no1209 Posted April 15, 2012 Share Posted April 15, 2012 hi girls & guys, at the moment i am feeling so torn. i booked my flights from the US to asia for late june. it's getting close to the date, and i still have not decided on a surgeon. my candidates' locations are so... spread out. it's not a good thing! that means i cannot go have my consultation with all of them. i am torn between: - wang in dailian - kao in taipei - hsu in taipei - oz in korea - banobagi in korea i am planning to get rib rhino, alarplasty, and sutra meathod on one eye. i am very price conscious. kao quoted me more than $6775 USD for rhino. i don't know what to do now... :S that's more than wang. kao was at the top of my list. i almost hate myself right now, because i am considering getting silicone or gortex to cut the cost. >__< i already bought my flight to asia. i can't turn back now, so i must decide soon. is anyone going through the same dilemma? anyone went through silicone/gortex without complications? First time I had my nose done in some well known doctor's clinic, and supposedly, this doctor has had years of experience and it wasnt really expensive? Like not more than $4000? Cant really rmb, but in the end, i had to redo cos it was slanted. The next one was at a private clinic..and damn expensive,like $20, 000. Seriously guys, it wasnt worth it. Worst was I had to redo! The doctor was kind and everything but still...not what i wanted. So I think if anyone is planning to do surgery, please please be very very sure. He specialise in nose but he say he do double eyelids as well, sliding genioplasty, forehead fat grafting which I ask him. You have about 2 months to come up with a decision and currently you still have 5 candidates on your list. In my point of view, especially in my case, I wouldn't go through with surgery this time around. For me, I want to be 100% sure with my doctor. It took me 6 years to fully research and consider VIP as my final candidate - finally, my surgery is in September of this year and I have been in contact with JoAnn since day 1. I have a friend within the medical field and that gave me the opportunity to basically have worldwide medical journals and research with case studies at my finger tips. I've read a lot, researched and went through every post I could find here on Purseforum the pertains to the topic. I wasn't afraid to ask questions to ones that had their procedures done at certain clinics. I believe I left no stone unturned. (: I do understand that we are all from different backgrounds, but price really shouldn't be an issue here. It's your face we're talking about and what people will judge you with when they first meet you. Low priced procedures doesn't always mean a shabby job and high priced procedures doesn't always mean the best service. It's about the skill of your surgeon. BeautyQQ said in this video @ 9:23: "If you choose silicone or gortex (synthetic materials), you know to yourself that you will be coming back for more surgery later (a revision) - implants aren't forever" - Queenie As it is documented in journals and studies: synthetic implants have more complications than autologous cartilage. It may look good after surgery but maybe years later, you will start noticing that it's shifting to one side, your nose starts to contract or you notice the implant starting to protrude from your tip... Please try to reconsider maybe holding off and doing proper research before going under the knife! You might regret your rushed decision! What should I do instead? I don't wanna do rib cartilage I'm using septal cartilage for my tip already.. Is there any alternative ways I can do to augment my bridge besides implants? Thanks! I was thinking of having diced ear cartilage for the bridge but some say it would warp like rib..and some say silicone lasts a long time for some people so , back to square one for me! Confusing... spartanwarrior Posted April 17, 2012 Share Posted April 17, 2012 I had augmentation done on my bridge by a US doctor. one of the fancy expensive ones. he told me that the material used depends on your skin type. i have pretty thick skin so he recommended gortex which is a strong material. He said he wouldnt use this on someone with normal to thin skin(most east asians) cause it could rip the skin after a few years but because my skin is so thick i am safe. If you dont want to do rib cartilage you can get it from other parts such as the ear. silicon implants tend to shift. so i woulndt recommend those. if you can afford it rib cartilage is really the best option in my opinion. Local currency (New Chinese Taipei Dollar-TWD): up to TWD 40,000.-; Permit from the Ministry of Finance for amounts exceeding TWD 8,000.-. Foreign currencies : unlimited. However, amounts exceeding USD 10,000.- (or equivalent) must be declared on arrival. Also allowed are cheques, traveller's cheques and other negotiable instruments denominated in foreign currency.
