forum about their experience :P

knownose I just wanted to confirm that you had your nose job with Dr. Jung at Banobagi, right? Does Dr. Jung specialize in rhinoplasty? I'm also looking for an one-stop-shopping clinic also because I'd like to do my nose, massetter muscle reduction, buccal fat removal and/or facial liposuction. I don't want to undergo GA twice at two different clinics in such a short period of time. It would be too much for the body to handle.

May I know how much you paid for your procedures? Thanks!

Hey i paid 5m Krw for the nose... and another 1.8m for buccal fat.
They recommended facial lipo for me to but i was too scared to undergo that - i will just try to lose weight.

Yes Dr Jung specialises in Rhino (according to my chinese translator) and also Dr Oh is the one who does the face ie jaw/cheek reduction/facelipo. I think he is quite famous.

They bring you to this room where they take standard view photos of your faces like top bottom view, side profiles etc... then you see the respective doctors for the areas you want to carry out.
