elynnin Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I'm asking because I came across this somehow and it seems interesting to me. I've always had no lashes, as in no lashes even after mascara, and I love the look of fake lashes. However that is not something I'm wiling to glue onto my lids every day, so... Has anyone ever tried this? Or have had any experience with? I did my share of research but most of the "reviews" are from people who are somehow against surgery in general but don't know anything else about it. Now that I know all the negatives, anyone have any real-life experiences to share?
vhdos Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Have you tried an eyelash growth stimulator? There are SO many on the market now. Latisse is a prescription and it's been FDA approved for use. It really does work - I have used it myself. There are also several over-the-counter products. From experience, I can tell you that LiLash is a good one and the old formulation of Jan Marini Age Intervention Eyelash was good too. I had exceptional results with all three products and no side effects. I've heard that Revitalsh works well, but I have personally not tried that one. I would think that a topical product to grow your own lashes would be worth a try before implant surgery...
elynnin Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 I'm hesitant to use that because i have a once a day, every day routine. Also, I hate how when you stop using it your lashes go away. The attraction with the surgery is how it's permanent...also you don't have to keep putting chemicals in your eyes.
vhdos Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 ^Actually, it's not a once-a-day routine. Once you achieve some growth, you can get away with using the products once every few days to maintain the growth. Also, if you're following the directions, you're not exactly putting chemicals "into" your eyes. You put the product on the upper lash line (like the way you would apply a liquid eyeliner), so while I'm sure that a very minimal amount does end up in your eyes, it's not as though you're putting it directly in to them. It's really not that much different than the chemicals that get into your eyes when wearing any kind of eye make-up. Yes, a permanent solution would be nice, but there are risks associated with the implant surgery too.
alliemia Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Neulash works and I don't even use it anymore and the lashes never went away. Mine are so long they curl up and touch my face.
elynnin Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Really?? Is that supposed to happen? BTW how long / how often did you use it for?
alliemia Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I maybe use it once a month or when I remember, but to get the initial results I used it every night for 8 weeks. I believe you can buy it at Neiman Marcus now. Here is a set, and it's a great price, I had paid $150 for this set when it first came out http://www.neulash.com/SpecialOffers.php
vegas-long-legs Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Hair transplants don't take for many people. Going to be needing to use a growth stimulator once the tranplant is inserted anyway. That's to give the hair a chance to grow. Are they using real eyelashes, from someone else. Chance are you will need anti-rejetion drugs so your body doesn't reject them as alien. They will be poking holes in your lash line to insert the lashes. Chances for infection, so they will probably have you on antibiotics anyway.
elynnin Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 I think they use hair from your scalp, so it grows and grows and you might have to trim it once in a month or so but I like that better than applying some chemicals to my eyes every day? I guess the main attractiveness of the surgery is that I get the procedure done once and then only need to curl/cut the lashes once in a while and don't need to do much afterwards.
elynnin Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 looks like a good deal, and once a month isn't that bad! i'll look into it, thanks
alliemia Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 On their site they say to use it 2-3 times a week to maintain the lashes once you have the desired results. I don't find I need to do it that often now that they are long. I say try one tube and see how you like it, then just maintain with once in a while applications as you see you need to. And I have light blue eyes and never had any issues with neulash, I love it.
vegas-long-legs Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 I do see the attraction of getting it over with. Why i loved lasik, no messing with contacts everyday Is head hair the same as eye lash hair? Mine isn't but that doesn't mean its that way for everyone. So then is it curled somehow after implanting.
bisousx Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Good luck OP; I know if I didn't have lashes, I would definitely research on a permanent procedure. My natural lashes are alright, but I still wear fake lashes everyday (the luscious look gets addicting!) I tried Latisse for 2 months and it didn't work for me. I've seen asian girls who use it, and their eyelashes are long, but not dense. I don't think it stimulates extra lash growth, but it will improve on what you've already got. It was too expensive for me to keep up with anyways.
vhdos Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 ^But that's the point of all of the topical products. They don't claim to grow new/extra lashes - they claim to protect/strengthen the lashes that you already have so that they can grow longer. Also, OP, if you're going to try a topical like Neulash, I would definitely recommend using it more than once a month (after achieving your desired growth), especially since you claim to have delicate lashes to begin with. I have been using lash products (like Neulash) for about 3 years now and I usually will take a short break when I run out of a product before starting a new one. I have noticed that I will start to lose lashes within about a month of discontinuing use. I'd say that you could safely get away with using a product once every couple of weeks to ensure lash retention. Anyways, best of luck on your decision. I hope that you find something that works for you
misshcouture Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 The one from Revlon works and you can get it any drugstore for under $10. I'm asian too with sparse and short lashes and I saw results with this! Apparently there are no harsh chemicals in it too and natural ingredients
