Asian Nose Job 3

Recommended Posts

Girls, do NOT get a silicone L-shaped implant... I was misinformed about my primary rhinoplasty, which was done 10 months ago by a surgeon in Taipei, Taiwan. Even though I agonized over the decision and did a ton of research, it wasn't objective because I was CONVINCED that I NEEDED the surgery to be happy.

Fast forward 10-months later, and I'm finally learning of all the potential complications... my nose bridge is in pain, and I'm terrified that my nose is now a ticking time bomb. Apparently, the implant can become infected and extrude at ANY time!

So far, everything is ok, no serious redness or infection yet... but the sudden pain frightens me. That, and my alarplasty scars are really unacceptable, and to this day I still have trouble smiling a full smile.

I am now in search for a revision by a RENOWNED, TRUSTED REVISION RHINOPLASTY SPECIALIST, to remove my implant and fix my nose before the worst can happen. Can anybody help me? I'm not looking for a cheap fix; I want the best and most trustworthy surgeons people can name.

If somebody is able to help me select the proper rhinoplasty surgeon for a revision, I would not hesitate to give back to this community in any way possible - by posting very complete reviews, large photos, bimonthly follow-ups. This is so important to me right now... I'm moving to a new city in about a month, and I really want to get this fixed!

(Also, I want to put in a word of warning for all you ladies planning your HUGE surgeries overseas... Perhaps I went with the wrong doctor, but knowing what I know now, it's a HUGE hassle if complications arise and your doctor is overseas. It's not exactly easy or cheap to jump on a plane to Korea or Taiwan. Plus your doctor has already gotten his money, and he can just forget about you entirely...)

Thank you so much for the information; it sounds like many people had decent revision rhinoplasty results form VIP. I appreciate your honesty.

How long post-op are you right now? You mentioned you had 2 nose jobs before... what kind of implant did you have removed? Did you immediately replace it with rib cartilage, or did you wait a while?

Thanks so much for your help, you don't know what it means to me.

Hi girls and guys,
I've confirmed my appointment with Dr. Kao on June 27 and surgery on June 28 for rib rhinoplasty. I will be staying in Kangning apartments for 2200 NTD per night. If anyone is around and is willing to split costs, share company, or emotional support please inbox me! I will be in Taipei by myself so if I could find someone to hang with it would be awesome.

Thank you very much for the link! Although the pictures seem to have been removed.....

I've been trying to find pictures of the swelling progress/pre and post op pictures. Do you happen to know any other sites/blogs?

Hi Mango,

I'm in a similar situation, I also have a silicone L shaped implant and did alarplasty, and would like to remove the implant, but just that, I don't want any additional surgery or to replace it.

I'm 7 weeks post op, and my doctor told me to wait until week 9 to see if I like it and change my mind, so I decided to not be rude and listen to his suggestion and wait.

I know my nose is not going to look 100% like my old nose, but if it is at least an 80% I'll be happy, however my surgeon told me that he just placed the implant, he didn't shave the bridge bone or remove cartilage, so it's going to have good shrinkage.

I've come to realize that I don't like having this foreign material inside, how it feels and the possible complications.

About your revision, in many forums I've read that Dean Toriumi is an excellent doctor, you might want to do some research about him. http://www.deantoriumi.com/philosophy1.asp

I'll let you know about my outcome in a few weeks

Mango,

I hope you do not follow Nat's recommendation of DT, my plastic surgeon here had many cases of revisions from "Kevorkian". He will make you into a real life horror story - and there are many reviews and photos from his "patients" / experiments, you just need to know where to look... He will do this while he's knee deep into your bank account - charging an excess of $20,000 for rhinoplasty? Really?! Quality over quantity, please.

Thank you Schrodinger for the information about Toriumi, as I'm not his patient and only have read good things about him in forums is why I suggested doing a research about him, but your help is Godsend.

I have also read about Sam Rizk, is he good?

Hi Ladies,

I am traveling to Korea mid-late May for revision rhinoplasty, fat grafting, and maybe V-line surgery. I am planning to consult with ID, OZ, Banobagi and maybe Regen and VIP. If anyone would like to buddy up let me know. I will be flying from California.
