Hi, may I know if your primary was rib rhinoplasty? 5k seems to suggest silicon since their VIP's rib rhinoplasty is usually more than 10k.

Is it really cheaper after you include airfares and accommodation?

Depends. No if ure from the US/Canada.

Yes if ure from Australia cos its freaking expensive here after anesthesiologist fee (well over a grand), OR fee (well over a grand) if u opt to do it in the hospital and hospital charge if u stay overnight (well over a grand). Not to mention the procedure alone tends to cost nearly double what they charge in the US and the skill level is generally not there in comparison to the surgical capitals.

@Liara, you're nose looks great! That's the kind of result I want. Something really subtle so that everyone won't be like "you got a nose job!".

@noitsyou, I read your post about being worried about what people in the workplace will say. I can relate to this. Though, instead of the workplace, I'm worried about my university colleagues. I'm doing a masters degree and the cohort is very close knit. We see each other everyday and I don't want my results to be obvious.

I am also wondering whether it would be worth it to travel overseas or do the rhino here is Australia. My concern is that there doesn't seem to be that many surgeons specialising in Asian rhinoplasty and I don't want a botched job. But then again, I'm afraid that if I go to Korea for example, I'll just be another number at a big clinic and they will make my bridge too high (like the k-pop stars).

Hey everyone,

I went to AT (Teuim) and Dream for consultations yesterday. I arrived in Seoul very early in the morning and went to my appointments soon after.

The flat I rented is near AT Clinic so we walked there. It was about a two minute walk. I had headshots taken right after filling out paperwork. After that the wait was short. I only had to wait about 10 minutes to see Dr. Park. Dr. Park was really nice and funny, he high-fived me when I came into his office. He suggested open rhino with goretex and rib graft for a lengthened tip or septal for a simple nasal bulb reduction. My mother consulted with me for her 3rd rhino revision. Dr. Park proposed the same method for her. He said using donor rib is not preferable, because there's a high risk that the donor material is HIV positive(!!). The consultation was very intensive, and Dr. Park drew many diagrams for us. He said he prefers to see his patients after surgery everyday to ensure proper healing. I thought that was a nice touch.

After, I consulted with Dr. Kwon for double eyelid revision. He is a somewhat serious guy, but you can tell he knows exactly what he's doing. I felt very comfortable with him. With negotiation, the girl who spoke to us about pricing was a bit awkward, and wouldn't really reduce the price for us. The total came out to 15.5 million krw, AFTER negotiating and before taxes. We knew we weren't going with this clinic. Price was too high for us.

Next, we went to Dream to consult with Dr. Park Yang Soo. I had an appointment scheduled for 5pm. We had to wait an hour just to see the consultant. I was pissed about this because I was so tired and jet lagged. When we finally saw the consultant, Mi Yeong Lee, I explained to her that I wanted a double eyelid revision and primary rhino. For my eyes, Mi Yeong Lee suggested an upper facial/brow lift and mediepicanthoplasty for me. She said the brow lift will address the drooping over my eyelid crease. I thought this was interesting.

After we saw the consultant, we had to wait another hour to see Dr. Park Yang Soo at 7:30pm. He was in a surgery gown and seemed very tired. My first impression of him was that he was serious and not very friendly. Our consultation with him was very short and he said I would need open rhino with septal/ear cartilage and possibly donor rib. I asked for closed rhino, and he said open rhino is necessary because I have a lot of excess thick skin and this method it would allow more refinement- he also didn't touch my nose. I explained to Dr. Park that I want to lengthen my nose, and have a much more defined tip. I felt like he thought that was an irritating comment, because after I said that he just blankly stared at me. For my mother, he suggested the same thing. Dr. Park also said he would be unable to do my eye surgery, as it is not his speciality. I was unable to meet the eye specialist as it was already after 7:30pm, and the clinic was technically closed. This was maddening, as I showed up for my appointment on time, and was kept waiting and waiting and they were unable to provide me with a comprehensive consultation.

Mi Yeong Lee discussed pricing with us after the consultation with Dr. Park. I decided against the upper face lift, as the pricing was too high for me. I settled on epicanthoplasty and rhino only. My mother chose to have her revision at Dream as well. Mi Yeong Lee said their eye specialist would perform the epicanthoplasty. I should have been more thorough and asked more information about the eye surgeon, but I was so so tired. All I know he is a male doctor. The consultant also said that the doctor wasn't sure if he would use the donor rib on my mother and I, because we may or may not need it. If we needed it, we would be charged extra for it after the surgery. I thought that was very unusual, and what's to stop them from charging us for it anyway? I tried to negotiate more on the price, but was only able to get a little over 10% off. I mentioned Purseforum and got a "don't know, don't care" impression from the consultant about it, but my mother and I were satisfied with the price, so we went ahead and booked the surgery in two days. We were required to pay a deposit of 1 million won, which we charged on a credit card.

So my surgery is tomorrow, and I'm a little scared and excited. I'm going to make sure I address any other concerns with the doctor tomorrow before surgery.. because I feel like not enough attention was paid to me during my consultation. Also, I think the additional charge for donor material should be worked out. If the doctor decides to use it, that could make the surgery much more costly. I regret that I wasn't on top of it during the entire 3 hours of consulting. I was so seriously tired and starving, and only slept a couple hours on the plane. Anyway, positive vibes only from now on. I'll update more later!

Good luck on your surgery tomorrow! And don't worry about donor cartilage being hiv positive or any of that nonsense. The irradiation process completely negates any such risk. U should make sure u meet your eye surgeon for a consultation first and discuss thoroughly the procedure before the op....even if its right before

I'm sorry to hear of such a rushed consultation experience ... I feel concerned for you. If it was me I will never be able to let someone who I haven't met operates on my eyes especially for epi because of serious complications such as eyes cannot close properly, permanent tearing or permanent redness in the corner due to over correction. The doctor of eyes at dream who I knew of is a female doctor, she got quite a fair amount of negative reviews on other forum, but since you said yours will be a male one so I can't be sure who it will be. Maybe they have changed the doctor, idk. I hope you will at least get to talk to the doctor before your surgery for a mini consultation and please keep us posted.

Thanks K! I will definitely do that. I hope to have a great experience like you did. Your review did influence my decision to go there

MaiQ, you're so right. This is probably a stupid question, but if the doctor turns out to be the female one, or I don't feel comfortable with the eye specialist, do you think it would be too late to cancel the epi?

i think i know which surgeon MaiQ is refering to as i have met her before and there is only one female surgeon at Dream. If for whatever reason you do not feel comfortable then do not go through with it. U can cancel it at any point you want as it is your face and body. I personally would not have booked the surgery until i have met with the eye surgeon but what's done is done. Just be very meticulous tomorrow regarding all your concerns with all surgeons who will be operating on you. If your surgery is scheduled for the afternoon even better. Then you can request an early morning consult to address your concerns and your needs and wants will be fresh in the surgeon's mind.

Its unfortunate that Dr Park felt you were not suited to closed rhino tho as recovery would be a breeze since its less invasive. You should ask after the surgery if you could have a nose retainer too. It helps with internal scarring which may lead your nostrils to be asymmetrical. The surgeon can usually tell upon assessing you post op whether you will need it.

Good luck xx
