Maybe couple months? It eventually faded and now it's invisible. Is your scar still showing? So you used fat graft for bridge, and I'm guessing ear cartilage for tip? Did the fat ever absorbed? My tip has shrunken, so I'm wondering if it's possible to put some fat in there. I don't want them to take more of my ear. I got it done in 2011 too. Till this day I can't touch theback of my right ear cause I can't stand feeling that missing chunk. Are you planning to use rib?

Hi Mikyway52,
The fat absorbed at least 50% after 1-2 years.
Yes, I am planning to use the rib cartilage that is why I choose VIP.
Don't use the fat for your tip, and I have never heard using fat for the tip. I pretty sure the fat grafting absorb more that the rib cartilage. I wish this is my last time to do my rhinoplasty.

Saw the doctor's B&A and he does quite nice natural results. He made an asian girl look eurasian.

I'm going to get mine done in Thailand btw, not Korea like most of you. Anyway wish me luck

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. I'm half Chinese half Caucasian and want to get an alarplasty with tip refinement in Asia. I'm thinking of getting it done in the Phillipines by Dr. Rino Lorenzo. Has anyone had rhinoplasty surgery by him and what was your experience like? Also I am open to suggestions because I will be visiting China, Japan and the Phillipines so I could get the surgery done in any of those countries.

haha maybe you're right. Fat could be a bad idea. I guess i'll just have to go and find out what they could do for me. Are you heading by yourself?

I'm sure you'll meet some people there. I met a couple girls and got to know them. After the surgery, every morning you gotta go in for cleaning/check up. You'll meet people there in the waiting room since everyone has to go in around the same time. And I remember JoAnn introduced patients to each other so they wouldn't feel so alone.

I don't think I'm gonna get anything else done. I thought about other feature I'm not happy with, but in the end I guess it's not so bad. I don't want to look like a different person. Haha. How bout you, are you getting anything else done?

Thank you for sharing your experience at the clinic! It sounds I won't be too lonely.
I want to do my eye bag removal and maybe fat grafting. Dr. Lee advice zygoma and mandible reduction to me but I concern about the sagging after the facial bone reduction. Anyway, I would like to make the decision after I see Dr. Lee.

congratz its nice to see people taking their rhinoplasty experiences outside of korea. There are many skilled surgeons in all of asia, not just korea. Interested to see how your results turn out. good luck!

That is so much... *faint* Some surgeons in Korea even don't cost more, can even cost less... Then again it was rib cartilage? maybe that's why it's more... Wonder how much normal rhino without cartilage is? It's cheaper, right? I don't want my ribs cut or anything so I'm not going to do cartilage, anyway I'd be afraid to end up with a pig nose xD I am waiting for a reply to my email, I asked about the prices of different procedures... If the prices aren't completely crazy and I think he can do them well I'll go for a face to face consultation, no question about it. But might not be soon... If I go I'll go some time between October and January... Ah, I don't know my plans yet ^^; but I'll let you know how it goes if/when I go! When are you planning to go...?

edit: ah, his website has "costs" section xD I didn't notice... rib rhino 31-37k, including alar and chin augmentation?? Why would you need a chin augmentation for rhino... Anyway xD I'll look at the prices on the website now and the rest I'll hopefully get by email soon...

edit2: ah his website is so confusing (,__,) at first I thought he does jaw+chin too because of some of the pictures on the chinese side but maybe those people got that surgery elsewhere? one had definitely had v-line done! but I couldn't find anything about that on his website so I don't think he does that? everything seems to be about the nose... There was also something about the chin but it was about augmentation... ah I hope he replies my email soon ^^

I know! i'm really dying to hear about some personal reviews from people. But I honestly think face to face consultation will answer all the questions we have. Honestly I think the price is good for rib rhinoplasty. If his prices were dirt cheap then I would be worried if its for real or not. Im pretty sure it's alot cheaper with just regular cartilage tho. Ya the site is super confusing, you should just ask him through email so you can be sure what his prices are. Yes Ive been planning to go for a long time now, just haven't had the chance to set everything in motion cuz of expenses with school. His results are a lot more impressive to me in my eyes then some korean surgeons.

I don't think he does any jaw surgery or contouring. But he does do the whole vline botox thing. I've seen the results pretty good. I think the patients go elsewhere to get that contouring stuff done. I think chin augmentations compliment rhinoplasty really well depending on your profile.

