jnoseye
There is someone I know who got her nose done, not sure if it implant or filler, but she always has to go home when the weather is getting cold like in the winter. I wonder what is the reason for it. Does the nose implant cause discomfort in cold season? Somewhere it´s mentioned that the color of the nose bridge with implant will look different from the rest of the nose if it´s a very cold weather. Does someone know, how the nose implant stay in place inside the skin and why people can´t do piggy nose after rhinoplasty?
piiepiie
Hi everyone, It has been a month since I had my nose revision and I waited till now to share with you my experience because my final result started to show. Hopefully it is helpful to you. I had my first rhinoplasty in China in 2008. At that time, the surgeon did both my double eyelid surgery and rhinoplasty together. It was a bad choice and I regretted it for many years. I didn't know what the surgeon put into my nose until much later when side effects surfaced. Throughout the years, my nose became so pointy. There was contracture of the tip and the tip skin became transparent around 2014. There was also visible scar tissue "bump" near inside my nose, which later Dr. Kim with April 31 let me know it was L shape silicone pressing my nose cartilage. So the "bump" that I could see was actually my cartilage pressed out and down by the L shape silicone. Also, my nose bridge was slightly deviated and the deviation visual effect was heightened after the implant was put in. In 2015, I was going through career change, I had been unhappy and depressed about my nose for years and I knew I couldn't wait any longer. So I started doing intense research from both Chinese and English sources and eventually decided to do nose revision in South Korea. By August 2016, I narrowed down my choices of surgeons to the following: Dr. Kim Jae Hoon from April31 Dr. Suh Man Koon from JW Dr. Park Yang Soo from Dream Medical Group Dr. Paik Moo Hyun from 101 Plastic Surgery Dr. Young Hwan Oh from O & Young Plastic Surgery Clinic Dr. Myung Ju Lee : VIP Plastic Surgery Clinic To be continued... piiepiie
Starting from September 1, 2016, I visited their respective clinics and I am sharing with you my experience below: 1. Dr. Kim - April31: I made appointment via English consultant Brian by phone. Brian sound friendly and polite on the phone. On September 1, I saw him in person. He was very professional during the entire process of consultation. The clinic, according to Brian hasn't had any incident and never changed location or name. The building is well managed and very clean. My first impression is that there were Korean patients in the lobby and the clinic, unlike some other hospitals with a whole 'sales' team, seems to keep a low profile. Brian gave me a brief introduction and took me to have a CT scan for better diagnosis for nose revision. That was the only clinic among all that I have seen that does CT for nose consultation, which says a lot about its standard and attention to details. Dr. Kim was able to look at the CT and gave accurate diagnosis of my nose. Dr. Kim was so patient. He really listened to my concern. I talked about radix (only want to lower bridge 2mm heightened, starting point for the bridge, tip shape. What I was so impressed was that Dr. Kim is considered the best nose expert in Asia but he didn't show any sign of arrogance. He pointed out all my concerns. At the same time, he was really caring and professional in listening to me and answering my questions. Brian was so helpful in accurately facilitating the translation. Dr. Kim offered two options: 1 septal cartilage for the tip and silicone for the bridge. 2. Septal cartilage for the tip and dermis for shaping and heighten of the bridge. I had a very good consultation with April 31, but the price of of using dermis (comparatively rare less popular method but gives the most natural result which I desire the most) exceeded my budget. I trusted the doctor but I still wanted to stick with my schedule and consult with other hospitals. 2. Dr. Park - Dream Medical Group: I had high expection, but was actually disappointed. I didn't take a CT scan. The doctor was impatient with me, especially when I asked about if closed rhinoplasty (Dr. Park' specialty) is of any concern. He also didn't want to elaborate on my surgery method which made me feel very uncomfortable, as my first Chinese surgeon didn't review anything about my surgery detail. I understand that Dr. Park is very famous and busy, but the communication between me and Dr. Park wasn't good. We were not on the same page. The material used for my nose revision proposed by the doctor is standard cartilage for the tip and silicone for the bridge. When asked about dermis, Dr. Park said it wouldn't give the height I wanted. But the thing is I don't want a high nose in the first place. So it didn't really show the doctor really listened and cared much about what I desire. Also the consultant is a young lady who has a relaxed (a bit indifferent) attitude and seemed inexperienced compared with Brian. 