admat97 Posted November 21, 2010 Posted November 21, 2010 I could pass out just thinking about it! I have NO threshold for pain at all. The backs of my knees have so many noticeable veins (since pregnancy) and I haven't worn shorts, dresses or a bathing suit since 2004. I still don't want to have needles stuck into my legs. Now if I could be put asleep for the procedure, I would consider it.

mdmitchell Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I had mine done in a clinic in New York. Wonderful place. The doctors and staff are pleasant and answered all my questions. I wanted a non-surgical procedure and after research this was the place. My procedure only lasted 20 minutes. No hospital stay. The best part my insurance covered it.

I am undergoing a review process to see if any vein "work" is covered by my insurance. I'm kind of irritated b/c I tell the doctor that my legs ache from the spider veins... can't they just go on that?!?!

I had mine done about a month ago and they've changed color-become dark instead of red. I actually kind of think one area looks worse now than before it was done. FWIW: I go in for another treatment before Thanksgiving
revans Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 A few days ago I had my first sclerotherapy session. I like to think I have a decent pain threshold. I've had some painful facial procedures like micro needling, IPL, peels. Not very painful. The worst for pain is cortisone injections, permanent eyeliner and now... Sclerotherapy! I've never been in that much pain and no one prepared me for any pain. It is excruciating! I too almost passed out twice. You would think they would at least have a Botox ball on hand! I even took a Percocet 10/325mg before the procedure for another health condition- did not help! The dr must have injected me at least 50 times. I'm glad I only paid about $25 because the main problem was due to regurge that exacerbated my RSD and tarsal tunnel syndrome and was covered by insurance. The dr said it usually takes 3-5 visits. I'm thinking about only having the vein above my tarsal tunnel done again. (that wasn't so bad, it was the small veins that hurt like crazy.)What do you think?

I recently had Sclerotherapy performed in a specialist vein clinic and will be returning in a few weeks for another session. The veins on my legs varied from tiny spider veins to a long blue one that could be felt behind my knee and up my thigh. I honestly couldn't feel most of the injections, and I was there getting pricked for a good 45minutes. My legs are super sensitive to epilating but i had nothing to worry about! The bigger veins did sting a little but the pain lasts for 3 seconds max. Perhaps different solutions are used at different places but I was honestly expecting so much more pain than the occasional jab. I had to return 3 weeks later as I'd developed some painful lumps of trapped blood. It hurt where she pierced my skin but draining the dead veins only brought feelings of relief. I have a long brown mark where my biggest vein was, but over time this should fade. I live in Australia and unfortunately Medicare doesn't cover the removal of veins under a certain diameter. I was able to claim my initial consultation and ultrasounds but each Sclerotherapy session costs around $600 + compression stockings.
saphireeni Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Has anyone had treatment on their face? When I was a teenager I used to have only two small clusters of spider veins. Now, years later, there's so many over my lower face. I hate using concealer and bb cream every single day just to look healthy.