Hi, Scaredgirl checking in again! The swelling has gone down a lot and I feel much better about my new nose. However, I still feel like it is a bit too high (5mm) and so the skin around it is very stretched, oily, and shiny. It's gross so I blot my skin pretty regularly, but I've read on forums that your skin should normalize again after 6 months. Again, I got my surgery done with Dr. Jung at Shimmian and also got paranasal implants (silicone for both at the recommendation of Dr. Jung). The noses I saw at his clinic were very nice; and damn was Shimmian always crowded! Whenever I came in there would be at least 4+ people there, men and women included and very many foreigners. For the first three weeks I looked absolutely terrible... I am at Day 27 and my face and eyes are still slightly bruised at the edges and I have subjunctival hemorrhaging (bloodshot eyes that don't go away with sleep or eyedrops) from the surgery that is still slightly visible. The paranasal implant has helped my protruding mouth but I still find it difficult to fully smile. The first few weeks I couldn't even show my upper teeth, and now I can but it still hurts. When I came back home, my friends and family were all aghast that I looked so different but everyone has said they liked my new look. My boyfriend said he was amazed that my surgeon could change my nose so drastically. A lot of people say I now look Eurasian because my new nose is so high, and I think the paranasals have changed my lip shape. I'm getting used to having hard silicone in my face. There is still a LOT of swelling in my nose, especially at the tip, so I can't wait until it goes down. The past few days the swelling has been going up and down. I feel like it is really obvious that I got surgery because of how shiny I am, but strangers or acquaintances don't seem to notice. It's only close friends and family that are in for a real shock. My aunt told me I came back looking like an actress so I'm pretty pleased, but my little cousin saw how red my eyes were and told me I looked like a monster so I think it's about even.

I got surgery with Shimmian so I stayed at their rehab Heal Camp hotel. They are very small rooms and are about $55-$60 USD a night. I would recommend that you bring a humidifier because the pollution in Seoul as well as blasting airconditioning all night on top of how sensitive your mucuous membranes already are will make you EXTREMELY uncomfortable. The manager downstairs is incredibly nice and Jay Lee will help you order Korean food to-go, but the delivery service there tastes bland and is really gross. The close location to the clinic was a plus, but during our stay the hot drinking water broke down and no one fixed it for weeks and the cleaning lady did not come for 5 days. We decided to stay there longer instead of changing hotels because we bonded with a lot of other foreigner women who also got surgery at Shimmian; it was nice to make friends even while we all felt horrible. But for $55 a night in Gangnam, I guess you can't expect too much.

Recommendations for travelers going to Korea for a nose job:
- Stay for two weeks at least. You need to let your doctor check your progress very frequently. I was EXTREMELY swollen even after two weeks; expect this after an osteotomy.
- Bring dry shampoo because you can't shower and your hair will be disgusting
- Get a humidifier because Seoul is polluted and going during this time of year means you will be heavily relying on AC
- Research your doctor, clinic, the risks of the procedures, and pros and cons of different rhinoplasty materials
- Dr. Jung said which material he chose depended on the thickness of your skin as well as what result you were looking for. I wanted a relatively defined nose and had thick skin so he chose silicone for me
- Do not move tilt your head downward after rhinoplasty, your blood pressure will rise and hemorrhaging is far more likely
- Are you feeling energetic after your surgery? Yeah? Well, sit the hell back down. Rest because your body will hate you for the next week if you don't.
- Ice like crazy during the first 48 hours. If you're going to Shimmian, buy some quality ice packs beforehand because the icepacks they give you are terrible.
- If you don't want to use a specific material, let the doctor know
- Show the doctor photos of noses you like and ask them to cater a similar nose to your face; would be also beneficial if you can photoshop your photos to give them an idea of what you want
- Follow aftercare instructions to the T!
- Sleep at an incline. If you can bring one of those awesome chair pillows, do it. If not, just use pillows to prop yourself up.
- Buy hydrogen peroxide and extra q-tips.
- Bring your heavy duty concealer because when you are allowed to wear makeup, trust me you will.

Although I posted a few comments in Asian Nose Job thread, I've never posted in this thread since..didn't have much to say or ask since I already decided my clinic and possible procedures, april 31/Dr.Jae Hoon Kim/rhino +fat graft, based on my own sister's experience. However, I decided to post this time for 3 reasons!
1.Although I didn't post much, this forum is like a friend to me! I read it everyday, I've felt really happy for some, sad for some, sorry for some, angry at some lol. So I've always wanted to show my gratitude and pay back and now I finally got a chance. I will be going to Korea with my sister in Nov. this year and I'm going to make it not just a trip for my surgeries but as my vacation by staying there for 5 weeks! My sister has been to Korea twice already so I thought we could actually have fun there and we made a friend there already!(actually he works for the clinic but he said he will be happy to show around the city for us, we katalk, facebook everything so I consider him a friend now lol) So, I'm more than happy to be ya'll's guinea pig! pls post anything and everything you would like to hear an experience about! regarding the ps of course but all other things too! stay, where to go, what food is good, postoperative discomforts and tips, then I will try my best to try out those things everybody was curious about myself and post them here!
2.Has anybody else had a surgery at april 31? My sister's result made me confident but still..considering it was a revision for her and it is my first surgery..more experience sharing from others would be so much appreciated!
3.This is kind of the first favor I'm asking in this forum..does anybody understand chinese? There is this video clip? china TV show? posted in the clinic's blog, I'm dying to see what it is about, but it's all in chinese! If anybody who can speak chinese could give me a brief idea what it is about, any important info. there that i need to know, then I will be so happy!! Much thanks in advance!!

I got my nose and chin done 3 weeks ago. My nose is much smaller and higher now but I don't think I look very different at all. Does this make sense? I've seen so many photos where rhinoplasty completely changes a person's look and am slightly disappointed that I look the same.