2. Dr. Suh - JW: I watched Youtube video of Dr. Suh performing surgery. I think it takes confidence for the doctor to expose his work online under scrutiny. And I thought that must mean he is good. Also, he is at a doctor's prime age, so I had high expectation as well. A month before I arrived in Sourh Korea, I made an appointment, but two days before my consultation, JW Consultant Emily let me know even if I consulted with Dr. Suh, his surgery slot has been full for September, which I can tell he is very popular especially with foreign patients in China because of JW's branding. But I still wanted to hear from the Doctor. No CT scan. He suggested septal cartilage for the tip and cover it with fascia. It was only an ok consultation without any surprise. What made me feel uncomfortable was that my consultation was delayed to September 5 because Dr. Suh was traveling in Singapore. Also, the number of patients with JW and the marketing of the clinic made me worry about the quality and attention that can be given to each unique individual. 3. O & Y: they are so popular with Chinese patients to the point I was asked to pay a fee to see the best surgeon Dr. Oh. I don't trust the Chinese coordinator. And anything that is heavily advertised I don't feel comfortable with. So I cancel the appointment. 4. Dr. Lee - VIP: I saw quite some good reviews from this forum regarding rib rhinoplasty with Dr. Lee, so I sent an email to VIP to book a consultation. However, to my biggest surprise, Joann replied to my email with the longest text, saying doctor Lee saw the photo I sent and suggested rib rhinoplasty followed by detailed information and price for the surgery. It was very obvious to me that the email was a template. What made me feel very uncomfortable was that it looked too much like an advertisement. If I didn't read any reviews from this forum, I would have considered that long email as good caring customer service, but now after doing some research, it became quickly clear to me that it seemed fake. And I didn't trust Joann if she really showed my photos to the doctor or it is just a standard sales email. It is unacceptable to lie. I had very strong gut feeling that this wasn't right. So I canceled my appointment. Joann followed up asking if I wanted to see the doctor at different time. 5. Banobagi: I went to Banobagi because of their facial contouring surgeon was featured on Let Me In and just in general a quite famous hospital. I feel because of its fame, there is a huge reception team. Unfortunately, one Chinese coordinator gave me this *****y feeling. She said things and gave out Information regarding serious surgeries that should really come from a doctor not a receptionist or consultant. The level of her knowledge could be misleading. Also, once they heard I would consult with other clinics, they seem immediately impatient especially when giving out the quote. Dr. Oh met me regarding facial contouring which I feel really comfortable with. However, Dr. Lee was the one who saw my nose and eyes. I felt the consultation was mainly the doctor talking. And the doctor seemed a bit temperamental. No CT for nose consultation. The consultation was short. 6. BK: I went to BK because I made an eye revision appointment with Dr. Kim (I heard he is good with eyes). However, Dr. Kim actually supported dermis for nose revision. He is the only other surgeon besides Dr. Kim with April31 who also suggested dermis and actually think the result would made much better effect.bthat firmed my decision to use dermis and I took this consultation to add experience and just to hear out different opinions. 7. Regen: bad. Period. I don't even want to go into details. 8. 101 plastic surgery: I felt I never heard the clinic and the doctor seems more academic, I didn't go to my consultation because by that time I already knew what I wanted. piiepiie
In the end, I decided to go to April31. I trusted Dr. Kim very much, both skill wise and level of attention to me. English consultant Brian was humble and professional. I trusted his moral standard. He didn't give me any ********. In summery, the clinic and the team seemed to me very professional and apply high standards to what they do. And definitely have high moral standards. My general impression on doctors and clinics for nose revision is: April31 > JW > Dream > BK. I completely eliminated VIP, Regen. Price wise from expensive to cheap: banobagi > April31 > JW > Regen > Dream > BK. Regarding price, banobagi consultant seemed really sketchy when the giving the price. I did not trust the girl consultant at all and I think they are overpriced. Why does Regen asked for a high price?! I have no clue. I had my nose surgery on September 6 after visiting the above clinics. Brian scheduled vehicle to send me back to guesthouse. The post surgery care maintained a high level of professionalism. I feel very happy with my new nose. It looks so natural. My tip is round like my original nose. The height and shape are exactly what I wanted. It is not one of those plastic looking nose. It is very natural. Thank you Dr. Kim and Brian. Dr. Kim said because I used dermis the final shape would be set after three month because of absorption. I am looking forward to it. I read quite a lot from this forum and other sources. My experience doesn't mean 100 percent correctness. I have to say we are all responsible for our decisions, but it can be difficult to distinguish the good from the bad. My personal experience in 2008 taught me how a bad surgery could flip a person' life. I hope you guys do you research and be prudent in picking a clinic or doctor. Hope this can help you in anyway and best wishes to you all. Su The End
xiledsoviet
I did my rhinoplasty at Mega Plastic Surgery two and a half weeks ago; I was a little freaked out at first right when my splint came off because it was super swollen and at first it looked super unnatural lol (I thought I looked like I was from Avatar!) Their aftercare is pretty good, the nurses take good care of you and they really do check on you every day and clean you up, which is why I chose them over TL (but paying a little more for the surgery). Currently I'm about 18 days post op, my nose is a lot less swollen and more towards the shape I wanted; my side profile has improved dramatically and it looks very natural. Seems like most people don't notice until I point it out, which is perfect for me I do have some bad blackheads that came about from it not being cleaned so I won't post pics, but I will keep you guys updated! biadoy
I have been researching between Pitangui, JW and now Mega for revision rhinoplasty, I want to pick the best, I have a big western nose, and my last surgery left my tip looking even bigger, the most affordable so far is Pitangui, second Mega and most expensive is JW. Please let me know how your experience was with mega and how satisfied you are with your nose, please. and if anyone else have information to share with me about any of those clinics or rhinoplasty please do. thank you!!! gantz
Pitangui has bad reviews, plus the doctor is trained in Brazil, so why would you travel all the way to Korea to have surgery with someone who has not been trained in Korea?! At least I wouldn't! JW has also some bad reviews (and good ones of course), but people say that Dr. Suh is very busy, the whole clinic is always very busy etc. There has also been an accident with the anesthisiologist in JW. A girl from here, seach old posts. Plus their noses are too natural for my taste, almost no difference to my eyes, no likey. About Mega I don't know, there is only one girl who did some nose and eyes procedures there I think, please look a little bit back to find her posts. Hope these helped for starters! Please read all the threads here in pf, even the ones about procedures that don't interest you!

hanalymi
Silicone has high rate of deviating. I had nose bridge augmentation with silicone 8y ago and it is deviated/shifted and make it not straught. Do you think soft silicone can be better than the old one at this? Im thinking doing revision but still confused which implant should I go for. Some gals in my KK group are taking dermafat and others on PF have theirs done with dermis. Searching for info about these new types. I just know that they have high chance of reabsorption. But if its safe in the long run, with low rate of revision as compared to silicone then even though 70% kept post op sound good to me.

moody
here I go again, a trip back to Korea next month to fix my nose. I had my nose done at VIP Korea, rib harvested + mid face/parnasal. 2 years later my nose bridge thinned, with a bump and my tip is very short. Ive been beating myself up for awhile debating if I should even go back to the same clinic, since I through hell with the rib harvest. I really want my moneys worth. I don't know what to do, but to see what the surgeon says and maybe this time it'll be better than the last.
biadoy
I am actually Brazilian, I speak Portuguese fluently and so does the doctor, so I wouldn't have to have a translator so that's a plus, hopefully those bad reviews were just over exaggerated or fake, and from what I saw there were only a couple. And I heard the incidents at JW and questioned them about it and they said it's nor normal lol like WHAT? And I message mega but their responses were just awful and careless, I messaged so many other clinics but they were too expensive or completely ignored me. biadoy
I had my first one in ps clinic in Bangkok, doctor is in prison now because an British girl died on the table while getting butt implants, horrible I know, but it was a nice clinic, he didn't really botch it, the scar was great, he just didn't shave the jump enough or reduced the tip as much as I wanted, then after 2 years I went to Bangkok plastic surgery with dr. Pichet rodchareon and he completely botched it, I have a the biggest tip, like bigger than before any surgery, huge scar in the middle of the columella, it's asymmetrical, it's just horrible. I M attaching of my nose now, pictures don't show all of it, or really how bad it is, I get asked almost once a week if I had a nose piercing ripped out, and I work in a dark night club with a lot of customers.
